About This Listing
Enjoy the guest room in our craftsman bungalow (built in 1920) located in Midtown Memphis. Our home is located in a quiet part of fun-filled Cooper-Young. We recently re-opened for business after completing a major kitchen renovation.
Our quiet home is just close enough to the hustle and bustle of neighborhood nightlife. The American Planning Association named Cooper-Young one of the Ten Great Neighborhoods of the U.S. in 2012.
Accommodations include bedroom (with full-size bed), private bath (tub/shower), and kitchen access. Morning coffee from a French press and hot tea provided. Amenities include wireless internet, U-verse TV, mini-fridge and free street parking in the coolest neighborhood in town!
In addition to your private bedroom and bathroom, guests have full access to the kitchen, den, living room, dining room and front porch.
Interaction with Guests
Our schedules will vary, but we seek to greet each guest upon arrival. If our calendars allow, we're glad to orient you to what Memphis has to offer.
You'll be staying in the Cooper-Young neighborhood which the American Planners Association named one of the Ten Great Neighborhoods of 2012. Forbes Magazine named Memphis a Great Urban Weekend Escape in 2012 and National Geographic listed Memphis as 1 of 20 "Best Trips" for 2013.
Guests are within walking distance to some of the best local restaurants and bars in Memphis (check our Guidebook). By car, we are 10 minutes from Downtown attractions like Beale Street, Sun Studio, the National Civil Rights Museum, and the Stax Museum; 15 minutes from Graceland, and 10 minutes to the Airport. MATA bus routes are also less than one block away. Many of our guests have used the free shuttle from Sun Studio to Graceland Mansion.
Other Things to Note
We love to travel and entertain. Our small chihuahua, Chili, loves meeting new people.
Prior to check-in, let us know what time you plan to arrive. We will try our best to meet you when you arrive to Memphis. We prefer to meet houseguests after 5 PM on weekdays, but other check-in arrangements may be made.
During your stay . . . . .
You will be issued one key. When leaving the house, please lock the metal security door only (front door). Please do not lock the wooden doors (the locks are tricky and you may lock yourself out!).
When leaving or entering the house, please don’t let Chili out through the front door. During the week, Chili naps in her crate during the day. She can go into the backyard at any time, but only when humans are present at home. The back yard gate should remain closed at all times.
Houseguests are welcome to use all of the appliances in the kitchen. We usually have coffee and tea available in the mornings. Please use the red kettle on the stove to boil water for tea or coffee in our French press. Our washer and dryer are available for use. We ask that you use our detergent as not all detergents are formulated for our washing machine.
Please do not bring food into the guest bedroom.
The front porch may be used for smoking, but do not smoke inside the house.
We ask that you not invite other guests to our home without advanced notice.
When checking out . . . . .
Leave sheets and towels in place, we’ll take care of them after your departure.
We ask our guests to remove all food brought in during your stay from the kitchen upon departure.
Please return your key before departure. If we are not here when you depart, we'll provide instructions for placing your key in a lockbox attached to the front door.
After a reservation is confirmed, we require at least a 24-hour notice of cancellation. We will refund all but the first night's stay.
Wow! I don't even know where to start. Paul and Jonathan were very friendly upon our arrival in Memphis. They showed us around their beautiful home which is just as charming in person as it is in photos. After an introductory conversation, they left us to it! We got settled in quickly and were able to walk a short distance to a restaurant in the Cooper-Young neighborhood. On Saturday morning, Paul and Jonathan referred us to a great restaurant where we had breakfast. They were very respectful of our privacy! My boyfriend and I couldn't have asked for a better first-time Airbnb experience. We would definitely stay with Paul and Jonathan again! On our last day with them, they offered us coffee and quiche and it was delicious! Five stars all around. Thank you so much for a great experience, gentlemen!
Paul and Jonathon were very welcoming and had a lovely house in a safe and nice neighborhood that I felt comfortable walking around. I was only there briefly so rarely had a chance to interact but they gave me a tip on great coffee in the neighborhood. The room was clean and the bed comfortable. I recommend this host for their hospitality and the area as a good area to stay in Memphis that is fairly close to downtown.
This was our first Airbnb experience and Paul and Jonathan (and chile the dog of course!) were the perfect hosts. After a short introduction and some recommendations for places to eat/visit they left us to it.
The house is very beautiful with all the mod cons. It is located in a lovely safe neighbourhood, there are some great bars and restaurants a short walk away. We would definitely recommend the Beauty Salon and Young Avenue Deli.
All in all this was an amazing experience and we would definitely stay again.
Paul and Jonathan were amazing hosts! They are both friendly, gregarious, and generous. We had a great time enjoying the coffee and strawberries they prepared for us in their gorgeous kitchen, leaving us completely smitten with them! Their home is lovely and comfortable, and the location could not be better. It's easy walking distance to tons of restaurants, bars and shops in the coolest neighborhood in Memphis. We had a fantastic experience, and would stay with Paul and Jonathan again.
Our stay with Jonathan and Paul was very pleasant. They were very welcoming and even offers us drinks (a fantastic single malt) and cup cakes when we arrived! They were also very helpful with regards to do's and don'ts in Memphis. The area is gorgeous. Especially Cooper-Young, where we had breakfast at Tart both mornings. The room was clean and comfy, the bed was huge, and they even had a small fridge in the room for us to use. We definitely recommend staying here.
Paul, Jonathan, and Chili were wonderful hosts. We felt very welcomed into their lovely home. The room was nice and their brand new guest bed was very comfortable. The private guest bathroom is also a nice element. We would definitely recommend Paul and Jonathan's guestroom to anyone looking for a nice place to stay while in Memphis.
