It is very well located... you have everything on your doorstep, cafes, restaurants, shops and a supermarket. It’s also within walking distance from some of the world’s finest theatres and museums.
It is next to the famous pub 'Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese'. As well as all the journalists, in times past the pub has played host to its fair share of literary celebrities, including Charles Dickens, Oliver Goldsmith and Samuel Johnson (whose house, in nearby Gough Square, is open to visitors).
It is right next to the magnificent Daily Telegraph building, the Daily Express and Reuters.
There are three tube stations - Chancery Lane, Blackfriars & St. Paul's - all within 5-10 mins walking distance.
• Blackfriars Tube/Train Station (0.26m)
• Chancery Lane Station (0.35m)
• St. Paul's Station (0.6m)
• Temple Station (0.37m)
• City Thameslink (0.17m)
• Blackfriars Millennium Pier (0.04m)
• Multiple bus routes (0.01m)

Great place to stay. We arrived late, but Matthew was there to welcome us and show the place. Nice fresh fruit, cup cakes, chocolate cake, milk and juice in the fridgde ans all other stuff which we could take for breakfast or snack. Fresh roses in bedroom and living. All just as advertised. Highly recomendable...kids loved the place!
Matthew's place was simply superb! Spotlessly clean, with every detail addressed and all amenities lovingly offered: fresh fruit in every room! The living room was bright & airy during the day and the bedrooms quite & dark for a sound sleep. And the location... so very central, so very easy.
Would highly recommend!
This apartment is pretty much perfect. Firstly, Matthew (the host) was there to meet us in order to make arrival as smooth as possible (and we didn't get there until about 10pm after our flight from Hong Kong!) He had fresh flowers and cakes, bread, milk, juice, everything. The apartment was spotless and in a perfect location, close to everything. I really cannot recommend this apartment enough, and Matthew is a fantastic host.
Gorgeous apartment!! We really enjoyed!! Matthew thank you a lot! You made our holiday - the best ever...
Perfect location, luxury everywhere :)
I booked this stay at the last minute. I was finishing up business in Edinburgh and before returning home to Boston I wanted to do some Christmas shopping in London. Mark was responsive and helped me square away the reservation.
The flat is comfortable, well furniture and the kitchen had a full complements of implements. Mark even stocked the icebox with orange juice, milk and a chocolate cake (yum.) It's close to just about everything I needed and wanted.
Sadly, I contracted norovirus while I was in Edinburgh and it hit me while I was staying at Mark's. I was too sick to travel and he kindly extended the reservation without any reservation. It was cmforting to know I would not be looking for a hotel while I was so sick.
Up To Date and Luxurious! Comfortable, cheerful, well-appointed with charm to spare. The flat is even better than the pictures. Mathew was the perfect host- met us on our schedule, assisted with luggage both coming and going, was attentive to any requests. He provided us with fans for each room (a heat wave had hit London) plus a DVD player for the TV. An array of groceries, pastries, and fresh flowers greeted us. Flowers were replaced by Mathew each week plus the twice a week housekeeping was wonderful. I loved having a washer but I never figured out the dryer. The bedrooms are lovely, private, and have lots of closet and shelf space. Bathrooms also great with plush towels and lots of fine toiletries. The location was perfect- could walk to Kings College and the theatre. Fleet Street mostly offices so not overrun with too many jostling people like many of London's neighborhoods. I felt very safe and loved looking out on St. Paul's. Great restaurants nearby (The Last, Lobsters and Burgers, Gordon Ramsay's Bread Kitchen) plus 2 grocery stores within a few blocks and one great grocery Ocado that delivers.
My daughter and I felt we had a home away from home. We hated leaving. It was lovely. Thank you Mathew!
Matthew's flat was in the heart of London's business district and absolutely beautiful. The view from the living room was excellent, and everything from Picadilly to the Thames was in walking distance. Cheshire Cheese, the pub located bellow, has a fascinating history but surprisingly little late night noise. The apartment had full amenities and we had no issues during our stay. Though it was small for our family of five, the location and history surrounding the flat made it worth it. You truly get the London experience. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore this amazing city.
We appreciated Matthew as a host very much. We travel with our family (total 5 ladies). Matthew is very good in responding to our questions, answering our queries promptly, very thoughtful to help us on our luggage and everything.
The apartment is in a perfect location that is close enough to the tube, and also less than 1 min to major bus routes to key tourist areas like west end, tower of the bridge, british museum etc. It is very safe and we feel like living as a local.
Matthew a very good host. He prepared milk, juice, bread and all the amenities with fresh flowers everywhere. Very nice touches. Strongly recommended.
One minor thing is that it's located on the 2/F and you need to walk up and down. But that's inevitable for a Grade II listed Building.
Really recommended for family.
We booked Matthew's apartment because it seemed like the exact type of place we were looking for: Location, roominess, and amenities. The apartment was perfect for us. Upon arrival, we met Matthew's friend, Mark. Matthew was unavailable due to work, but Mark was very gracious and made sure we were comfortable before leaving. The apartment is in the heart of London in perhaps the nicest neighborhood. Another cool fact is that the house used to belong to Mary Queen of Scots. How cool is that?! The apartment itself was well furnished, and the Netflix was great for the kids. The showers were modern with great water pressure and all the hot water you'd want. The kitchen was modern with all the comforts you'd find in the U.S. We love to walk places, and from Matthew's apartment, you can walk pretty much anywhere. All the big tourist attractions are within an hour's stroll. The only thing I regret is not meeting Matthew himself. He was, from the beginning of our correspondence, quick to respond and thorough with all answers to any questions. I would highly recommend his place to anybody...especially families since you really do feel at home!
We had a great trip and the flat is really perfectly located. The flat itself is really beautiful and the personal touches (flowers, fruit) were very nice.
