Already one of the best locations in the Portobello area of Notting Hill, this trendy apartment has now been upgraded with a new firmer double bed and the installation of a new dedicated and faster broadband WiFi connection from December 2014.
The spacious lounge has high-ceilings and a huge window overlooking the vibrant restaurant area outside.
Behind a blue door [now blue/green], and just 18 yards from the famous Travel Bookshop in Notting Hill, this modern one-bedroom apartment is at the epicenter of the trendiest location in London. With a host of great restaurants, bars, boutiques and the world renowned Portobello Market just a few steps away, this chic little home just couldn't be better located.
The restaurant below the apartment was the often-mentioned bar/restaurant in the Bridget Jones’s Diary books, where she met up with her friends to talk about her love life and other things (well, mainly just her love life). Today, it is a great family-run Italian restaurant and, formerly known as just '192' (the original sign is still below the window), it was the popular haunt of media types and many a celeb – not just the British ones, but also Hollywood megastars when they were in town.
At the very hub of the Notting Hill scene, this little block alone boasts six fine restaurants and cafés, the famous 100-year-old and beautifully restored Electric Cinema and Brasserie, the Notting Hill Community Church and several of the area's trendiest clothing boutiques – all accessible without you even having to cross the road! There's also no need to leave the block to catch the brilliant 23 bus which will take you to dozens of London's top tourist attractions – including Paddington Station (with direct access to Heathrow Airport within 15 minutes), Marble Arch, Oxford Circus, Piccadilly Circus, Trafalgar Square, The Strand, Waterloo Bridge, Fleet Street, St Paul's Cathedral, The Bank Of England and Liverpool Street Station (with direct access to Stansted Airport) and close to trendy Brick Lane and Shoreditch. So, no need to take the Tourist Sightseeing Bus – this great regular local service practically has them all on its route for you already. And just a few yards away along the street, further local buses give you direct access to Notting Hill Gate, Kensington High Street, Kensington Palace & Gardens, The Royal Albert Hall, Hyde Park, Knightsbridge, Harrods, Piccadilly Hard Rock Café, Buckingham Palace and Victoria Station (with direct access to Gatwick Airport).
All those famous landmarks easily reached without even having to venture onto the tube/subway system! But with two underground stations a short walk away – Ladbroke Grove five minutes (Zone 2) and Notting Hill Gate eight minutes (Zone 1) the whole of the capital is within easy reach. Without having to change trains from either station, the former is just 17 minutes to St Pancras International Station with direct access to Paris and Brussels (just over two hours away), and the latter a mere 8 minutes away from Oxford Circus. This apartment just couldn't be better located for everything this great city has to offer!
Whether you're staying for a long weekend, on vacation or on business, this apartment is a fully-fitted home from home and has a quiet working/study area in the bedroom at the rear of the property which includes a pine desk and laser printer and, of course, a WiFi internet connection is freely available. The kitchen is fully-fitted with a Smeg dual-halogen hob, fridge/freezer, dishwasher, electric fan-assisted oven and washer/dryer. There is gas central heating and hot water.

Please note, the rates shown are for TWO ADULTS ONLY - children under the age of 18 are FREE but additional adults (a maximum of 2) are charged at the additional rate of £50 PER NIGHT EACH (approx $80 or €60 extra per night per person). If you have two children travelling with you, just put down the number of adults (ie, 1 or 2) so that you don't get charged any extra via the system. If you DO turn up with more than two adults in your party which was not indicated at the time of booking then you may be refused access and would therefore forfeit a 5-day booking fee according to the Airbnb Terms & Conditions. Finally, there is also a cleaning fee of £50 (approx $80 or €60) added to the overall bill to cover the cleaning and laundry fee irrespective of the number of days booked.

