The Space

(Please see minimum rental periods and rates at bottom of this description. For example, during the months of July and August, we only rent week to week, from Saturday to Saturday.)

This apartment is not your traditional “granite countertops” rental space, but a sun-filled, games-filled, summer-camp-like beach house. The 150-year old building has charm, character and history (and the scuffs to prove it). Over the years, it’s been home to a rope maker's workshop, an auto mechanics garage, a flower shop, an antique store and a cheese market.

The owners are Provincetown residents who'd be happy to help you figure out how to spend your time in town.

Features:
-Two beds that comfortably sleep four people (1 queen and 1 full)
-Full bathroom with shower
-Large furnished deck overlooking Commercial Street with small grill
-Hammock to be used for lounging
-Two air conditioners and baseboard heat. You can see photo and explanation of AC units in the photos above
-Wifi
-Beach access on the property
-Access to 4 kayaks
-Dart board, games, beach items, easel
-Cape Cod-themed books and guidebooks

Other things to know:
-Please see photo of the kitchen -- it is not a "proper" kitchen. We provide a fridge, coffee maker, hot pot, dishes, flatware, cooler, grill and grill utensils, but there is no kitchen sink, oven or stove. This should work for anyone planning on making simple meals, grilling out, and dining out. But it won't be the right fit for someone looking to prepare home-style meals. Guests can bring dishes downstairs to be cleaned in the restaurant.
-Apartment is on the second floor of the building, which houses a casual restaurant called The Canteen on the first floor. The restaurant is open from 11 to 11.
-The owners live in the building (adjacent apartment) and own the restaurant below.
-Apartment is one large open space with curtains that can be pulled to separate the bedroom from the rest of the space.

4 people max (please ask if more)
Not suitable for small children
No smoking
No TV
No on-site parking. Town parking lot is nearby, however. For more information, search for "Grace Hall Parking Lot Provincetown" through your favorite search engine.

Interaction with Guests

We live and work in the building but go about our own busy lives! We are usually around somewhere in the restaurant if you have any questions.

The Neighborhood

Our apartment is located in the center of town, steps away from restaurants, stores, shows, beaches, whale watching, and historical sites. There's no better people watching in the world than on Commercial Street during the summer.

Getting around

All of Provincetown is accessible on foot or bike.

Other Things to Note

Many people ask about the noise level. Here's my best answer: Although the apartment is on Commercial Street and above a restaurant, we haven't had a complaint about noise during our 3 years of renting out the space. Don't expect the apartment to be monastery-like, but the noise doesn't seem to travel up to the apartment.

  • We had a wonderfull stay att Rob and Loics appartment! It was the first time for us to book via AirBnB and we are 100% satisfied! The appartment was big and full of light and had lots of fun features. The kids loved it too! The location was perfect, but if you want it quiet during the night you might want to choose something less central. Rob and Loic were very helpfull and super nice! Thums up on all levels!

  • Had an amazing 3 days in Provincetown! First time using airbnb! Was super impressed with Rob and Loic and there place is amazing. Loved the deck, the beach and the hammock. Went kayaking and biking and enjoyed having a few drinks at the local bars which are all within a 5 minute walk tops!!! Loved it!!!

  • "This place is amazing" is what my friends couldn't stop saying when they finally saw this place. All of the action in PTown happens on Commercial Street, and this place is in the most CENTRAL location I could imagine. Everything was 1-3 blocks away at all times. With the deck overlooking the street, you don't even need to go to any bars! Loic and Rob were excellent hosts - always helpful and attentive. Like all the other reviewers have said, you MUST try the lobster roll in their restaurant downstairs. This place was everything we wanted, and then some. Cannot recommend it enough.

  • Rob and Loic’s studio is great. Hosts were very nice and friendly, giving us our space and privacy. It has all the amenities one needs to have light meals and rest very comfortably. The decoration is very cool. It has an excellent location where you can see all the fun from Provincetown all day long. The huge deck is a big plus, one can spend the whole day there enjoying the sun and seeing people pass by. Their restaurant downstairs is awesome the lobster roll with coleslaw is the best we ever had. If you really want to experience the fun of Provincetown, come and stay in this super fun studio. We stayed only for the weekend and regretted that didn’t book it for longer time. We are already planning to come back next year and hopefully stay longer.

  • We had a wonderful time. Rob and Loic were great hosts. They welcomed us, not only to their apartment, but also to their wonderful restaurant the Canteen, right downstairs. We look forward to traveling there again.

  • we had an amazing time staying at this wonderful place.Very cosy, comfortable and specious room.Rob and Loic are friendly and helpful hosts, and their restaurant (right downstairs) is a must try when you are looking for a good food. We also enjoyed kayaking and nice roof deck patio drinking our rose, watching people and listening to accordionist (and drag queen later that night) .What a great atmosphere right in a heart of Provincetown! We will definitely come back. Thank you guys again for making our stay unforgettable! yarick&mike

  • Rob and Loic were unobtrusive yet available whenever we needed them. Their staff at The Canteen were considerate and knowledgeable. The place itself is funky. If you're looking for a traditional experience, this is not it. But if you want what has to be the best location in P'town at the best price, stay here. It's fun, surprisingly quiet, and the hosts will meet all your needs promptly and with a smile.
Be sure to order the lobster roll with the local beer they have on tap. Deeeevine.
    We'll definitely be back.

  • I and my friend Jim loved staying at Rob and Loic's place and enjoyed every minute of it in spite of bad weather. We will spread the news and possibly go back. Ciao from Anita and Jim

  • Rob and Loic are considerate and experienced hosts. They don't just provide towels, dishes and clean bedding, but a number of thoughtful amenities as well. Salt-water taffy on the table. A box of travel-sized toiletries outside the bathroom. Jugs of water in the fridge. Heavy curtains to keep out the morning sun. The list goes on. There isn't much of a kitchen, but they're upfront about it and you really shouldn't be making your own food. You should be downstairs in The Canteen eating a Kale and Linguicia sandwich. Even though it's on a busy street and right above their restaurant, we found it quiet and tranquil in the actual apartment. Take a nap on the hammock, enjoy your morning coffee on the deck, and take a walk behind the building onto the beach. This place has it all! Perfectly located in the heart of P-town (seriously, you can NOT find better situated lodging), clean, possessing both a quintessential "Cape" and a quirky vintage atmosphere. Stop looking around and book this apartment. Change your vacation dates if you have to, because I swear to you that it is absolutely worth it. Places like this are what elevate Airbnb from a simple place to stay to an amazing experience that will transform your entire vacation into something unforgettable.

  • Rob and Loic were excellent hosts and everything was just as they described. The apartment was absolutely lovely and we especially loved utilizing the large outdoor deck area that nicely overlooks the main street in Provincetown. The apartment's location was extremely convenient and both Rob and Loic were welcoming hosts. Their restaurant, located just downstairs, was also delicious and definitely worth going to. We had a great weekend and definitely recommend this listing!

About
Hi there! We're restaurant owners from Provincetown, Massachusetts. We rent out the space above our restaurant, The Canteen. When we're on the road, it usually has something to do with friends, food or furniture. Probably all three. Rob grew up in the Midwest, and has the manners to prove it. Loic (low-eek) grew up in France, but, strangely, doesn't really have the accent to prove it. We've had great experiences hosting and traveling through AirBnB.
