Deal was recently awarded "High Street of the Year" by the Daily Telegraph. The town has a variety of shops - apart from chain stores such as Sainsbury's, Co-op & Marks & Spencer there are a number of olde worlde shops in the conservation area of the town. Canterbury;
Canterbury is packed with history and heritage. The skyline is dominated by the stunning Cathedral which was founded in 1597, the cathedral was completely rebuilt 1070-77. One of the most famous moments in the history of the Cathedral was the murder of Thomas Becket. Canterbury is not only packed with history, but is also full of vibrant restaurants, cafes, shops, bars, clubs and the popular Marlowe Theatre, which is a great way to spend the day!

Dover, Deal and Sandwich;
The White Cliff country is a stunning area of England where beautiful country side meets the world famous cliffs. The area is packed with things to do, including visiting castles (Deal Castle, Dover Castle and Walmer Castle and Gardens), vineyards and breweries, historical sites (including the Battle of Britain Memorial) and of course the stunning wildlife and scenery! There are a number of golf courses in the area including the Royal Cinque Ports (Deal) and Royal St George's (Sandwich)

  • We had a wonderful few days in Deal with Sue and Paul. They welcomed us and made us feel completely at home in their comfortable and cosy place. Huge selection of cereals, fruit, yoghurts, and freshly made bread every morning for the buffet breakfast (included). They thought of everything and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely couple – we love Deal and hope to go back to stay next year.

  • Sue and Paul let us stay at their charming house in Deal, Kent. The room that we stayed was very clean, fully equipped with all the amenities and attention to detail (teddy bear welcoming us on the bed which was very appealing to my girlfriend).
    In the morning we had an excellent breakfast with home baked bread ( you will find this only in 5 star hotels).
    We warmly recommend staying with Sue and Paul if you happen to be visiting SE England, cliffs of Dover etc.

About
I am early retired from full-time work as a University administrator and I relocated from Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire to Deal, Kent in September 2010 with my husband Paul. I now have time to do the things I enjoy such as walking, cycling, yoga, voluntary work, reading, theatre, etc., and letting a room in our lovely house is such an interesting venture, meeting people from around the world who want to visit our town. I am a friendly, sociable and easy-going person and enjoy meeting and helping other people.
