Welcome to Hugo’s on The Bay where the only decisions you’ll have to make are which mug to choose for your morning coffee on the dock… and what’s in your glass at sunset.

This cabin has been thoughtfully renovated to honor the feeling of a grandfather’s lake cabin. The kind filled with stories, slow mornings, and time spent together, while quietly elevating every detail for today's modern traveler.

The result is something that’s hard to find in Door County.

Not brand new.
Not overly polished.
But something with character, warmth, and a sense of place you feel the moment you walk in.

Set on Clark Lake, one of Door County’s best-kept secrets, you’ll have the rare balance of peaceful inland lake life and close proximity to the peninsula’s most iconic spots.

Cave Point and Whitefish Dunes are just 2.2 miles away, with Bailey’s Harbor, wineries, and some of our favorite restaurants all within a short drive.

🛋️ Inside the Cabin

The layout was designed for both connection and quiet moments.

The sunroom is where mornings tend to start, coffee in hand, light pouring in, and a view of lake just beyond. It’s also where nights often end, for games, laughter, and the kind of conversations that don’t feel rushed and don’t happen often enough.

Just beyond the sunroom, the cabin opens up into a bright, open-concept living space anchored by two-story windows overlooking the lake.

This is where the view from outside constantly pulls you in — the changing light, the movement on the water, the feeling of being right at the edge of it all.

The kitchen is fully stocked and thoughtfully designed for real meals, with updated appliances and a large island with stools that naturally becomes a gathering place whether you’re cooking together, pouring a drink, or unwinding after a day exploring Door County or out on the lake.

Just off the kitchen, you’ll find a large table and cozy nook with a built-in bench, perfect for bringing everyone together for dinner, games, or slow mornings that turn into afternoons.

And just nearby, a simple coffee bar with vintage hanging mugs adds a small, unexpected moment of joy — the kind that makes your morning coffee feel just a little more special.

There's a cozy area by the pellet stove that becomes the natural spot for early mornings, late nights, or a quiet moment in between.

Upstairs, the primary suite offers a private retreat with a king bed, en suite bath, tv, and balcony. It just might be the star of the show with wooden beams, cozy decor and the perfect oasis to relax on your getaway. Just outside, the loft creates a second living space perfect for movie nights, games, or sending the kids after a full day outside.

On the main level, you’ll find another full renovated bathroom with tub and two additional bedrooms designed to be flexible and comfortable for groups. One with a queen bed and tv and the other with queen over queen bunks and a tv.

🌅 Outside (Where You’ll Spend Most of Your Time)

This is where the cabin really shines.

Mornings on the dock.
Afternoons on the water.
Dinner outside as the light starts to shift.
And evenings by the fire under the trees.

It’s simple, but it’s the kind of simple that stays with you.

🌿 Where to Stay in Door County

We’re often asked where the best place to stay in Door County is.

And here’s the thing… Door County isn’t just one place. It’s 300 miles of shoreline, 14 towns, and some of the most beautiful state parks in the Midwest, each with its own feel and landscape.

You won’t see it all in one trip.

And you’re not supposed to.

The best way to experience Door County is to choose a home base you love — somewhere you actually want to come back to at the end of the day — and explore from there.

Plan your days in simple loops. Take your time. Leave space for the unexpected.

We’re always happy to help you map it out, and as a guest of Hugo’s on The Bay, you’ll receive our 50+ page travel guide and interactive map along with custom itineraries to help you experience Door County with ease, without feeling like you have to plan it all yourself.

There are a lot of beautiful places to stay in Door County.

But if you’re looking for something that feels a little more personal… a little more connected… a little more meaningful than just “nice”…

You’ll feel it here.

Tucked into one of Door County’s best-kept secrets, this is a rare inland lake cabin in the woods that offers that “getting away from it all” up north feeling — while still being just 15–20 minutes from towns like Bailey’s Harbor, Fish Creek, Egg Harbor, and Sister Bay.

You’ll have your own peaceful oasis to return to at the end of the day, without sacrificing easy access to the restaurants, shops, and energy of Door County’s most well-known (and often more crowded) towns.

📍 Near the Cabin

One of the best parts of staying at Hugo’s on The Bay is how easily you can experience the best of Door County — without feeling like you’re constantly driving.

Here are a few of our favorite spots, all just a short drive away:

• 2.2 miles → Cave Point + Whitefish Dunes
Door County’s most photographed spot, with dramatic limestone cliffs, wave crashes, and miles of sandy shoreline to explore.

• 6.7 miles → Donny’s Glidden Lodge
A classic supper club experience — one of our favorite spots for a relaxed, memorable dinner.

• 8 miles → Stone’s Throw Winery
Our go-to winery for slow afternoons, great wine, and a setting that makes it easy to stay awhile.

• 10 miles → Bailey’s Harbor
A charming lakeside town with restaurants, coffee shops, a brewery, and a handful of our favorite local stops.

🏡 Family Owned, Thoughtfully Run

You’ll find a lot of beautiful places to stay in Door County.

Many are managed by large rental companies.

This isn’t one of them.

When you book Hugo’s on The Bay, you’re booking with us — the owners. You’ll receive a welcome text directly from us before your stay, and if you need anything while you’re here, we’re just a call or message away.

Every detail in the cabin was chosen intentionally — from the mugs in the kitchen to the layout of the spaces — because this isn’t just a property we manage, it’s a place we care deeply about.

Our family has been coming to Door County for over 100 years. There’s a history here for us — and a genuine love for this peninsula that shows up in the way we host.

Over time, many of our guests return year after year. What starts as a stay often turns into a tradition.

We know their names. Their favorite cabins. Their dates.

And it’s one of our favorite parts of what we do.

With over 500 five-star reviews across our cabins, we don’t take that trust lightly. We take pride in creating a stay that feels thoughtful, personal, and just a little different from what you’ll find elsewhere.

We believe in collecting memories, not things - and aim to create spaces where you and your loved ones will want to return to for years to come. There’s no place on the planet I love more than Door County. I’m Caitlyn, wife to Jeremy and mama to two girls, Liliana and Addison. My extended family has been vacationing in Door County for more than 100 years, and I grew up making some of my all-time most-cherished memories here. It’s an absolute dream to now get to share this place with others... To help you to plan your vacations here, slow down for a little while, and experience time together that will be looked back on warmly for years to come. Door County is something special—it’s driving distance from Chicago and several Midwestern metropolises, but it’s remote enough to feel like an escape from the regular fast pace of life. You can cozy up by a fire in one of our cabins, spend your days on the water, or explore the specialty shops, unbelievable restaurants, outdoor activities, and delightful wineries Door County has to offer. There’s truly something for everyone in Door County. Ready to unplug from the rush? We can help. Your hosts, Jeremy and Caitlyn Door County Cabin Collective
