About This Listing
This lovely West Town 2BR is perfect for a romantic getaway, a summer crash pad or a bookish retreat! Located on the top floor of a 3rd floor walk-up on a quiet residential street, just a few blocks away from bars, shops and restaurants.
This apt is in the rear of building away from street, so incredibly quiet and peaceful with tons of natural sunlight. High ceilings, large windows, vintage furnishings, open floor plan with two bedrooms, one off the kitchen with a twin bed and 2nd bedroom off of the living room with a queen bed. The apt can fit up to 4 people with 2 on the queen, 1 on the twin and the fourth guest on an air mattress that fits in either twin room or living room.
I'm a big traveler and collector of treasures, so you will find the apt decorated with an eclectic array of vintage furnishings! A decorative Victorian couch, a lobster pot for a coffee table, an array of instruments for your use, and a sturdy record player with a fast-growing collection of records (particular exciting for the folk and classic rock fan)
There is a small back porch (accessible by a low window) that leads down to a back patio and garden, complete with fire pit AND grill. Perfect in the summertime.
Close to museums, Loop (15 min bus ride, 1 hr walk) 15 min walk to Blue Line. In a quiet neighborhood nook of West Town, great bars, restaurants, public library, vintage shops, pie place, etc all within a 5 minute walk. And Union Park which hosts the Pitchfork Festival is a 15 min walk away!
Perfect for an artistic retreat, bookish getaway, or a comfy crash pad after a day exploring Chicago architecture!
Wifi Internet, plenty of free street parking, good coffee, host on hand by cell should you need anything!
The entire apt is yours. The kitchen is well-stocked with amenities and you are welcome to use anything you require to make your stay more pleasant. The backyard is shared by the building's 5 other tenants, who are all friendly and welcoming should you run into anyone at the fire pit.
Interaction with Guests
If I am out of town I will be reachable by cell or email, and will leave you the contact info of my neighbor across the hall should you need anything immediately during your stay. If I am in town, I will be nearby should anything occur or reachable by cell if you need to know the good coffee shop!
It's a quiet residential neighborhood, tucked a few blocks in on each side from 4 exciting main drags. Chicago ave a mere 3 blocks away has lots of great restaurants, bars, a homemade pie shop, library, walgreens, taco joints, boutiques etc . I've lived here 4 years after living in 3 other neighborhoods and it's by far my favorite. Very close to downtown and remarkably easy to get around via the bus system on all the main roads nearby.
The Chicago, Grand, Damen and Ashland buses are all frequent and a couple to a few blocks away. The Blue line is a 15 min walk away, I like to rely on the buses because they are so close and come every 5-8 minutes. There is free parking on the street if you drove. It is an easy jaunt from OHare on the Blue Line, I am happy to give you directions from either airport when you book. Cabs downtown run around $10, and cab to Ohare is about $40.
Other Things to Note
I've been hosting for 2 years and I am so happy to lend out my place to travelers and guests! I've had wonderful experiences with all of my guests, and am happy to answer any of your questions about myself or the space.

record player comes with the host's ample folk collection. Prine, Townes and Baez fans rejoice!
Christine sent me a detailed text with everything I needed to know. The apt was fun and funky. The neighborhood was lively. Lots of great walking, coffee shops, etc. Loved so much about this.
Christine is a great host: she is very well organized and provided us with all the detailed information about the apartment days in advance before our trip. During the trip she was reachable at any time and answered promptly. She accomodated our request of having an extra set of keys in less than 24 hours.
She decorated the apartment in a very charming way and, especially with the sunlight, it is cozy and warm. Another good point is the location: very quiet and at just 15 min by bus from the loop.
The apartment and building have some flaws: first of all, as reported by others, the entrance, from the the rear door, and the stairs are stinky and not at all clean (cat pee?). However, I understand this is not under Christine's control. The electric system in the apartment does not seem very safe, e.g. many plugs to be fixed. Also note that the rooms, especially the bathroom, are small, so this is something to be aware of.
Christina's place was a good place to stay, close to a lot of my friend and I's venues for BluesShout dance event.
Her communication was excellent and made it fairly easy to get in and functioning.
Beds are one single bed in a room, queen in the main bedroom and one single air mattress (moderate comfort).
Kitchen was functional
Christine is very sweet and easy to communicate with, regardless of whether she's in Chicago or elsewhere. Getting in and out of the apartment was easy, and it's about 0.7 miles from the Division Station for the blue line.
The apartment itself is cute and comfortable enough for a few nights. I'd give the bed a 3 out 5. The kitchen has everything you'll need, but there is a water heater that sometimes makes noise at night. The shower is really small, but again, if you just need a practical, safe place, it definitely works.
Christine's apartment was a great place to stay in a fun neighborhood. Good restaurants close by and easy to get downtown. Christine responded quickly to any messages and questions.
Christine's place was wonderful. Beyond our expectations. She was a great host, she emailed us a list of great places to check out for dinner. We were thoroughly grateful for the degree of communication. Her place was cozy, charming, and welcoming. With a delightful amount of records to explore. We highly recommend her.

About the Host, Christine
I have lived in Chicago for 12 years after moving from the East Coast and absolutely love this city. I work as an actor and travel quite frequently. I have a penchant for vintage and antiques, so you will find the apartment full of character. Happy to share my recommendations for dining, shopping, nightlife, and weird and different local favorites for your stay. As a traveler, I favor mountains over cities, but have had a blast in Istanbul, Tokyo, and Berlin to name a few.
I have been hosting now for 3 years and couldn't have had better experiences each and every time. It has been a true pleasure, and I look forward to meeting you should you book my place!
