We offer a home away from home..We enjoy opening our home to others, sharing great meals, talking about our travels, and dreaming of new destinations. Being a host is not just about offering a bed or a place to sleep. We truly want to create a relaxing, comfortable experience for you and we love sharing what we have with others. We offer a clean, cozy room. We are 10 minutes by car to downtown Seattle, and 6 minutes to SeaTac Airport. Our house is a restored 100 yr old farm house, with a large peaceful private yard, and a very nice view of the Puget Sound and The Olympic mountains. We are within 2 blocks of a nice forest, with walking trails, that lead to a public beach/seahurst park. The room comes with use of our gourmet kitchen and or back yard BBQ. We have two boys, ages 8 and 9. And we have seperate living quarters on second floor.
Brian and Cecile
Brian and Cecile welcomed us into their family home. Their house is warm and friendly, has an interesting history and is located in a quiet and attractive neighbourhood. Their garden and the view of the Bay are highlights.
Had a lovely stay with Brian and Cecile, just as lovely and relaxing the second time around . I would defiantly recommend people stay here if they want a cozy, comfy room with friendly hosts who know how to respect your privacy and be welcoming all at once. Breakfast offered and nice conversation plus a good sunset. I used it as a place to get overly UK jet lag before continuing with my journey tonPortland and now feel completely rested. Defiantly worth staying here.
When I made the reservation with Brian and Cecile I was hesitant to stay in a home with children. When I arrived around sunset (thanks to a graciously felxible check in time) I was greeted by a polite boy and a sweet dog in the yard. The young man walked me up to the house and I met Brian and Cecile, just as polite and friendly. The back door was open and it gave a feeling of comfort, being able to come and go and enjoy the weather and beautiful view. The house was an easy 10 minute drive to the airport and is in a quiet neighborhood. I never heard any airplane noise. I was encouraged to roam the garden plots and ate fresh tomatoes, apples and huckleberries right off the plant! Both boys were sweet and quiet to the point I erroneously assumed they were gone most of the time! Cecile made fresh, homemade bread and I had some for breakfast with her homemade strawberry preserves. Brian offered me coffee that morning and I have a feeling it was the cup he had just poured for himself- very generous. The family are social, but respect your privacy. The pull-out bed was made for me on arrival and comfortable and I had a bathroom just adjacent. The bedroom is on the main floor/downstairs and just off the kitchen, so if you are a light sleeper you might hear people coming down the stairs in the morning or a spoon stirring coffee, but it was not inappropriate noise. I'm sure I made more noise coming in late when the dog would bark for a moment to alert of a stranger in the middle of the night! Although I didn't use the tub (only shower), it appears that the tub has jacuzzi jets and the bathroom was clean. Their home is also an easy 20 minute drive to Seattle (I didn't use public transit). The house is also a very short walk or drive downhill to the shore overlooking the Puget Sound, if you're interested in that. A side note that may apply to some people: being from the south, I forgot that some regions don't utilize central air conditioning, but the house was not too warm and with the windows/doors open it actually could get a little cool (warm blankets available!) There are a few quaint coffee shops nearby and a neat Goodwill, if you like thrift shopping, where I got great deals on Northface and Columbia jackets which are a mainstay for dressing for the Pacific Northwest! If you are looking for a quiet place conveniently located to the airport, or a place away from the business of the city with a good view, or a place with genuinely nice people, this is the right place to be!
Very welcoming, very comfortable, a great place to rest after tackling Seattle sightseeing.. My 4 year old and I enjoyed the kindness of fresh bread and local honey in the morning and being greeted by the wonderful dog Big..Cecile and Brian are both charming and easy going.. I never felt we were in the way ..I appreciated the affordability too :) Alki Beach is very close .. The best Mexican food I have ever had in my life is less than a mile away at La Estacion!!!!! And Trader Joes nearby...getting downtown was easy too... We'd definitely stay there again.
Brian was so welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The house and view of the water were beautiful. Location was a 40-min bus ride into downtown Seattle, with the bus stop a few minutes away from the house.
Brian was really nice and communicative about a pretty last-minute booking! Helped me out of a tight spot with my change in travel plans. The house and neighborhood were pretty and quiet, and Big the dog is very sweet. Perfect for airport access. Note that this is a pull-out bed, which I found perfectly comfortable, but if you have back issues, just be aware of that.
I had a great stay at Brian and Cecile's home and would recommend staying here. The view of the sound and Olympic mountains is breathtaking, the bedroom and bathroom were clean and private, and Brian is a welcoming and helpful host. I had a great conversation with him and he was kind enough to recommend a delicious local Italian restaurant to me and a friend and drive us there. I would definitely recommend staying here and my friend said Brian and Cecile's home was much better than his stay at a nearby "zen garden" AirBnB listing.
Our names are Brian and Cecile . We have two boys, ages 9 and 11, a dog and 2 cats.
Our home is bilingual, English / French, and conveniently located 5 minutes from the airport (without the airplane noise!). Brian is a native of the Pacific Northwest, and Cecile is a native of France.
We try to live as simple as possible and find that "balance" in our home and life.
We enjoy living near Seattle, but having a home that feels like you are in the country. We enjoy the arts, food and music. We have a large landscaped yard with herb, vegetable gardens, and a small orchard and pinot noir vineyard. We love being able to grow and cook food straight from our garden. We have always enjoyed the art of cooking and taking time to be able to really enjoy a meal. We try to support our local farmers market, rather than the supermarkets. We also love trying out new and unusual restaurants, so we know quite a few good ones we can direct you to.
We enjoy taking road trips exploring the backroads of the Northwest, by driving and biking. We also enjoy sailing on our sailboat to nearby islands. And we travel to France every year to spend time with family and friends.
We enjoy sharing our home with people we have never met. The experience we gain and learn from by meeting new and interesting people from all over the world, is rewarding to us. So far, our experiences we've had with Airbnb have been positive. And we hope to use Airbnb in our own travels.
Please feel free to ask any questions.
