Get out of the city and into your own outdoor space! Over a 5-year renovation, we painstakingly converted this 120 year old Maine canoe shop into a luxe cabin experience! It has a loft with king tempurpedic bed and antique soaking tub overlooking the downstairs and out second story windows. Walk down the floating staircase to front and back doors opening up to beautiful grounds and large granite fire pit. Sink into the extra long vintage velvet sofa and watch TV, or dine under the stars outside!

The space
The space is beautiful, light and airy. Very romantic. The upstairs loft is open with king size bed, vintage soaking tub, lavatory and toilet. The loft curtain closes for privacy. Downstairs is a day bed/trundle bed that sleeps two (2 separate beds). Since this is an open area, it's best suited to one person or a couple, although there are extra beds in the event a group doesn't mind the space. Children can be allowed but we need to talk first since it's got a floating staircase and loft. We have a kitchenette with large slate sink, Nespresso coffee maker, toaster oven and microwave as well as induction burners for any metal pans.

We are Brenda and Rob, owners of the Northwoods Compound. I'm an interior designer, photographer and graphic artist. I was born and raised here in Dover Foxcroft, then moved to LA for 30 years where I ran a creative agency. I came back to my home town and began renovating properties. I met my husband, Rob, and we readily joined forces, saving these architectural gems. It is our passion. Now we are sharing our restored antique homes on Airbnb — 5 beautifully renovated properties on what we call "The Northwoods Compound". Each one with its own unique personality and special features to suit almost any guest or group. They are listed below.
