Open, spacious and sunny vacation home, perfect for families. The property is on safe and private road surrounded by lush trees, lovely gardens and your very own koi pond.
Private residence with full kitchen, beach chairs, beach bag/cooler and beach towels provided, along with free kayaking/paddle boarding and chickens on the property that you can feed!
One mile from town and a 10 minute bike ride to the beach.

The space
Start your day off right by enjoying a cup of coffee on the covered veranda. Sit back and relax on the outdoor rocking chairs while you listen to the soothing sounds of the waterfall in the koi pond. Take in the fresh island salt air and let the frogs serenade you.

Not only is this location perfect for accessing Oak Bluffs restaurants and outdoor activities, but it also offers a peaceful neighborhood setting.

Step inside the home and you'll be greeted by its original charm and beautiful cathedral ceilings. Natural light floods the space through two large skylights, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere. You can feel the love that has been poured into this home.

As you explore, you'll discover unique artwork created by Chick's mom, a talented island ceramist. The hand-painted island wildflowers, island map, and kitchen backsplash adorned with Vineyard grapes were all designed specifically for this space.

At night, let the frogs serenade you once again. Whether it's the bullfrogs from the pond or the Pinkletinks nearby, their melodic sounds will lull you to sleep. Despite being close to town, this private oasis is surrounded by trees, hanging flower baskets, and located on a dead-end road, providing a quiet and convenient retreat. And don't forget to join us in feeding the chickens during your stay!

The kitchen is spacious and well-stocked, and even has a brand new dishwasher. Because even on vacation, a dishwasher is a necessity! The vaulted ceiling and French doors flood the space with natural light, making it a joy to cook and gather in.

If you're looking for a cozy spot to relax, we have a special reading nook with hand-carved teak panels. Or, if you're in the mood for some friendly competition, gather your family for a foosball tournament. We also provide games, cards, a cribbage board, books, and of course, coffee - all the necessities for a memorable stay.

The master bedroom features a comfortable king bed, fresh white linens, and a spacious closet. With its many windows, you'll have privacy while still enjoying the natural light and views of the surrounding trees. The second bedroom is perfect for kids, with four twin beds and plenty of space to relax and play. It can also accommodate four adults if needed.

The spacious covered porch is the perfect spot to relax all year round! Get ready for an outdoor movie night by setting up the projector while you unwind in your rocking chairs. Adjacent to the porch is a stunning koi pond, ideal for sipping wine and watching the fish and frogs!

In the main living area, you'll discover a large dining table that seats eight and can be extended to accommodate twelve, great for hosting gatherings and family meals. The dining room flows into a cozy living room, furnished with two couches, two swivel chairs, and a TV.

During the summer, there's a large ceiling fan in the main room and multiple fans in each bedroom. This property doesn't have air conditioning, but with all the windows and doors open, it's quite pleasant - especially in the evenings when you can listen to the trees and the waterfall in the pond instead of a noisy AC unit.

For the winter months, there's a propane-powered Renai unit in the living room.

The bathroom has been completely renovated and features a luxurious walk-in shower, wall-mounted faucet, and complimentary toiletries.

Our rescue dogs, Bailey & Sandy live here too! An invisible fence prevents them from entering any guest space and parking area. You may hear them bark, but the only thing to fear is their kisses. Bailey & Sandy are both rescue dogs from Vieques, Puerto Rico and love any attention you may be willing to spare.

Neighborhood highlights

The suite is located down a quiet street surrounded by trees in Oak Bluffs. Ride your bike 10 minutes into town for shopping and food, and relax in Ocean Park. Just outside the street is a bus stop. We are also about 15 minutes by bike from Inkwell Beach, Town Beach and State Beach!

Chick Stapleton Owner, Island Spirit Kayak Chick started Island Spirit Kayak twenty three years ago, after graduating Boston University and a two-year internship with the Sydney Olympic Committee. Her passion for paddling and travel inspired her to work for other kayak companies around the world in the off season to gain experience to then grow her own. She became a certified instructor trainer and was able to paddle for other companies in New Zealand, Australia, Thailand, Nova Scotia, Panama, Hong Kong, San Francisco, Myanmar and most recently; Vieques, Puerto Rico. Among her many adventures, she paddled over a Great White, was capsized by a whale, camped in a bat cave, experienced Williwaws and kayaked with a gibbon. Island Spirit Kayak is now a team of sixteen paddlers strong, all of who are dedicated to helping others learn and appreciate the aquaculture of our ponds and barrier beaches. Chick and Tyler have two sons whom are now the fourth generation of islanders to live and appreciate the water on the Vineyard and are already in training to become future leaders of environmental impacts on our oceans and for Island Spirit Kayak.
