The quarter Salario goes back to 1911, its name comes from the Salaria Way, named so by Romans as it was used to carry salt from the sea to the Sabina region. The architecture of its buildings is elegant and it's a very "green" area: the beautiful Villa Borghese Park with its museums and zoo inside, Villa Torlonia, Villa Paganini and Villa Albani parks.
Besides the Aurelian Walls, there are roman archeological finds as Horti Sallustiani, the grave of the poet Sulpicius Maximus, a hipogean temple, the Lucilio Peto Mausoleum.
Even though it is the smallest quarter in Rome in its area there are many important institutions as Ministries, Universities, Polyclinic, Embassies. The Museum of Contemporary Art (MACRO) and many Art Galleries have turned the Salario quarter an artistic point of reference.
The Salario is adjacent to Parioli, Pinciano, Trieste and Nomentano quarters.
The apartment is located in central Rome, near (15-20 min. by step or 5 min. by bus) the railway station Termini. The nearest metro station Policlinico (Line B, The blue line), bus stops Nomentana / Regina Margherita and V.le Regina Margherita / Nizza. On the ground floor apartment is located a comfortable family cafe Contrucci. At 100 meters from the house there are 2 supermarkets and the old food market. Restaurants I Butteri, Itoya (Japanese cuisine), Fiesta Y Siesta (Mexican food), Villa Paganini. Sights nearby - Museum of Contemporary Art MACRO, parks, Villa Albani, Villa Torlonia, Villa Borghese.
The flat is situated near bus stop Nizza/Regina Margherita which connects by bus 80 with historical center, very easy and quickly, 2-3 stops and you are there. Also most of my guests go by step throw Villa Borghese to Piazza del Popolo.

It was perfect quiet, clean, private and super location. Irina was very nice and formal!
The house is only for renting. More like a hotel instead of a local's home. Nice house with independent toilet. Nice location near the train station and 10 minutes bus from the city centre. The internet is fast. There are several stores nearby. With the moderate price, the living here is pleasant and private. But they do not provide washing machine while they said there was on the airbnb site. I made some quarrel with the household.
Irina's room is great - clean, simple and well-decorated. She was on her business trip during my stay so that I did not get a chance to meet her. The location of the apartment is nice for me too - not far from the Termini, in a residential region, away but not too far away from all the attractions. It was really hot during my stay in Rome tho, which I feel a fan may not be sufficient for July & August. There is a bit off when we communicated about check-in, but it went smooth later on.
Irina's flat is great if you wished to cook during your stay. The kitchen is clean and well-equipped. Not even mention the great gelateria right downstairs - so far the best gelateria I visited!
Irina had map and lots of local information ready when you arrive. Lots of great tips, very helpful!
Had a wonderful stay in Rome at Irinas flat. It was clean, cozy, and very welcoming. I traveled alone and was weary of using the public transit. I walked easily from Roma Termini, and to all main attractions throughout Rome (coliseum, Vatican, villa Borghese, etc.) Some walks were long, but nothing un-manageable. I love the neighborhood, and would definitely stay again.
The location along with Irina's accommodations were perfect. Irina makes sure that her guests have everything they need to navigate the city and feel at home.
(There is a late fee for check-ins after 9pm that can be easily overlooked in the description.)
Great host, very clean room, beautiful kitchen, and exactly as described. She was very welcoming and spent 20 - 30 minutes with us talking through metro and attractions. Would highly recommend.
