About this listing
Plumfield Stable is a family homestead that is located on 230-acres of beautiful, rolling farmland located within the Eurkea Maple Woods of Wisconsin's Driftless Region. It is an active horse farm with both indoor and outdoor arenas. Supervised, in season trail rides are available on our homestead for an affordable fee for our guests. While you're here, you will enjoy the beauty of the hills and valleys as you view the immediate area from our ridgetop location and the quiet setting on a dead-end road. In addition to the breathtaking night sky and its incomprable display of stars, we often have an unobstructed view of sunrises and sunsets.
You'll see our Amish neighbors farming their land or heading to town in their buggies. You are also likely to see deer and wild turkeys in the fields.
Family Friendly? For the interest of children, there is a neat playhouse, as well as a 3-level tree house to explore. In the spring and summer, the children can also enjoy the baby ducks, baby goats, and baby rabbits. There might also be St. Bernard puppies and adorable kittens to play with! For the toddlers, there is an enclosed play area with a sandbox and swings.

Everything in the description was accurate. The place was spotless and beautiful. We enjoyed sunsets through the wall of windows in the living room, family talks while we held adorable baby bunnies, and hikes at Wildcat Mountain nearby. We sampled all sorts of delicious foods and lovely crafts from the Amish farms nearby. The peace and serenity of this place is very restorative.
Carol and Ron made us feel extremely welcome. They were so generous allowing us use of their amazing farm. They had so much for the kids to do: sports, playhouse, tree house, playground, animals, and they shared so openly. The house was just as we had expected--very clean and well equipped as well as comfortable. Carol and Ron could not have been more helpful and we enjoyed getting to know them.
We loved our family vacation here! Our boys got to roam around the farm, hold baby bunnies, play in the tree house, and ride horses. We enjoyed the beautiful, relaxing setting and the hosts were kind and helpful. We would love to go back someday!
Our family had a wonderful time on the Feltens' property. The Loft House was decorated in a western/horse theme and was the perfect size for our family of 4. Juice, milk and cinnamon rolls were left for us in the kitchen, which was a nice surprise. The kitchen was also stocked with some baking essentials and cereal.
The second bedroom doesn't have a window so we kept the door open at night so the kids could have some air circulation. We found the mattresses and bedding in both bedrooms to be nice and comfortable. It was quiet and peaceful at night and we all slept well.
Our kids made instant friends with the Feltens' grandchildren, and had a great time running around the farm and going on adventures. They loved petting the bunnies and riding the horses. Our daughter left behind a beloved stuffed animal and Carol kindly returned it in the mail. This is a very kid-friendly accommodation (though kid-free guests will also have a great time) and our family looks forward to returning.
My family had a wonderful time at Carol and Ron's guest house on their farm. We enjoyed their hospitality, their animals, but most of all the tranquility of their farm. We spent hours just sitting, absorbing the quiet, while looking at the 20-mile view from their ridge top location. The guest house was comfortable and roomy, as well as spotlessly clean. I highly recommend their guest house for anybody who wants to enjoy all that the Driftless Area of Wisconsin has to offer.
Staying in Ron and Carol's Loft guest house was a true blessing. It was clean and well kept. To God be the glory, great things he has done. It's definitely a worthwhile place to stay. At a humble price.
We loved our stay. The farm is beautiful and it was great to feel so welcome with our whole family including two dogs. We will love to stay again in the future.
About the Host, Carol
My husband, Ron, and I are in our 70's and we have shared 49 meaningful years of marriage together. In 1972, we purchased a 120 acres of farmland and moved here from Wausau, WI. Later we purchased another adjacent 120 acres of farmland. Our farm has been home to an unusually large family of biological and adopted children, all of whom are now grown. Our farm remains family-friendly. Our family has been supported by my husband's CPA practice which he operates out of our home.
The property with its hills and valleys is indescribably beautiful during all seasons of the year. The surrounding area, home to many Amish families, is quiet and offers a variety of activities for vacationers.
