My historic downtown home is extremely comfortable, clean and stylish. It's the perfect spot for those who want easy access to downtown (exactly a half mile walk) and a peaceful setting to come home to.
The space you'll be renting is the first floor of the home, a 900 square foot apartment. I live upstairs in a separate unit. (The spiral stairway in the photos has been closed off to separate your space from mine). I have my own separate entrance, so once you're checked in you won't see me again unless you need me.

** PLEASE NOTE: THE STAIRS FROM THE STREET UP TO THE APARTMENT ENTRANCE ARE STEEP. KEEP THIS IN MIND IF YOU HAVE ANY PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS
My main living area is not directly over the apartment, and the house is extremely well built with thick walls and floors. You will not be disturbed by my presence. (No creaking floors or loud footsteps overhead like in some downstairs units!).
Interaction with Guests
I am available if you need me, but otherwise you will only see me when you check in.
My neighborhood sits right next to downtown, making it perfect for exploring and walking around. The neighborhood has a strong sense of history and community. There are historic churches, a park, an edible garden and a community center all very near my house.
My neighbors are a diverse mix of artists, young families, and working class people. Everyone is very open and friendly!
While not affluent, this area of town is eclectic, and lively! This is a tourist town, but at my house you get a real local experience.
This is a non-smoking rental. Also, no candles or incense.
Due to the fact that there is a steep set of stairs on the premises, please take extra precautions, especially if you have children.
Have a good time by all means! However I do ask that the noise level be kept within reason. I don't mind at all if you keep late hours, and hopefully you fully enjoy the Asheville night life. That being said, this is not a "party house". Common sense etiquette is respectfully requested.
I'm an open minded person and if you have any special needs or requests just let me know, I'll do my best to accommodate.
Valorie's apartment was very nice - the decorations and arrangement made it homey. We wished we could have met her while we were there, as we have in other airbnbs, but she was always helpful and responsive by phone. The mattress was very comfortable and we slept great. While the house was pretty close to town, it was still a significant walk so we ended up driving in most of the time. Also, we felt that the towels in the bathroom could have been cleaner. Overall, the apartment made for a nice home base while in Asheville.
Erica- It's surprising that a house as close to the heart of downtown as mine would be considered too far for anyone to walk. Nearly all of my guests mention how convenient the location is. The towels you used during your stay were freshly laundered the morning of your arrival. The inaccuracy of these comments is truly noteworthy!!
Valorie communicated with us before our arrival to make sure we had directions to her sweet apartment. We arrived directly and she was there to greet us. Valorie helped us with our bags up to her place.
The apartment, host and proximity to downtown Asheville was perfect. There was everything we needed and the coffee provided excellent.
Valorie was an amazing host. Her place (up a few stairs ,off a central Ashville suburban street) was spotless, tastefully-decorated, and quiet -- easily less than a 5 minute walk to central Ashville. The foam bed was the most comfortable that I have slept on in a while (including our home mattress that we just bought a few months ago!!). The perfect hostess, Valorie allowed us our privacy while being easily reachable if we needed anything. My wife and I have stayed at many an airbnb place in the past and would stay here again in a second. Thanks Valorie!
Valorie was a great host and her place was perfect for our short stay! Her home was inviting, spacious, spotless and the location was ideal- an easy 10 minute walk into downtown. Parking was a breeze, check-in and check-out was effortless, and Valorie was extremely accommodating, friendly and quick to respond to our inquiries. We had a great time and will be sure to contact her should we decide to visit again!
Valerie's home was great for a quick weekend adventure in Asheville. Checking-in and checking-out was simple and went off without a hitch. The space is warm with more than enough room for two and the location is convenient to just about anything you'd want. We were only a few minutes from downtown, the blue ridge parkway, and plenty of amenities including several grocery stores. I would highly recommend Valorie and her home to anyone looking to explore Asheville.
Nice enough place to stay two nights in AVL. The two of us had plenty of space. It was close to every place we wanted to go because we booked a place close to every place we wanted to go...
Don't bring too many bags or you'll need to hire a sherpa to get you to the top. Those steps she talked about are no joke. Steep and a lot of them. Once you're at the top, it's cute.
I have lived in Asheville NC for 15 years and love to call it home. I am a singer-songwriter and i spend much of my time playing shows and making recordings. If you're interested in the local music scene I can definitely give you some suggestions.
I enjoy Asheville for the beauty of the place, the great music and food, and the open minded eclectic vibe here. It's a great town.
I have toured all over the country and often stayed with hosts, so I know what it's like to be a guest in someone's home. Personally i appreciate a host who is accommodating but also lets me have alot of privacy and the option to keep interactions to a minimum, and as your host that's what I can offer you.
If you need anything, or would like information about Asheville, I will gladly help you out, but otherwise I will be upstairs in my part of the house and you'll have the apartment downstairs to yourself.
Come stay at my special, beautiful house!!!
