About this listing
Private room with sleeping loft available in a charming apartment, set in the bustling neighborhood of Logan Square, 2 blocks from public transportation!
Our farmhouse was built in 1908, and still thrives in all its 1970's decorated glory.
Our apartment includes the entire first floor, with both a front and back deck, and large, lush backyard. We have an amazing upstairs neighbor who uses the back door as his main entrance, so the front entryway is private for our use.
The guest bedroom holds a handmade loft bed (with high ceilings- plenty of room), a desk, and a pew for lounging. We do use the closet for craft and tool storage, but it's curtained off. We make a point to not intrude on the privacy of the room in any way when we have guests.
Interaction with guests
We live less than a block away from a thriving strip of nightlife in Logan Square, and two blocks from the California Blue Line L station, though our street is extremely quiet and 'neighborhoody.'
We've compiled a little booklet to help guide your stay, but are more than happy to help with any questions!
We always make our best effort to try to schedule our availability at home with your arrival, to help you get your bearings!
Logan Square is a rich and diverse neighborhood, that has really just begun to thrive in the past 5 years. It boasts TONS of restaurants, bars and cafes well within walking distance, in addition to a nearby historic movie theater and several local shops and galleries. The neighborhood is filled with beautiful boulevards and parks- only a 15 minute walk to one of the most gorgeous parks in the city!
We are two blocks away from the California Blue Line L station, which takes you directly downtown, or transfer to ALL other lines in 15 minutes. Our street is permit only, but the cross-street (Sacramento) offers free parking, and it's just at the end of our block.
Other things to note
THIS IS A DISCLAIMER PURELY FOR THOSE GUESTS LOOKING FOR A SHINY CONDO VISITING EXPERIENCE: We love this house. It is beautiful and charming and historic and spacious. That being said, some of that charm includes the rough-around-the-edges variety. We keep the apartment clean, and all appliances are up to date and working well (including an amazing shower head), but it is an old place that was left unchanged for 40 years, prior to us moving in.
Part of living in a unit straight out of the 70's is that we have some incredible carpet that we're trying our best to keep in good shape- so please, no shoes inside. We have a space in our entryway where you can keep shoes and coats. We usually try to quiet down by 11, out of courtesy to our upstairs neighbor, but don't worry- we're not cranks about it ;)
When it comes down to it: please simply treat our home as you would treat your own. Clean up after yourselves in terms of dishes, showers taken, and items used. Please account for any guests in your reservation and communication with us. If anything breaks or gets lost, just let us know!
I live in Chicago with my boyfriend Andrew, in a great retro farmhouse that we host airbnb guests in.
I'm a freelance actor, and spend my days working as a sign-artist and at a hole in the wall (non-Chicago-style) pizza place. Andrew is a musician and works at a vintage music shop in town. Together with friends we play music, make movies, and play lots of board games.
As much as we love to travel whenever we get the chance, we also love sharing our amazing find of an apartment with others- we host a frequent game nights with friends, cook a lot, and spend most nights after work either going out to shows, playing Nintendo, or watching whatever sci-fi tv show we're hooked on at the time.
