  • We had a lovely stay in La Spezia at Appartamento "La Bomboniera". It's a cute apartment with a gorgeous balcony. The kitchen has everything one would need to cook, and there are a few markets and a supermarket nearby.

The only real problem we had was not having Internet. Usually I'd be okay with not having it in the apartment, but there are also no places nearby to connect. For those who are not too mobile, the hill is also quite steep, and it'd be nice to have a clearer bus schedule.

  • Alloggio grazioso e pulitissimo, collocato in splendida posizione per visitare La Spezia, 5terre e Portovenere. Emanuele e Barbara sono gentilissimi e disponibili. Consiglio vivamente.

  • We have a great time in cinque terre! Emanuele and Barbara are (email hidden)! they picked us up in the train station and bring us to their lovely apartment! The location is okay, which needs a little walk to the train station! But there is also a bus, but we always walk to the train station! the room is clean and tidy, with a kitchen that you can cook your own meal! ;) Thank you for hosting us! :)

  • Emanuele and Barbara are very sweet hosts. They speak very little English but were still able to communicate. Emanuele met us at the train station and drove us to the apartment, which was very nice. The apartment is exactly as pictured (beautiful) and was immaculately clean. The view from the balcony is very nice and relaxing.
In terms of logistics, the stove is extremely complicated and requires instructions to use. The bathroom is just an tiny as it looks in the pictures. The bath was awkward and was more like a wash basin then a tub; it was uncomfortable to sit or stand in it but eventually you find a rhythm (my sister actually loved the awkwardness of it). Apparently there is a limited amount of wifi available and the previous guests used it all up so the wifi/ internet was NOT available at all for our entire trip. That was very difficult because there is almost nothing to do at night, since the apartment is located in the middle of the mountains on the outskirts of town. This was made worse by the fact that as two young females, we felt compelled to return home before nightfall (~8pm) as we were uncomfortable trekking through the dark isolating mountains alone. There is a bus that stops in front of the apartment but if runs about once an hour and its not really clear where it goes. We could not find it to return home. The (website hidden) map instructions that Emaunele provides tells you how to get to town by driving but not how to return, which was complicated. With that being said, the walk up and down the hill was a lot more difficult than some of the other reviewers describe. There are an incredible amount of steps and the walk is steep and tiring.
All in all, this is a beautiful apartment and I can imagine that if you had internet and a car, would be the perfect little getaway but I would proceed with caution otherwise.

  • Such a beautifully presented little apartment in La Spezia. Emmanuele and Barbara are wonderfully accommodating and still picked us up from the train station when we were delayed. The apartment is in an OK location - it's a little walk to town but in the centre there are lots of places to eat and the trains to Cinque Terre are really regular and fast. I'd definitely recommend staying here as long as you don't mind a little walk.

  • A cosy, cute, clean, absolutely quiet, well equip little apartment. It is nicely situated in the hills, overlooking the harbour of La Spezia, just 8 min. by car from the city center. A good location to start hiking in Cinque Terre.
Barbara and Emanuel are very friendly and offer us a lot of information, maps and other material.

  • The house was awesome and exactly as described. Emanuele and Barbara were kind enough to pick us up at the airport and drive us to the apartment. It was decorated great and Barbara had fresh towels available for us on arrival. They laid out some maps and timetables to help us with our travels to Cinque Terre. It's the perfect place for two people to spend any amount of time. The town of La Spezia is great and the view isn't too bad either. There is a supermarket and a few places to grab food or coffee within 5 mins walk. As others have said, the walk is steep, but being young it was far from a problem. I'm not sure if I thought the house had Wifi or not, but that was the only hindrance. I don't mean to sound conceded, but it's like La Spezia and Cinque Terre have a monopoly on wifi and it was a bit of an inconvenience.

  • After visiting ruins, museums and art galleries, La Bomboniera was a such a welcome retreat. The sunshine coming through the French doors to the "Romeo and Juliette" balcony was magnetic. We loved Barbara`s choice of decorating , especially the trompe d`oeil. The bathroom was compact, well appointed and lots of bathroom essentials. We walked to the central station for our train to the Cinque Terre in 15 minutes. The local supermarket was terrific, helpful and 5 minutes walk. Emanuel and Barbara provided basic supplies for the first day and picked us up at the station. We had large cases but negotiated the steep steps down to the unit well. The views from the balcony are astounding, especially with a cup of good coffee ( a stove top percolated is provided). This is a romantic retreat and therapeutic after walking the steps at Cinque Terre. Book it now!!!
