The condo was everything it was described as & more. Our hostess was so accommodating, responded to text messages right away, and made sure we knew we could call her if any problems arose (which they were none!). The space is clean, generous in size, with plenty of supplies (towels, TP, soaps, etc.). The neighborhood is cute, fun & it's easy to get to some of the best parts of Chicago. I would def recommend this condo.
This stay was both a good and disappointing experience for my friend and I. I'll start with the good.
The loft is in a beautiful and extremely convenient location - near cafes, restaurants, bars and comedy clubs. The historical building was interesting to explore - including the rooftop patio and beautifully landscaped courtyards. The loft itself was spacious and generally clean - though as previous reviewers have said, was a bit rough around the edges (some mould in the bathtub corners, some faint stains on the bedding, some lumps in the beds, bathtub drain was plugged meaning we were ankle deep in water when we took showers). The kitchen was very conveniently stocked, though there were a few lightbulbs missing (as well as in the hallway), which made things quite dim after dark. The TV was also not properly connected meaning when we just wanted to chill on the last night, we had to mess around with the plugs and connections to get it to work for about 20 minutes.
Our arrival was the most disappointing aspect of our trip, and quite inconvenient. When we arrived - just after the check-in time of 3:00, there was another airbnb renter in the unit we had booked, intending to be there for the same night. Both parties (my friend and I and the other renter) tried to call JoAnne for AN HOUR with no response from her. We were literally sitting on the hallway floor checking our reservations on our laptops and walking around the building for an hour while trying to figure out the best way to proceed because JoAnne wasn't getting back to us. On top of this, my flight arrived at 9:45 am and JoAnne said we couldn't check in until 3 (no early check-ins OR baggage storage, she told us), which meant we had to spend $24 on lockers at Union station in the meantime to store our bags. So, when we arrived to find someone in our room, you can imagine we were a bit frustrated. In the end, we sorted it out but at no point did JoAnne apologize for the mix-up. She actually blamed the other renter for the confusion and didn't apologize for not answering the phone while we were waiting for her response. This just means that we didn't feel very welcome at all and the trip didn't quite start out on the right foot.
The apartment was basic, but clean and comfortable. We had 4 of us staying here and it felt big enough to cope with this. In any event, the apartment is in such a great location that you shouldn't be spending too much time here at all. N Wells St is a very cool street with plenty of bars, restaurants on the street or nearby. The apartment is also within easy walking distance to two different L train lines which get you into downtown or other neighborhoods. It is also possible to walk to downtown if you are that way inclined. The building itself is great, with a friendly doorman, games room and washing machines. Great spot. Our only issue was the wifi, which we could not get to work for our entire stay despite following the limited instructions provided.
Was an excellent place to stay in. Room was clean and location is perfect for going near tourist attractions. Host was quick to reply to any questions i had.
We took our kids into Chicago for a couple nights and this loft space was perfect for us. It provided more room than a hotel for us to share with our three kids. We walked to Lincoln Park Zoo and two different fantastic breakfast spots, which are all close to this loft. The kids enjoyed the rooftop hot tub after all the walking we did each day and others in the building were very friendly. Any questions I had, JoAnne answered them very quickly via text message.
JoAnne was very helpful and quick to respond. The loft was as described and very nice!
The location was ideal and the doorman was friendly and helpful. JoAnne was quick to respond to inquiries and brought an extra key when requested. There were three of us staying here. Instead of sleeping on the pull out sofa, I opted for the extra twin size bed. It's hard to tell from the photo, but the bed is wedged into a walk-in closet--comfortable as long as you're not claustrophobic. The pillowcases were yellowed and there were no duvet covers, but the towels were nice and white.
