The cottage is nestled amidst an Apple Orchard with hundreds of Apple trees spread over 5 Acres of terraced land. There is a lush green uninhabited valley below, with massive snowbound Himalayan peaks ahead on the horizon.

Being away from the main road and surrounded by other orchards, the setting is cocooned and cosy. And yet, with the cottage perched on the high edge of a hill, the views are unobstructed and expansive all around.

The catchword here is 'Cosy Expansiveness'.

The space
The living space is big enough to provide modern comforts, and small enough to not take away from the wilderness around it.

All outside spaces have been designed to maximize North facing views of heavily forested hills and the great Himalayan snow-caps further beyond.

On rainy days, sip your hot tea on the porch and take in the green lushness of the hills all around.

On clear cloudless days, perch yourself on the terrace and gaze at the mighty Himalayas.

Walk around the Apple, Kiwi and Walnut trees. If Apples are in bloom, learn how to pick them from trees - there is an art to it.

Climb up to the top of the Orchard and try to spot deer emerging from the thick forest valley below.

At nights, sit around a bonfire on the patio, below an open, crisply starred sky.

Or perhaps stay in for a while, with friends and family gathered in the small living room, all bunched up over a crackling evening fire.

Some of the activities to do are:

Trek to Surkanda Devi: This is a gem of a trek, starting only about 1.5 km from the Cottage. It is not to be confused with the popular route to the temple taken by most pilgrims, that starts a further 4 km away. This alternate back route takes you through thick forest trails and meadow like alpine clearings. It is unlikely that you will encounter anyone on this 1.5 to 2 hour climb that takes you up to 9,000 feet. Highly recommended.

Explore the Kaudia Forest: Located about 3 km from the cottage is the entrance to the Kaudia Reserve Forest trail. This trail descends into the forest and makes a great excursion to spot rare birds and animals. A wonderful picnic trip that can be done on foot or through a prearranged Jeep Safari.

Drive to Tehri Dam & Lake: A 1 hour drive away is the highest large dam in India. The damming of the Bhagirathi river has created a massive lake. Water adventure activities are available here.

Off the beaten path trails: A walk to a hidden waterfall or to an old Forest Service watchtower are some below the radar trips. Our caretaker knows many more!

Guest access
The entire cottage (bedrooms, living room, kitchen, porch, patio)

Other things to note
Private Access to 2nd Bedroom - The First Floor Bedroom is accessed via a spiral staircase from outside the cottage. It's almost like a separate private unit.

Phone Coverage: There is 4g coverage available via Airtel, Jio, Idea,BSNL. The signal strength is decent outside, but gets patchy inside the cottage.

The place is looked after by a caretaker, 'Dambar Bahadur Oli'. His family stays on the property, in a separate unit near the main cottage.

There is an extra folding bed available. It can be used in the living room. So the total number of adults that can be comfortably accommodated is 5.

Within 400 meters are small village shops that cater for essential groceries. A 30 minute ride away is the hill town of Chamba, which has many more choices available.

Food: You are free to bring and cook your own rations. Otherwise, we can prepare meals for you at a predetermined rate. A simple breakfast is complimentary.
