Cosy room with attached balcony in Maastricht.
My apartment is located about 10 minutes walking from the famous square 'the Vrijthof' in the hearth of Maastricht. This square has attracted people since Medieval times when pilgrims came to see the grave of Saint Servatius. These days, Vrijthof is known for its outdoor cafés and events. The apartmentbuilding is easily accesible by public transportation.
The room has a single boxspringbed and a comfortable two seat sofa in it and is situated next to the bathroom with connected, separate toilet. Please email me if you like to use the room with two, the second person can sleep on the red sofa which is large enough and comfortable.
There is free WIFI in the room, a laptop with speakers and a yogamat is available for your convenience. You can make use of the kitchen and the washing machine/dryer.
Nextdoors is a Turkish Mosque which is open for fresh groceries all day to prepare your meals.
Maastricht is located on the Meuse river in the South East of the Netherlands, wedged between Belgium and Germany and is considered to be the oldest and sunniest city of Holland. The Dutch have a legendary reputation for tolerance and free thinking.
Maastricht has a lot to see and offers many museums, churches, historical buildings, hidden alleys and spacious squares. You can find any form of architecture here, ranging from Roman excavations to the modern design of the Bonnefantenmuseum.
This city appears to come straight out of a fairytale. The foreign atmosphere, beautiful Roman architecture and white facades both impress and inspire. The city’s location on the Maas river undoubtedly adds to this effect. Certain locations in the city allow you to take a peak over the city walls. Before crossing the Maas into the city centre if you come from the Trainstation, you will pass the Rechtstraat and Hoogbrugstraat, two extraordinary shopping streets, well worth a visit.
Wander the narrow, winding streets of the medieval center. Go to Bassin, a harbor area loaded with restaurants, see the city walls and the Hoge Fronten, an 17th/18th century bastion and the tunnels underneath. Then head over to the recently renovated Markt (Market square) where you'll find the interesting city hall. Have Gothic dreams in the 'Kruisherenhotel' when you go for a drink in the transformed 15th century Church and Monastery of the "Crutched Friars" right in downtown Maastricht.
Maastricht is also considered one of the Gastronomic capitals of the region, having five Michelin-starred restaurants and four within walking distance of each other. At one time Maastricht was a leading fine wine producer, but Napoleon pulled up all the vines out of jealousy, it is said.
I look forward to welcome you! Please contact me if you have any questions.
Review from Clayton Horton living in Borac, Philippines who stayed in my room when he was in Maastricht for a yoga event:

Me and my partner were very very happy to stay in Katja's home. The room was welcoming with a close attention to detail; like yummy fruit, empty closets and a mini fridge. Though the bed was a single, the two of us were very comfortable for 4 nights. Thank you Katja for a wonderful stay! We loved visiting Maastricht and hope to visit you again soon!
Everything was perfect :-) Thank you very much :-)
Katja is a very friendly, warm and welcoming person. Her apartment is clean and comfortable. The city center is not so far , the view is great. I can fully recommend her place .Thank you!
The room was very cosy, everything was clean and Katja was a great host. She was always friendly, helpful and ready for a chat. I had a really nice 1 month stay with and at her place. I only can recommend the Comfortable & Cosy Ganesh Room in Maastricht!
There was no double bed! So one of us had to sleep on a terrible small coach. If you are traveling alone it doesn't bother. But as a couple it is not very romantic. Katia didn't
mention it when we made the reservation, although she knew we were visiting Maastricht as a couple. It is also not very clear if you look at the pictures.
A bit pricy, for this accommodation if you can't sleep next to each other.
I stayed with my boyfriend at Katjas place and we can recommend her as a host. We could use the kitchen to cook and had every stuff we needed in the room. The bed is small but two peple can easily fit in it. You have a great view over the city and its just a few minutes walk to town. Katja was very helpful and friendly. We had a pleasant stay.
Katja was very friendly and helpful and provided us with all we needed. Communication was easy, the room and also the rest of the house clean and cosy. Spent a really nice time and I can only recommend her as a host!
Katja is a very welcoming, kind, open-minded person who loves a chat, but also respects your privacy. The room is clean, the bed is nice, the couch is comfy. Her house is easily reached by multiple busses or by bike and near downtown Maastricht. I've had a very pleasant stay at Katja's.
The room was small but clean and sufficiently large for all my luggage. Katja as host was very welcoming und friendly.
Katja and Matthew are 2 wonderful hosts. They made me felt at home. They are kind, easy going and helpful. I made use of their kitchen and washing facility without any problem. They even loaned me their notebook for entire stay, that was very wonderful. Guess what Matthew gave me a free tour around bordering Belgium, Maastricht and Valkenburg on my last day. He made me felt like a queen...We went to many beautiful places and he was my personal guide, explaining to me in English what most things are all about. In Netherlands, all the sign boards are in Dutch and even the guided tours were explained in Dutch. One can get quite lost with all the written and spoken Dutch if you don't understand Dutch. I would strongly recommend you to stay with Katja if you ever plan to stay in Maastricht.
