The Jumping Trout Bed and Breakfast is the perfect retreat offering couples a private queen size room with ensuite overlooking stunning river and mountain views.
Situated 3.5km from Westport town, our Bed and Breakfast is private and quiet where you can relax with a good book. At the end of the day, sit back and relax in our outdoor spa where you can enjoy a glass of wine while taking in the spectacular views and sunset.
We are handy to local award winning restaurants, beaches and other tourist attractions, including Coaltown and Denniston Experience which give insights into the early coalmining days.
There are also many walks in the area, with the Seal Colony & Cape Foulwind Walkway being one of the most popular. Here you will find a well marked walking track that follows the coastline, crossing farmland along the way, and leads to viewing platforms directly overlooking the colony. You will be amazed with how quickly the scenery changes!
For the more adventurous Underwater rafting and adventure caving can be experienced at Charleston which is located 30km south of Westport
Inclusions and Amenities:
My husband and I enjoy hosting travelers and sharing our lovely piece of paradise.
Leigh-Anne was a great hostess. It was fun to talk to her and her husband, Patrick. The spa was a welcome relief at the end of a long day of driving. The view is amazing!
The Jumping trout B&B is a great accomodation with lovely hosts, a very comfortable room, amazing views and a really great breakfast!!! We definitely recommend staying here!
We had a wonderful and cozy time with Leigh-Anne and 'Uncle Pat'. They have a stunning view and were really superb hosts - breakfast was great, the bed comfy, parking easy... and so on. Just note that their house is a few kilometres outside of town, but we had a car so didn't mind at all, and further preferred this to any of the motels in town.
This is just outside Westport with an amazing view over the whole valley and Buller river. The studio is very nicely set-up so it's connected to the house but feels quite separate. Leigh-Anne and Patrick are really good hosts and we were treated to a delicious breakfast including eggs that had just been laid by their own chickens. We were only here for one night but it was a perfect stop on our travels down the West Coast.
The Jumping Trout is a wonderful B & B - an oasis in the middle of the South Island. The accommodation was excellent and so clean. Leigh-Anne looked after us so well. We enjoyed a glass of wine with her in the evening and she made us a delicious breakfast with fresh eggs from her hens.
Sorry we missed Patrick. Thanks again Leigh-Anne.
We had a fantastic stay at The Jumping Trout. Leigh-Anne and Patrick were lovely hosts - it felt like we were staying with family! The room was very comfortable and nicely decorated and the views are beautiful. We would recommend The Jumping Trout to anyone travelling to the area.
We really enjoyed staying with Leigh-Anne and Patrick.
The room was excellent as was the ensuite. We were made to feel most welcome and found out much about the area on the West coast. We had a nice breakfast at the time that suited us and Leigh -Anne made sure we were safely on our way. They spent time with us going over maps and plotting the best way to get to Christchurch, which was really appreciated. A beautiful outlook over a valley to the river and farm land. Nice stories about their family history and the best story we were told while in NZ was about the trophy in the laundry and Patrick's exploits with a wild boar. Very very funny and thanks for sharing.
Best regards peter and Jan
Leigh-Anne was really welcoming and gave us a great recommendation for dinner at the amazingly located Bay House on Cape Foulwind. The view from the house is stunning and the bedroom and ensuite were beautifully presented and really comfortable. Great Breakfast also!
This is a truly magnificent place! Leigh-Anne and Patrick is a very nice couple that we greatly enjoyed having the opportunity to meet. The room has a very high standard, the cooked breakfast is excellent, and the view from the hottub is to die for, especially on a starlit night with the full moon rising above the mountains. This place is worth a visit to the Westport area by it self!
This B&B has a wonderful view and the room was spotless. Leigh-Anne and Patrick were very friendly and easy to talk to and we would certainly recommend their place highly.