Lee's flat in Notting Hill was the perfect choice for a long business trip.
First, Lee was great to work with - very communicative and really made sure I had everything I needed (even helping figure out best options for scheduling the flat around other business travel I was doing in the EU).
Second, the flat itself was great. Great size for London. Plenty of living space to spread out and work when needed while also enjoying a lovely view of the neighborhood street below. Bedroom was great with a comfortable bed and the bathroom is a good size with a fantastic shower (that never ran out of hot water ever!). Kitchen is on the smaller side and so is not for anyone wanting to cook gourmet meals (which I didn't, so it was perfect!).
A quick note on the noise and wifi issues that others have mentioned...WiFi: I did notice that the WiFi dropped out occasionally but this was only generally when I was working late at night (like 2am) so not really an issue for most folks. Noise: I really only noticed noise in the living room next to the window (which seem to be single paned). The bedroom is located in the back of the flat away from the street which made it nice and quiet. I had no trouble sleeping.
Third, the location is amazing. A good 10 minute walk to the Notting Hill Gate underground stop though a bus stop is located right next door (however I recommend walking since it's a beautiful street!). Great restaurants in the area and the world famous Portobello market just around the corner. As a single female traveling alone, I felt safe in this neighborhood, even when walking home late at night.
Overall - I highly recommend both this flat and Lee. It's worth saying again that Lee was fantastic to work with and I couldn't have asked for anything more.
What a disappointment!!! After reading all the good comments, after exchanging with Lee some very nice messages - he did arrange everything so that we could enter the flat sooner - , we were happy to come in his apt, in a lively neighborhood.
We needed a place for 5 days before our settlement nearby : where we could be quiet, could work, could sleep well, could get out easily. For sure, it was easy to find a nice restaurant around.
1. Well, we assume today that Lee cannot be aware the restaurant has a huge fan issue (the chimney output is just in front of the bedroom's window) : every time the restaurant is open (noon, and evening), HUGE noise and vibration pervades the place until late at night. You cannot open the window in the bedroom or the noise is worth (and comes the pizza smell.....). It was very very annoying. Much noisier than the street.
2. There is NO internet connexion in the place but the possibility to connect to this damned restaurant wifi, or to a public wifi with the host's codes. Expect to try sometimes 10 times before having a loosy connection.
3. The bed was very very tiny, and very uncomfortable. One person there is average, 2 persons is a true limit experience.
We are just STUNNED we experienced something bad comparing to the 47 other commentaries who speak about this place like heaven. It looks like 2 different places.
Though we did not have luxury expectations, we are sorry to tell you dear Lee this place is not worth the price : we know appart'hotels around which are cheaper and much more comfortable.
I'm so sorry that you had a poor experience at the apartment - this is the first bad review I've had in the two and a half years that I've been renting it out through Airbnb so I am naturally devastated. The restaurant below has been having some work done recently and I must get the noise situation rectified with the restaurant owners as it clearly needs some adjustments.
As for the internet connection, I only suggest guests use the free connection available to the public downstairs because it is so simple to connect to and requires no password - I have used it myself for several years and this is not a problem for the restaurant. The apartment also has a back-up internet account of its own, as listed in the House Manual, in case there are any problems. Most people have had no problem at all - as can be seen by my previous [good] reviews, although one or two have had an issue with the signal strength on certain devices, but this is out of my control.
Finally, the bed is a standard UK double bed measuring 135cm wide (4ft 6ins) and is a brand new one with a new hypoallergenic topper which I find really cosy and comfortable - although I do appreciate that some people prefer a firmer mattress (but you can't please all of the people all of the time).
But in response to your criticism I will do all I can to improve the situation and get the noise level reduced from downstairs (I guess I just got used to it there over the last 10 years, as being part of 'living in the city').
I do appreciate your constructive criticism and will do what I can to address it as Airbnb has become such an important element in my life now and my income really does depend on it.
Lees flat in Nottinghill was the perfect place to base myself in London for 10 days! What a great location, I felt like I was one of the locals - surrounded by restaurants, bars and the amazing Portobello Rd and close to everything that makes London great!
It certainly was a memorable stay - one that I will never forget - thanks Lee for your help a perfect gentleman - I will certainly be back to stay again.

Lee Thomas was professional from end-to-end, beginning with the online communications in advance of our trip to the last day. This is a positive first sign. Here are my experiences and observations from staying at Lee's flat in Notting Hill:
* Excellent location, bar none. Simply do a (website hidden) Maps review and prospective visitors will see why. (Portobello Market, boutique shops and restaurants abound, beautiful residential architecture, and ample bus stops and proximity to the Notting Hill Gate tube).
* Lee leaves no detail untouched as he provides thorough information to help visitors navigate to and around his flat. A) Lee ensures that he provides primary, secondary, and tertiary contact information should there be a need to get in touch with someone. B) His housekeeper ensures that the flat is left clean and organized. C) There is a summary sheet that is provided to help visitors have a comfortable stay. D) Clean towels are provided.
* If you are traveling with children, the sofa in the living room expands into a sofa bed, which will comfortably fit two individuals.
* Lighting throughout the internal flat is bright.
* If you truly need a quiet space for any reason (for example - to take holiday respite from children, if you are looking for a space to write, work on a project, or have a quiet (email hidden)ease double check with Lee to ensure what surrounding work from restaurants/neighbors may be in-progress). Also, note that this is in a lively, vibrant part of neighborhood so it's a natural place to have a certain amount of energy.
Lee's flat in Notting Hill was a pleasure to stay at. Great location and even though we were staying with our two children there was enough space for us all to sleep.
It was clean and tidy and had everything you needed - including kids dvd's that kept them happy in the afternoons!
Stepping out of the front door and getting delicious coffee and being right in the heart of the portobello road area was wonderful.
Lee was fabulous at communication and accommodating our very late arrival and our check out. My only tiny criticism would be that the bed was quite small for two adults and the sofa bed was not all that comfortable. But other than that we had a really, really lovely time and would definitely love to stay again.
Location: Perfect,- close to two tube stations ,grocery stores,Kensington garden for walks, and in one of the prettiest little enclave of stores just around the corner from Portobello Rd market.
The whole area of Notting hill is beautiful with all the restored architecture,that we just walked and walked.
The Flat : simple ,well thought out with everything you need from cooking to entertainment to laundry facilities.
Communication with Lee: very easy with quick response and good ideas.
I think as a London location for work or travel it just doesn't get any better than this. It is just far enough away from the Center to allow you to feel relaxed when you get home. The walk from the tube is beautiful and safe ,it is also on a very good bus links right down into the center
I was visiting as a parent putting my child in a University and liked the area and location so much we are trying to buy a very similar flat, possibly the exact same one upstairs.

Absolutely fabulous location, great street with an amazing butcher across the street. The Portobello Market is terrific but even though just a block away it does not encroach on the quiet and neighborhood feel at the flat. Well furnished, comfortable, and we could have sat all day looking out the front window and watching the neighborhood.
