Interaction with Guests

We are keen on meeting our guests, once arrived in Venice, in a place where might be easier for them to reach the apartment. We can provide several informations about the routes to follow throughout Venice and for the way back to the apartment, in a way that you will not get lost in the labyrinth of Venice. Informations regarding the area where the flat is located and about the city in general. Both advising on the most famous and must-to-see Venice attractions as well as the charming hidden places and routes that Venice is full of, and it is of incredible value to discover too. We also provide some logistics information as well regarding public transports, grocery shops nearby, museums and exhibitions.

The Neighborhood

Dorsoduro is a “sestiere” (one of the 6 districts) full of life and very well known. You can find in this district the “Accademia Gallery” which imaginary divides the district in two parts: to the east a more residential area, to the west, towards Campo Santa Margherita, a more lively area with many little bars (where you can have your breakfast), and delicious small restaurants and shops. The apartment is only a 5 minutes from this Campo. On the east side of the district you can find several art galleries, the Peggy Guggenheim collection, the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute, landmark of the Venetian Baroque architecture, the Punta della Dogana, with its triangular shape dividing the Grand Canal and the Giudecca Canal. Walking through the wonderful promenade along the Fondamenta delle Zattere, you can stop by to visit the old Salt Warehouses, where nowadays there are several cultural spaces for art exhibitions. A must-to-see in this district it is the boatyard (“Squero”) of San Trovaso, opened since the 17th century, where traditional venetian boats, Gondolas among which, are still built and repaired according to old venetian traditions. From here you can head to the west part of the district up to the Campo Santa Margherita. A worth visit is deserved in this part of the district, for the Scuola Grande dei Carmini as well (where you can admire the paintings of Tiepolo), the wonderful palace of Ca’ Rezzonico facing the Grand Canal, the San Sebastiano church, and the San Pantalon church, all of them on a very little walking distance far from each other.

Getting around

The apartment is located within 5 minutes walking distance from the water bus stop S.Marta, serving the water bus line 5 , 4 and 6. On a 7 minutes walking distance there is the water bus stop S.Basilio, serving the lines 2 and 6. On a 10 minutes walking distance there is the water bus stop Ca’ Rezzonico, serving the lines 1 and 2, which are running across the amazing Grand Canal and its magnificent palaces.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Laura's place is a wonderfully relaxing, clean, and quiet apartment in Dorsoduro. You will see many students and few tourists milling about the area even during Carnivale. The apartment is spotless and, as mentioned, guests can use a private bathroom. The room is large and the bed and linens are comfortable. The room faces the back, so there is not much noise and is on the brighter side of the building.

We arrived early, so we met Laura in the neighborhood after walking about Venice for a few hours. She is very friendly -- we ended up speaking in both French and English as she is interested in both languages. Laura also gave us some great tips for places to visit and places to eat in the area. For example, she suggested we visit Burano on the first sunny day of our trip and it was one of our favorite places for the whole week. One of her recommended restaurants was so tasty (and affordable) that we made sure to return before leaving.

Overall, we were happy with the visit and heartily recommend staying with Laura!

  • Très bien en tout point ...
    A recommander !!

  • Everything one could expect and more!
Contact with Laura was immediate with directions from the airport to the water taxi stop where she met us. Prior to our arrival we communicated and received much information preparing us for our visit. Her apartment is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Bed linen so tasteful and such a comfortable double bed! We had our own private bathroom and access was very easy.
The apartment is situated in the University area so is much quieter than the hustle and bustle of the more touristic areas of Venice, but that did not hinder access as most areas were in walking distance and the proximity of three water taxi vaporista stops made it possible to have Venice and the islands at our fingertips. As it was carnivale, it was a relief to be able to escape to a more sedate area after the revelry of the Canvale.
It was even more convenient with the conference i was attending beig just across the canal at the Hilton Molino Stucky.
Laura gave us wonderful recommendations of affordable local restaurants, art exhibits and tips on getting around in the city.
We loved getting to know her and the language barrier was easily overcome.
She is a most gracious host and we would never hesitate to visit her again and were fortunate to get to know her.
Certainly one of our best airbnb experiences, but then we have lucked out on our last three at least!

  • I stayed with Laura in Venice for 4 days. Although Laura doesn't have a car she came and met me at the waterbus and helped me with my luggage! The walk to her apartment was not far.Her directions from the train to the waterbus were clear, as were her directions from the waterbus to the bus and airport when I left. Laura and her apartment are lovely. The room is clean, bright and spacious with extra pillows and blanket's if required. And a really comfortable queen size bed! Separate bathroom is clean with lovely fluffy towels. The apartment is close to the waterbus's, which will take you anywhere you need to go in Venice, and cafes, restaurants, churches and exhibitions are all within walking distance of Laura's apartment! On your arrival Laura provides you with a map of Venice and takes you through how to get to all the tourist spots as well as advice on other areas of interest. I had a key to my room however felt safe enough at Laura's place not to need it. Laura was kind enough to take me out for Pizza one night, which as a solo traveler was really special. I would highly recommend Laura's place and look forward to returning one day.
