From our client STEVEN ROYAL
La Palapa was full when we tried to book, but we manage to get a Villa when we decided just to visit the resort when we went passed Portalon. We had the luck that the resort had a cancellation. We stayed seven nights because was so nice instead of the two nights we had planned to stay in the region which was perfect. The ocean and Playa Linda the most pristine beach of the area is just a few minutes drive from La Palapa made us feel in paradise with no one around as if the beach belonged to us, too beautiful to be real. One day there were six white faced monkeys to greet us on the beach that one have to look up or you might miss them. Amazing diversity of birds and wildlife. like toucans, parrots and many other birds are around the resort all day with their spectacular sunset and show of sounds that one cannot miss. Ask Cristina – the owner any question or advice about the tours you want to participate that she will give you all the help you need. There is a well kept swimming surrounded by remarkable well kept tropical gardens always with sounds of the birds and other animals of the rainforest that makes you feel away from or modern world back home. Around the resort there are many hike trails for one to discover beauties of the rainforest. We went in early June beginning of the green season and there were no biting bugs, just lovely cool breezes and heavy tropical showers for minutes that refreshes the atmosphere, and we love it. La Palapa has a great location to go everywhere: Zipline, Rafting, Bird watching, Wildlife tours, and explore the more rustic mountain areas near the resort with a special guide that takes you to a water fall for a fantastic swim. The resort also has mountain bicycles to rent for a very low price, where we could enjoy the area and meet the local population, and even go to the Matapalo Beach, see a fisherman caching an enormous fish. After sitting around in the forest watching the monkeys in the wild for hours here, it was a letdown going to the overpriced crowded Manuel Antonio area with its monkeys used to tourists though the beach is calm and fantastic there which made it worth it. This is the real Costa Rica you've dreamed of, don't miss La Palapa Ecolodge Resort.
This is a resort! Our bungalow was large with a bedroom, bath, full kitchen, and living room. I slept on the bed in the living room and my daughter took the bedroom. After exploring Manual Antonio National Park it was great to return to the lodge and swim. Breakfast was excellent. La Palapa felt like luxury.
The lodge is reached by a dirt road 1 km from the main road. It was a 20 minute drive on excellent paved roads from Quepos.
