The Space

A lovely retreat on Nova Scotia's South Shore. One and a half hours drive from Halifax, seven minutes from Liverpool, on a string of the most beautiful white sand beaches on the East coast of Canada.
Close to great restaurants (Lanes Privateers, Liverpool, The Quarterdeck, Summerville Beach, White Point Resort) a golf course, fabulous walking, swimming, kayaking, and surfing!
Have a look at our site, LIttle House at Hunts Point, for testimonials from those who've stayed, loved it, and returned!
Indoors, a lovely wood stove to cosy up to through the coldest winter day, and outside, a fire pit in the lower garden, perfect for summer bonfires, watching fireflies and roasting marshmallows after a long day on the beach.
This is a writers retreat, so we've avoided TV's, telephones, internet or wifi. All can be accessed close by, but we've tried to make this a get-away spot.
In the autumn, which is often the best season here you can pick blueberries, pears, and blackberries on the property, and if it survives, peaches from our new little peach tree.

  • Shelley and Ed's home was the perfect location for enjoying Halifax, an easy walk/drive to the Dartmouth Ferry, itself always listed as a major TO DO. The home itself has so much character, a testimony not only to the owners' tastes and flair for design/function, but to their background as a musical and theater family.

Shelley was so generous and gracious. Despite her imminent departure after we arrived, she took time to research local music and Atlantic Fringe Festival offerings for us.

Ed and Shelley are just starting out with AIRBNB, but if you get the chance to stay with them, grab it. Highly recommended.

The only caveat: The bedroom, while perfect for a single, was bit of a tight squeeze for us, but may be fine for you. Since our arrival coincided with their planned Labor Day weekend departure, Shelley trusted our many positive reviews from the Airbnb community and allowed us the full use of her home in their absence, making this an extraordinarily good deal. Very grateful for the favor!

  • My boyfriend and I wanted to breathe some maritime air and see the sights in the Halifax. Shelley and Ed were so great, incredibly nice and they welcomed us into their beautiful little home in Dartmouth. We couldn't asked for a better spot!! Directly under the MacDonald bridge and only a few minutes away from the ferry to get to Halifax. The house is adorable, well decorated and very comfortable (the bed included!!). The photos don't show, but there is also an adorable backyard filled with plants and flowers!

Our hosts were amazing, they gave us great directions on where to go eat and hang out in the city, as well as where to avoid. They made sure we were comfortable and doing ok all through our stay.

Hope to make it back up soon :)
