Already one of the best locations in the Portobello area of Notting Hill, this trendy apartment has now been upgraded with a new firmer double bed and the installation of a new dedicated and faster broadband WiFi connection from December 2014.
The spacious lounge has high-ceilings and a huge window overlooking the vibrant restaurant area outside.
Behind a blue door [now blue/green], and just 18 yards from the famous Travel Bookshop in Notting Hill, this modern one-bedroom apartment is at the epicenter of the trendiest location in London. With a host of great restaurants, bars, boutiques and the world renowned Portobello Market just a few steps away, this chic little home just couldn't be better located.
The restaurant below the apartment was the often-mentioned bar/restaurant in the Bridget Jones’s Diary books, where she met up with her friends to talk about her love life and other things (well, mainly just her love life). Today, it is a great family-run Italian restaurant and, formerly known as just '192' (the original sign is still below the window), it was the popular haunt of media types and many a celeb – not just the British ones, but also Hollywood megastars when they were in town.
At the very hub of the Notting Hill scene, this little block alone boasts six fine restaurants and cafés, the famous 100-year-old and beautifully restored Electric Cinema and Brasserie, the Notting Hill Community Church and several of the area's trendiest clothing boutiques – all accessible without you even having to cross the road! There's also no need to leave the block to catch the brilliant 23 bus which will take you to dozens of London's top tourist attractions – including Paddington Station (with direct access to Heathrow Airport within 15 minutes), Marble Arch, Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, The Strand, Waterloo Bridge, Fleet Street, St Paul's Cathedral, The Bank Of England and Liverpool Street Station (with direct access to Stansted Airport) and close to trendy Brick Lane and Shoreditch. So, no need to take the Tourist Sightseeing Bus – this great regular local service practically has them all on its route for you already. And just a few yards away along the street, further local buses give you direct access to Notting Hill Gate, Kensington High Street, Kensington Palace & Gardens, The Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park, Knightsbridge, Harrods, Piccadilly Hard Rock Café, Buckingham Palace and Victoria Station (with direct access to Gatwick Airport).
All those famous landmarks easily reached without even having to venture onto the tube/subway system! But with two underground stations a short walk away – Ladbroke Grove five minutes (Zone 2) and Notting Hill Gate eight minutes (Zone 1) the whole of the capital is within easy reach. Without having to change trains from either station, the former is just 17 minutes to St Pancras International Station with direct access to Paris and Brussels (just over two hours away), and the latter a mere 8 minutes away from Oxford Circus. This apartment just couldn't be better located for everything this great city has to offer!
Whether you're staying for a long weekend, on vacation or on business, this apartment is a fully-fitted home from home and has a quiet working/study area in the bedroom at the rear of the property which includes a pine desk and laser printer and, of course, a WiFi internet connection is freely available. The kitchen is fully-fitted with a Smeg dual-halogen hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric fan-assisted oven and washer/dryer. There is gas central heating and hot water. We have recently added a child's travel cot, too!

Please note, the rates shown are for TWO ADULTS ONLY - children under the age of 18 are FREE but additional adults (a maximum of 2) are charged at the additional rate of £50 PER NIGHT EACH (approx $80 or €60 extra per night per person). If you have two children travelling with you, just put down the number of adults (ie, 1 or 2) so that you don't get charged any extra via the system. If you DO turn up with more than two adults in your party which was not indicated at the time of booking then you may be refused access and would therefore forfeit a 5-day booking fee according to the Airbnb Terms & Conditions. Finally, there is also a cleaning fee of £50 (approx $80 or €60) added to the overall bill to cover the cleaning and laundry fee irrespective of the number of days booked.

I spent 15 days in this lovely apartment in Notting Hill. Host was absolutely fantastic. He provided me with all instructions I need in advance and was very welcoming.
Pictures of the apartment are accurate and apartment was clear and bright. I had great supplies of toiletries, dish washing detergents, soaps and all I needed for the whole time I stayed there.
Location is truly fantastic, just step away from the famous Portobello Road and well known restaurants and shops.
My husband and I stayed at Lee's apartment in Notting Hill for a week. It was our first Airbnb experience and we loved it. Right up until our arrival, Lee was in contact giving us lots of useful tips for transport and stuff to do. The apartment was in a fabulous location with all the amenities we needed. The wifi worked well, and although the apartment is in a buzzing street , the noise was not bad. The bedroom was very quiet with a comfy bed although the bathroom was small it had great shelf space and the shower good water pressure. All in all it was a great stay and we wouldn't hesitate in recommending it. Super close to very reliable transport. Both bus and tube.
Notting Hill... The one neighborhood you want to immerse yourself in if staying in London, and Lee's place is situated perfectly within Notting Hill. Our stay at his place was pleasant:
- Location, because you really can't be better situated if you care for Notting Hill and the Portobello Market
- Communication; Lee always responded promptly and really helped us during our stay
- The area can be a little loud at times, so if you're a light sleeper, it's something to consider
- Reaching the flat can be a little difficult if you carry a stroller around town

We found the flat, the neighborhood and the transport links exactly as described in the listing. We simply loved the location of the flat. We had had to spend quite a bit of time indoors and we enjoyed the vibrant neighborhood.
The check in and check out process was smooth and we were received - in person - by Haydn.
The interiors are smart, neat and well maintained with careful attention to details. The space was adequate for my husband, my four year old and me. We found the larder well stocked. Availability of uninterrupted wi-fi - a high priority item -was a great relief.
Not only is the flat located close to two tube stations, it is also on the route of several buses, especially the 24 hour bus (Bus #23 ) that takes you to Marble Arch - Bond Street - Oxford Street - Piccadilly - the City ..and all the way to Liverpool Street. And, Portobello Market is just steps away.
I had signed up for this wanting to savor a slice of London's everyday life , and I am glad I did.
Also, must acknowledge Lee's prompt and clear responses to all our questions, at all times.
This apartment was everything we hoped for. A great home away from home and base for our time in London. Great location in between 2 tube stations. Lovely and quiet whilst still in a busy neighbourhood. Would highly recommend to others.
This apartment has a perfect location right in the heart of Notting Hill. Lots of restaurants, cafes and cute little shops at your doorstep. My wife and I and our two young children stayed here for four days. The apartment is well equipped both in the kitchen and with extra towels and bed linens. There is some noise from the outside (a fan and people in the street) in the late evening, but it was not a big problem for us. We would be very happy to stay here again.
I booked Lee's apartment for my parents who were visiting from Australia. Lee was quick to respond to my initial enquiry and confirm the booking. The check-in and check-out process were very seamless and all of the instructions were perfect. The apartment itself is renovated to a high standard, functional and clean. It makes for a perfect base to explore London. The location is ideal with excellent transport links and proximity to great restaurants, pubs, bars and amenities. I would very much recommend staying at Lee's apartment.
About the Host, Lee
I have worked in the media for the past 37 years – across publishing, advertising and for the last decade or so in the film industry. I'm currently a partner in an international talent agency and also write and consult on feature film script development and international co-productions. I love the media vibe and the unique creative energy that Notting Hill has to offer (which is why I moved there 13 years ago) but now new and exciting adventures are taking me to Vienna where I will be spending most of my time – hence I have decided to share my lovely apartment with you for the foreseeable future!
