As its name suggests, The RhodoDen is a cozy 1974 Airstream Argosy nestled among the rhododendron of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Set along a trickling creek with a bonfire ring and a view of nearby Watch Knob, this is "glamping" at its finest. RhodoDen provides an idyllic place to relax, and is a great basecamp for hiking adventures, dining and nightlife in Asheville and Black Mountain, both of which are only 15 minutes away. Plus we are pet friendly!

The space
The RhodoDen is a 27 foot 1974 Airstream Argosy. It was our (Christina and Alex) home for several months while our house was being built. Now, we're very excited to share the vintage camper's unique charms, and our love for this area, with our guests. Set deep in the woods, the RhodoDen is quiet except for the trickling creek. The porch faces west toward Watch Knob, providing a secluded sunset view. Inside is our hand-picked record collection, a lending library, and a small selection of classic DVDs. Fire up the heater in the winter for a cozy night in, or start an actual campfire along the creek to roast marshmallows. We hope you'll enjoy the beauty of the land in any way you see fit!

Sleeping:

Inside the Airstream you’ll find a comfortable full mattress that sleeps 2.

Cooking:

We provide a butane burner, electric kettle, a dining booth and clean (hot/cold) water for drinking and washing up. The kitchen is stocked with plates, bowls, cups, silverware, wine tool, french press, a frying pan and a refrigerator for your perishables.

Showering:

The RhodoDen has a hot shower! But please be aware that it's not connected to a full-size water heater. The hot water will last about six minutes; Christina says it's plenty to wash her mane!

Bathroom:

The RhodoDen has a full bathroom, but please only use the indoor toilet for liquid waste (no toilet paper or #2!) All water used in the Airstream, including the sink, shower and toilet, drain out into an underground leech field. Follow the footbridge across the creek to access the outhouse for all other needs. Thank you! The path to the outhouse is lighted and the outhouse itself is fully equipped with toilet paper and hand sanitizer for you.

Cell phone and internet:

There is minimal to zero cell phone service. If you have a smart phone or computer, WiFi is available! Our WiFi access information will be provided in the Airstream.

SURROUNDING AREAS

15 Minutes to the west in Asheville, and the same to the east in Black Mountain, you’ll find top-notch dining, coffee, music, and nightlife. Plus, Pisgah Brewing Company is less than 7 miles away with live musical performances and incredible brews. The Blue Ridge Parkway and Pisgah National Forrest, packed with hiking trails, is 10 minutes away, and Great Smokey Mountains National Park is just over an hour away. Charles Owen Park is less than 2 miles away with a playground, baseball field, fishing pond, and hiking trails leading through Warren Wilson College. We’ll provide you with a list of our favorite places to eat, drink and hike.
