About this listing
Peaceful, private room with own bathroom available. 2 windows overlooking the front yard and north side of the house. Nice breezes. The bedroom is at the end of the hall, and the bathroom just off the hallway next door.
The house has hardwood floors, two fireplaces, a full kitchen, wireless and a big food garden instead of a lawn. My former lawn is now a thriving food garden.
Ojai is getting "hipper," see (website hidden)
Kid and senior friendly. I have an 4-year old, who runs around and plays. She awakens early, so sleeping in is not really easy. Do you like kids?
There is a large, sunny redwood deck in the private backyard, perfect for yoga.
Downtown Ojai is an easy twenty minute walk. Bring or rent a bike from a shop (50$ per week, Ojai Bicycles). You can store it in the garage.
Ojai Valley, "Valley of the Moon," is a serene, peaceful place. Ojai has the feel of a small American town, but has a hip culture, complete with exceptional local food and interesting people. You can slow down here, enjoy the sunshine, or hop on a bicycle and cycle past orange trees. Or if you like to cycle, ride down the bike path to the beach 13 miles (20 km) in Ventura. Santa Barbara is also a serene 40 minute drive north past Lake Casitas on the 150. There are many easy or challenging hiking trails, starting 5 minutes away in the Los Padres National Forest. Get a massage at a spa, take a yoga class at Lulu Bandhas, play tennis for free downtown, visit the Raptor Center, or try out the super restaurants.
There is a lively art scene downtown, including live music, and many different types of workshops. If you like bookstores, visit Bart's Books, or if you want to see a unique library, visit Krotona Library and explore the beautiful grounds. Or visit Meditation Mount on the full moon (or any day) to get a fabulous view of Ojai Valley. There are many festivals: the Ojai Film Festival, Music Festival, Lavender Festival, the Writer's Festival... Or get more involved in the community by and volunteer to plant trees, remove non- native vegetation in Libbey Park. There is an amazing Farmer's Market every Sunday from 9-1 pm that features a lot of local produce.
My neighborhood is quiet, with lots of birds and kids. The neighbors keep and eye on things and are interesting, though rarely seen!
Professionally I have a PhD in Political Science and lecture at Cal State Channel Islands. I'm an avid outdoor person, and the hiking here is excellent. I look forward to lively discussions and to meeting you. I speak fluent German and welcome the opportunity to practice my Spanish!

Other Things to Note
Sorry, no pets.
Please park on the street in front of my house, thanks.
If you hike or walk in the garden, please take off your shoes when you come in the front door. I prefer guests to be shoeless, but I'm not a stickler if your shoes are clean.
No pets due to bad experiences with dogs peeing inside. I'm sorry, as I love animals!
The house is handicap friendly, e.g., no stairs. It's all on one level and easy to navigate. However, the doors are not wide enough for a wheelchair.
Suzanne is a very friendly Hostess. And her daughter is Sweet. We had a nice Time and it was very interesting to Talk to her. Thanks for The good advices for Dinner and The nice Beach.
Suzanne was extremely accommodating taking a reservation after 6 p.m. for that same night. Her home is as lovely as pictured. Her yard is more fabulous than pictured with fruit trees & a swing in the front overlooking the vegetable gardens and a huge shaded deck in the back. There are large windows everywhere letting in the lovely breezes. The bedding was top notch. Thank you Suzanne and Savannah!
The host canceled this reservation 7 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
I just stayed at Suzanne's house for one night so didn't have time to chat much. But the room was great, the house is perfectly located and it's ideal if you need a place to stay in Ojai. Thank you so much Suzanne!
A couple of caveats: the bed is more of a full-size, not queen. It might be too small for taller/bigger couples. Also, the walls are thin. If you are looking for a private and quiet retreat, this family home is not for you.
Having said that, we were pleased with our stay. Suzanne is a very friendly host and her home is lovely, with a wonderful fruit and vegetable garden. The room is cute and has plenty of storage. Having our own bathroom (toiletries and towels kindly provided) just next to our room was a huge plus. My husband and I enjoyed stargazing on the deck and just taking in the fresh air and peacefulness of Ojai. It was a great weekend.
Suzanne was very hospitable and helpful. We arrived on the first night later than expected, but she was still accommodating. The room is very pretty and the bathroom stocked with everything you need. The neighborhood is quiet and safe.
Our two nights at Suzanne's were a treat. Nice cozy room and bath, in great home and inviting neighborhood. And Savannah is a delightful little girl.

About the Host, Suzanne
I'm outgoing and interested in life. Professionally, I research young people's political attitudes and skills (PhD in Political Science) and like discussing current affairs, political psychology and life's big questions. I've seen quite a bit of the world, and choose to live in Ojai (plus British Columbia and Mexico for a month or two a year). I turned my yard into an organic farm! Orange, apricot, plum, tangerine, fig- lots of fruit trees! I'm into a sustainable lifestyle. I like yoga, fresh local food, gardening, playing with my daughter Savanna. I like to swim and to hike, play beach volleyball, and to ride my bike. Current heroes: Gandhi, E.O Wilson, LBJ, those who made the Arab Spring happen, environmentalists and my friends.
