Description

The Space

NOTE: We have outlined our dates that we are away from now until August - couple of weekends in May and June and two weeks in July. Please check calendar : )

Huge one bedroom apartment to rent in trendy Shoreditch in the heart of east London.(It is basically opposite the entrance of Columbia Road (off Hackney Road).

The apartment is 850 sq feet and features a bright and sunny large living/dining room with two massive Georgian windows, workspace, double sofa-bed, small but well-equipped kitchen, a quiet and very large bedroom with double bed, and a generous bathroom with bath and overhead shower. The apartment is a mixture of the old and the new with the front of the property being the old Georgian terrace - large windows and high ceilings - and the back a modern extension. It was refurbished 4 years ago and looks great.

The apartment is on the first floor (no lift) and features a sunny shared terrace at the rear accessed from the bedroom. We love to read and our very big hall is a small library of great books, whether art or fiction. We have no TV but loads of DVDs and CDs and speakers for an iPod or phone, and we have fast broadband and wireless so you can watch TV-on-demand (BBC iPlayer, 4oD, etc) if you have a laptop or iPad. All linens and towels are provided.

Shoreditch is one of the coolest places in London and we are two minutes from famous London areas such as Columbia Road market and Brick Lane (with its vintage shops, farmer's market and many Indian restaurants). You can enjoy walks by the Regent Canal and nearby Victoria Park, Broadway Market is only 10 minutes away and offers a good choice of restaurants, cafés and pubs, + a great food market every Saturdays. The area has plenty of choice for both supermarkets (there is a Tesco under the flat) and eating out and we can guide you to the best Indians on Brick Lane, Vietnamese on Kingsland Road or coolest bars in the hood. We have a house manual that gives you some ideas of where to go and just ask as well!

Transportation is excellent - especially from Stansted Airport with a £14 return bus dropping you minutes from the door. Nearest tubes (metro) are Hoxton (3 minutes), Old Street (7 minutes) and Liverpool Street (15 minutes). There are 'Boris bikes' to rent on Columbia Road for one pound for 24 hour access which is a great way to get around.

Please note that Alex and I live here full time. We are happy to rent out the space when we go away which is frequently at weekends and sometimes for longer trips so long stays especially during the week probably won't work. But do drop me a line and ask! I always try and get back to people within 48 hours.
