Interaction with Guests
I am available if you need me, I live on the premises.
My neighborhood sits right next to downtown, making it perfect for exploring and walking around. The neighborhood has a strong sense of history and community. There are historic churches, a park, an edible garden and a community center all very near my house.
My neighbors are a diverse mix of artists, young families, and residents whose families have lived here for generations. Everyone is very open and friendly!
While not upscale or fancy, this area of town is eclectic, lively, and welcoming. This is a tourist town, but at my house you get a real local experience.
This is a non-smoking rental. Also, no candles or incense.
Due to the fact that there is a steep set of stairs on the premises, please take extra precautions, especially if you have children.
Have a good time by all means! However I do ask that the noise level be kept within reason. I don't mind at all if you keep late hours, and hopefully you fully enjoy the Asheville night life. That being said, this is not a "party house". Common sense etiquette is respectfully requested.
I'm an open minded person and if you have any special needs or requests just let me know, I'll do my best to accommodate.
Valorie was in contact with us well ahead of our arrival and she greeted us at the door when we arrived. She oriented us on the house and the local attractions and we felt welcomed and at ease immediately. The house was exactly as described; a cozy quaint apartment located within a mile of all of the downtown attractions. The house is well appointed and is located in a wooded and quiet neighborhood. Cool Asheville mornings drinking coffee on the front porch with the most friendly black and white cat that came to visit were the perfect way to start each day. Valerie was a fantastic host and we could not more highly recommend this experience. We can't wait to get back.
This was a great place for my husband and I. The place is very nice and spacious. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and full of "Jason's" products which I appreciate, being a organic conscious person. I am a shower snob, I like it hot and with lots of water pressure, I can say that the shower felt great! I love that Valorie has a lot of Asheville information (brochures on places to eat, tours, etc) available to browse through, it was very helpful when we were trying to plan our short stay in her lovely city. Speaking of the city, it's a little bit of a distance, nothing that can't be done by foot, but we used Uber the whole time which I strongly recommend to do if you don't feel like hoofing it! Valorie's apartment is a great place to stay in a fantastic town.
Hi Laura, so glad you enjoyed! Regarding the location, my house is exactly a half mile from the center of downtown, as stated in my listing, and my guests regularly walk there. Most of my reviews contain comments on the easy walk to downtown, so I'm surprised that you found it too far, but glad to hear you had good experiences with Uber in Asheville! :)
Valorie's place is perfect! My boyfriend and I were staying at Valorie's after a few nights of camping and it provided just the kind of comfort we wanted (and needed!). It's a short walk from downtown in a very convenient location. We would definitely stay here again when we come back to Asheville!
Valorie greeted us upon our arrival and was very organized. She was prompt to respond to any messages we sent her which made communicating a breeze.
Her home is just as advertised. It's on a quiet block, a short walk from the Downtown area. It was an excellent home base for our Asheville adventure.
We had a lovely stay.
We so enjoyed our short stay at Valorie's place. We were there about 24 hours and walked to and from downtown three times. The apartment was cozy and comfortable and exactly as pictured. She provides a great amount of information and was so flexible and communicative regarding our check in time. We also loved the 12pm checkout! We slept in, walked to breakfast and returned with enought time to freshen up before hitting the road. We would love to come back!
Valorie's apartment is exactly as pictured and described. It is in a perfect location for exploring downtown Asheville - tons of restaurants and breweries within walking distance. We also found some good running routes leaving from the house. Everything was comfortable, loved sitting on the front porch in the mornings, and it was quite spacious for my husband and I.
Valorie was a great host and very accessible. Her knowledge of the city made my stay all the more enjoyable. I particularly appreciated the guides for places to eat and things to do in town.
About the Host, Valorie
I have lived in Asheville NC for 15 years and love to call it home. I am a singer-songwriter and i spend much of my time playing shows and making recordings. If you're interested in the local music scene I can definitely give you some suggestions.
I enjoy Asheville for the beauty of the place, the great music and food, and the open minded eclectic vibe here. It's a great town.
I have toured all over the country and often stayed with hosts, so I know what it's like to be a guest in someone's home. Personally i appreciate a host who is accommodating but also lets me have alot of privacy and the option to keep interactions to a minimum, and as your host that's what I can offer you.
If you need anything, or would like information about Asheville, I will gladly help you out, but otherwise I will be upstairs in my part of the house and you'll have the apartment downstairs to yourself.
Come stay at my special, beautiful house!!!
