Beautiful area

This home is in a scenic location.
Ola'a (meaning "lively" in Hawaiian) House is a 1,700 square foot home in the heart of Volcano Village featuring vintage Hawaiian furnishings and original art. The house is owned and has been thoughtfully updated by the co-founder of Kilauea Lodge and former Magnum PI make-up artist Albert Jeyte (the house was part of the Kilauea Lodge properties.) We follow the Airbnb cleaning protocol.

The space
This private home with free parking onsite is located on a quiet lane in the middle of Volcano Village a small artists’ community located 1 mile from the entrance to Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. The home is filled with original art by Hawaiian artists, Hawaiian furniture and fabric.

Enjoy 2 bedrooms, one with king bed and the second with two twin beds (can be made into one king bed), one full bathroom between the two bedrooms, and an extra vanity and sink inside the second bedroom. There is a twin sofa bed available in the living room.

The living room with gas fireplace has plenty of room to hang out and play games, read, and a smart television plus high speed wifi. A full kitchen with sunroom and large garden with outside seating await you. This home is directly across the quiet street from "Tutu's Place" owned by my wife and the two properties can be rented together for wonderful larger gatherings accommodating up to 9 guests.

At 3,750 feet altitude, the town of Volcano, and most of the National Park, enjoy a cooler climate than the sea-level communities. The private road, Hale Ohia Lane, is treed with a wide variety of old growth species.

Guest access
The entire house and garden is yours to enjoy during your stay. The circular drive can park several cars for free.

My Dad Albert and Step-mom Lorna co-founded Kilauea Lodge a restaurant and inn. They "retired" and sold the Lodge in 2018 but kept four of the charming off-site properties as vacation rentals. I'm helping them out by hosting these rentals. I love to travel and want the places I stay to be clean, comfortable, and encourage long talks and laughter--just like our homes. I'm a "bookish" person and especially love cozying up on the couch with the fireplace going and reading contemporary fiction, mysteries, or historical fiction. Reading has taught me so much about other people and their lives, loves, challenges, and victories. I am a mood reader, library lover, and don't have a problem DNFing (Did Not Finish) a book that's not for me. I've selected some of my favorite recent books for you to enjoy during your visit. “Let’s be reasonable and add an eighth day to the week that is devoted exclusively to reading.” – Lena Dunham More...I also love walking in nature, photography, drinking coffee, cooking with my family, learning about different culture and traditions, tasting local food, watching tv (movies, sports, binge-watching a favorite series) and playing table games like Codenames, Dixit, and Ticket to Ride. These are all things that you can do when you stay at one of our homes. Volcano Village is one of my very favorite places in the world and I hope you come spend some time here!
