The Space

Hello !

My appartment is 35 square meters, with a stunning overall view of the Eiffel Tower. On the 7th floor, with elevator and bath, looking West, romantic, sunny and luminous, with an open outlook, a big bay window and a balcony set with table and chairs looking out directly onto the Tower, it is set in the heart of the city's trendiest and most perfect location, the Champs de mars being just 600 meters away !

Have a brunch on the balcony. Have diner in the living room with abstract paintings on the wall and a direct overall view of the enlightened Eiffel Tower, its hourly sparkles and its turning lighthouse. Open up one of the offered bottles of French wine. It is very romantic !

In the chic and very lively Motte-Piquet district, a 100 meters from a fashionable shopping street, the "rue du Commerce", you will find numerous nice cafés and restaurants. The neighbourhood is very safe. Ride the vintage French bike through the traditionnal Sunday market or in front of the fountain where the famous "Inception" folding city scene was shot !

The appartment has private Wi-Fi. In the main room, a big bay window, a bed for two people with one ergonomic cushion, a one-person additionnal quality mattress, a working desk, an ergonomic chair, a plugable computer screen, a guitar, 40 DVDs free to watch, a printer, hi-fi speakers, a 2-persons sofa, a coffee table, three sits, and three mirrors enlarging the room. The kitchen is equipped with a dining table, two sits (plus two extra foldable sits stored in the bathroom), two washbasins, a fridge, a freezer, a microwave, an oven, 4 heating plates, 2 cupboards, and complete cooking and table equipment to prepare and serve a meal for 8 people. The balcony is set with a table, a candle-lantern and two chairs. The bathroom is equipped with a bath, a cabinet, a washbasin, a mirror and a dishwasher.

The paint and sofa are a bit old, and I need to install a shower curtain yet, but the appartment is clean and filled with light !

I am sometime away from town when I rent my place (which is why I rent it) but am always reachable by phone and email. Plus, a nearby friend is there in case of problems, who will check regularly the appartment and has a double of the keys in case.

  • It was a great stay. The process of finding the apartment and getting the keys went smoothly. The view is spectacular and the apartment is adequate for two. Very close to several metro stations. And a short walk to the Eiffel Tower. Felt safe in the neighborhood. The only con is the apartment could have been more clean. Thank you for an awesome stay!!!

  • The views from the apartment are great! Eiffel tower in all its glory. The apartment is spacious enough, although somewhat dirty. In addition, the shower is one where you have to hold the head up yourself, so it tends to spray all over. Julien gave me the wifi password, but it didn't work which was also somewhat of a let down. Overall, views and location were great.

  • There's a lot of good things I can say about Julien's place so I'll start with that.

The location is super-handy to the Eiffel Tower and the Cambronne/La Motte Picquet Grenelle metro stations. We could walk everywhere and commute from CDG and to Gare du Nord (though the lack of elevators/escalators will always be a challenge in Paris). Julien also provided a bicycle which is extra thoughtful, but we decided against it since the apartment is on the 7th floor and can't fit in the elevator. Speaking of which, the "ascenseur" was definitely a welcome relief to someone who's 6 months pregnant. And what can I say about the view? Julien's place is good value for money in a city where you'll often have a permanent look of surprise on your face from sticker shock.

I have to say though that if you're not in your 20s and/or are no longer accustomed to the level of hygiene of a typical college dorm, then this might not be the place for you. While the bed and sheets were clean and comfy, we had a hard time not tracking dust in from the floor (Paris in spring can be very dusty from all the gravel in the parks). We also had a hard time managing in the bathroom since it also doubles as storage space and we had to struggle to keep the unattached shower head from spraying our host's clothes/shoes/electronics. Plus the toilet bowl could definitely use a good cleaning with lots of bleach/sugar soap. I had really wanted to keep fond memories of Julien's place but then I made the mistake of opening the microwave.

If you do decide to stay here, do check your emails and communication up until the last minute as there might be some difficulty getting the keys. And when you use the elevator and press 7, do note that you're actually on a landing between the 8th and 7th floors so you need to go down half a floor, not half a floor up.

  • The flat was great. We had no problems finding the place, Julien gave us great directions. We mostly used it to sleep and shower but it was close to metro stops and the Eiffel tower was just a short walk away.

  • Julien's appartment had a great view on the eiffel tower! It's a cosy studio with a comfortable bed, in a nice neighboorhood with shops and metro very close by. Julien reacted really fast on messages, we had some trouble with finding the place, but when we called he answered immediatly so that was very nice. We really enjoyed our stay!
