This lovely West Town 2BR is perfect for a romantic getaway, a summer crash pad or a bookish retreat! Located on the top floor of a 3rd floor walk-up on a quiet residential street, just a few blocks away from bars, shops and restaurants.

The Space

This apt is in the rear of building away from street, so incredibly quiet and peaceful with tons of natural sunlight. High ceilings, large windows, vintage furnishings, open floor plan with two bedrooms, one off the kitchen with a twin bed and 2nd bedroom off of the living room with a queen bed. The apt can fit up to 4 people with 2 on the queen, 1 on the twin and the fourth guest on an air mattress that fits in either twin room or living room.

I'm a big traveler and collector of treasures, so you will find the apt decorated with an eclectic array of vintage furnishings! A decorative Victorian couch, a lobster pot for a coffee table, an array of instruments for your use, and a sturdy record player with a fast-growing collection of records (particular exciting for the folk and classic rock fan)

There is a small back porch (accessible by a low window) that leads down to a back patio and garden, complete with fire pit AND grill. Perfect in the summertime.

Close to museums, Loop (15 min bus ride, 1 hr walk) 15 min walk to Blue Line. In a quiet neighborhood nook of West Town, great bars, restaurants, public library, vintage shops, pie place, etc all within a 5 minute walk. And Union Park which hosts the Pitchfork Festival is a 15 min walk away!

Perfect for an artistic retreat, bookish getaway, or a comfy crash pad after a day exploring Chicago architecture!

Wifi Internet, plenty of free street parking, good coffee, host on hand by cell should you need anything!

Guest Access

The entire apt is yours. The kitchen is well-stocked with amenities and you are welcome to use anything you require to make your stay more pleasant. The backyard is shared by the building's 5 other tenants, who are all friendly and welcoming should you run into anyone at the fire pit.

Interaction with Guests

If I am out of town I will be reachable by cell or email, and will leave you the contact info of my neighbor across the hall should you need anything immediately during your stay. If I am in town, I will be nearby should anything occur or reachable by cell if you need to know the good coffee shop!

The Neighborhood

It's a quiet residential neighborhood, tucked a few blocks in on each side from 4 exciting main drags. Chicago ave a mere 3 blocks away has lots of great restaurants, bars, a homemade pie shop, library, walgreens, taco joints, boutiques etc . I've lived here 4 years after living in 3 other neighborhoods and it's by far my favorite. Very close to downtown and remarkably easy to get around via the bus system on all the main roads nearby.

Getting around

The Chicago, Grand, Damen and Ashland buses are all frequent and a couple to a few blocks away. The Blue line is a 15 min walk away, I like to rely on the buses because they are so close and come every 5-8 minutes. There is free parking on the street if you drove. It is an easy jaunt from OHare on the Blue Line, I am happy to give you directions from either airport when you book. Cabs downtown run around $10, and cab to Ohare is about $40.

Other Things to Note

I've been hosting for 2 years and I am so happy to lend out my place to travelers and guests! I've had wonderful experiences with all of my guests, and am happy to answer any of your questions about myself or the space.

  • Christine's place was great! It's a cute and charming apartment located near bus stops, bike shares and super easy to get around. She also has a great record, book and musical instruments collection!

Christine was quick in responding to our questions and concerns and I would happily recommend her apartment as a place to stay when visiting Chicago!

  • We had a great experience at Christine's place! She was extremely helpful and responsive, especially since we were delayed and arrived much later than expected. The only issue we encountered was slight discomfort with the slightly creaky stairs leading up to her apartment, since my mom has bad knees, but this is no reflection on Christine. Easy walk to the El, and buses right outside. Lovely neighborhood.

  • We had a nice stay at Christine's place (4 nights with our baby girl). The apartment is well located in a quiet street only 15 min bus ride to downtown.
The ap is equipped with everything we needed and it was fun to listen vinyl disc on her vintage music player. The AC was really appreciated on those hot summer nights!
The communication with Christine was easy and she is so sweet!

I recommended her place to everybody!

  • Christine was a great host, and Christine's apartment was clean and convenient. Christine was very responsive to my emails and texts. My parents stayed here while they were in town for my graduation, and while they weren't at the apartment much, they found the apartment comfortable.

  • The apartment is, indeed, eclectic and fun with discoveries in every room. Be aware that it is on the third floor and plan luggage accordingly. Christine is a good comunicator, who kept in contact by text and phone, promptly solving the one small problem that arose (a circuit breaker).

  • Fantastic experience. Charming apartment in a great neighborhood. Close to many awesome coffee shops, bars, and restaurants. Walkable from Division blue line stop. Oh, and a quality record collection.

  • This apt is so cute! It was comfortable and the records were great. Outside though was a bit iffy. I know it's not under Christine's control but the hallway really stunk like cat pee and you enter in an alley way with no light which is a bit scary for an out of towner. I had my mother with me and she was a little freaked at first. Thankfully, once you're inside and the door is shut, it's another world.

  • Fascinating home in a great city! Me and my friends loved to stay in Christine´s place! - Just perfect!

    April 2014
  • We had a lovely stay at Christine's charming Chicago apartment. This is a fun, welcoming space, on a cool block, and it was very easy to relax here. Christine was there to greet us and offered helpful restaurant suggestions. There was good coffee in the freezer, and great records to play. If you're not driving, get a CTA one- or three-day pass because you'll be using the buses a lot, but the system works great and we were able to get everywhere really quickly and easily. Recommended - if we're back in Chicago we'd love to stay again!

  • Christine's place was perfect for our trip to Chicago! The apartment was just like the photos. We enjoyed her record collection and musical instruments immensely. It was also nice to sit on the back porch and enjoy some fresh air!

About
I have lived in Chicago for 10 years after moving from the east coast and absolutely love the city. I am an actor and musician who works here in the city and regionally, allowing me to travel quite frequently. I have a penchant for vintage, so you will find the apartment full of character. A foodie- you will find I am quite versed in local restaurants and am happy to share my knowledge. When not working, I try to travel abroad-- Berlin, Chile, Istanbul being some of my favorite destinations. I have been hosting now for two years and couldn't have had better experiences each and every time. It has been a true pleasure, and I look forward to meeting you should you book my place!
