Layne's flat is in a great location for experiencing many different parts of the city. It is very close to major bus lines and the Blue line, meaning that almost all of Chicago is accessible. The surrounding neighborhood is one of the best in Chicago. It retains some relics of its Ukranian heritage, while also having a vibrant restaurant, coffee shop, and bar scene. The apartment is filled with Layne's beautiful artwork and is spacious and clean. Layne is very helpful and responsive to any situations that arise, and she has very good recommendations for food and activities in the area. A great place to stay for someone who wants to experience a uniquely Chicago neighborhood in an artistic apartmen!.
A fellow student and I stayed in this amazing place for 3 months while we were both in Chicago. After working late into the night it was always a great feeling to come back to such a warm and cozy place. Layne does a great job keeping everything working and is super responsive when you need her.
Layne was a wonderful host, and the apartment was just what we wanted. Great location, close to the Blue line and bus into downtown.
Layne was very flexible with our late arrival time and a pleasure to deal with. We really appreciated the bagels and juice she left us for the first morning. The apartment is in a great location if you need to be in Ukrainian Village, Wicker Park, or nearby neighborhoods. It's a reasonable walk up to the Division Blue Line station, and there are several bus lines conveniently located to get you downtown or elsewhere. The apartment worked out well for our two couples, with plenty of room in the living area. The bedrooms are very small, but have real full-size beds.
There are several bars, restaurants and shops around the corner on Chicago Ave including a nice supermarket, and a lot more stuff a few blocks north on Division St and throughout the neighborhood. We'd stay here again if we need a spot in this neighborhood again.
Great location and nice place. Perfect for our quick business trip.
My mom, daughter, and I stayed at Layne's apt.while attending a family wedding. We loved being in the Ukrainian Village area, which was close to relatives and had a friendly, safe feeling. Layne communicated with us easily and met us to drop of the keys, give us advice, and answer any questions about getting about in the area. She was always accommodating and helpful. She left fruit, bagels, oj and flowers for our first day. We all slept well each night. Would definitely stay again if the chance comes up.
The beds were comfortable, but really, only enough room for 2 people (unless they part of a couple). I asked Lane about getting refunded for the extra person (we reserved for 3) and she said that I put her between a rock and a hard place. I guess it wasn't hard enough, because she didn't refund my $45.
Shannon, It would seem you needed three beds, and instead rented my two bedroom apartment. The hard place you put me in is that I go out of my way to treat my guests with respect, and keep them happy. I would have worked with you, even though the listing was exactly as stated, and when we met at the apartment, you could have talked with me about your error. The truth is you made the error, and insisted that I refund the money, and as I am under no obligation, would have only done it as a courtesy. Best regards, Layne
Accueil magnifique et appartement sympathique, bien équipé. Un peu en dehors, mais excellent transports publics et le calme est bienvenu. Merci à Layne pour tout !
Layne's apartment is situated at a great location. For a city trip to Chicago, it's perfect! There is a bus stop close by that connects to the metro system, and there are many shops for your daily needs just one street away.
Layne was a very friendly host. We had some problems in the apartment - no wifi signal and no hot water - but Layne was quick to solve them. She was very considerate. I would definitely recommend staying here!
Overall we had a great stay at Laney's home. It is in a convenient location for the bus ride into town. The neighbourhood itself offers a great vibe. The home is very quiet, neat and tidy with a very comfy bed! However we were disappointed in the cleanliness, especially with the dust balls on the floor of the bedroom. Also of note was the smell of gas from the oven, an obvious leak which we brought to Laney's attention and hopefully she has now attended to. Laney was a good host and offered many suggestions of places to visit. She is very friendly and easy to communicate with, especially seeing we arrived after midnight. If you are looking for a quiet convenient place in a beautiful tree lined street, this is it!
Thank you for your feedback and glad you enjoyed the neighborhood and the great bed! I do appreciate your alerting me to the gas smell--it is only when someone lets me know that I can address any problems! The gas company came out the same afternoon, determined that the stove had a malfunction, and by late in the day there was a new installed stove, and a full safety check had been performed by the gas technician. Am glad to say that has been addressed. As for the cleanliness, I can only apologize. They were doing some masonry work on the building next door that added to the dust, The housekeeper was here the following morning and it's not always possible between guests to get it as clean as we like it. No excuses, though, and always prefer that everything is great for my guests. Safe travels through the US and best regards, Layne
