Attention: Late arrival surcharge from 8 pm (see below)
** The situation **
To Alexanderplatz (Mitte district, museums irland, shopping) it is only 5 minutes by tram and the water tower, famous Kollwitzplatz and culture brewery (Kulturbrauerei) is located just around the corner within 5 min walking distance.
From our door goes one of the main lines the tram M2 directly to Alexanderplatz. It runs 24 hours, at peak times it goes every 3 minutes and every 20 minutes at night. You can also walk to Alexanderplatz in about 10-15 min, it is 1.2 km.
** Your guest room **
The room is quiet located with windows facing to the bright courtyard.
The small guest room has 12 square meters and has two single beds which can be compiled into a double bed. In the room there is also a wardrobe and a mahogany table, eg to work or learning. A 3rd person is possible but it is very narrow (!)
The guest room is in a 4-room-apartment of 85 sqm on the 3rd floor with elevator. There are 3 guest rooms in the apartment and my workplace.
Myself I do live now in an other city district of Berlin, but I used to live 20 years in Prenzlauer Berg. I squatted an apartment in Februar 1990, that was between the time when the wall came down and before the reunion of east and west. If you want to know more about this time, just ask.
** Kitchen **
The kitchen is shared and can of course be used (microwave, stove, refrigerator, coffee maker, dishwasher, toaster, dishes, kettle). Laundry up to 6 kg = 4 €, dryer up to 3 kg = 4 €
** The bathroom **
The bathroom is shared has shower, sink and WC. It is directly across your room, just one single step.
** Useful things **
During your stay you can use for free our city maps, information on free sightseeing trips by public transport, Berlin books in different languages. There is also the current "tip" a Berlin city magazine with a current calendar of events for theater, concerts, parties, theater, etc. as trends and reports on film, art, culture and city life, as well as a television program.
You will find everything you need during your stay: Starting with the hair dryer, iron, umbrella or baby bed. Just ask if you need something.
** Internet **
Currently we CAN NOT offer classic WiFi for legal reasons in this room.
If you want to get into the internet for free you can do it via one of the many hotspots or cafés with free Wi-Fi available (we have a list for you).
There is an internet cafe opposite our house for only 1 €/h, if you dont bring your own computer.
On availability internet is also possible via one of our MiFi's (mobile WiFi, €2 per night including 100 MB, each additional 100 MB = €1, no flat rate). Please book the MiFi at least 24 hours before your arrival, because activation may take up to 24 hours. We rent them out on a first come first serve basis. As earlier you reserve it as better the chance to get one.
The MiFi is a perfect complement to your smartphone, iPod or tablet PC, because you can take it anywhere and have not only internet in the room, but also on your way though the city. You can connect up to 5 devices to the internet at the same time. But you should take controll about amount of the exchanged datas, otherwise it might get very expensive to you.
** Key **
Of course, there is ONE key, so that you get in an out when ever you want during your stay.
** Non smoking house **
The ENTIRE house and the inner courtyard is NON-SMOKING-zone. You can smoke IN FRONT of the house next to entrance to the garage. There is an ashtray and a roof.
** Late arrivals **
Extra charge for late arrivals: after 20:00: €15, after 22:00: €20, after 23:00: €25 and after 24:00: €30.
** Parking your car or bicycle **
Parking your car does cost 1 Euro per hour from Mon-Sat 09:00-24:00.
You can park your car for free 5 stops by streetcar or 20 min in walking distance from here. Or - if available - you can rent our underground parking for 8 € per night (max. hight 1.5 m, length 4.8 m).
Tipp: To enter the city you need a sticker for the "low emission zone". Search for "Umweltplakette" to find out how to get a sticker for tourists in advance.
You can rent a bike from 7 € per 24hours near by. You can leave your bicycle in the enclosed courtyard and hook it up there.
Interaction with Guests
You are a runner? Wy not running a lap together (20 min -120 min; pace 5:50-07:30)? I started in November 2013 with running.
** M2 in 5 minutes to Alexanderplatz (24hour-tram)
** U2 Senefelder Platz (underground)
- do not disturb our (sensitive) neighbors and the other guests
- non smoking area in the ENTIRE house, including windows and patio/backyard
- shoes off inside the apartment (slippers, socks are ok)
- leave the bathroom in a condition that the next guest likes to use it (e.g. remove toothpaste in sink, hair from shower, dry the floor)
- turn off the light when leaving the apartment
- during the heating season: turn off heating when windows open! open all windows (completly) for 3-10 minutes MINIMUM 2 times per day! windows not on "tilt"; do not put anything on the heaters

Gritta was very helpfull and very kind.
Gritta is the perfect host. She took almost one hour to explain what can we do in Berlin.
The room was clean and conformtable for our stay and the flat is very close from everything. We really enjoy our stay and I definetely will reach Gritta is I am coming back to Berlin again.
Consiglio vivamente.
Gritta is a wonderfull host, lots of good tips, comfortable room en perfect location! My Son and I had a great time! We will be back, with more friends...
And I will bring my running shoes next time to go running with Gritta!
