Other Things to Note
This place we excellent. It had everything we would need for basics and then some added extras. The location is amazing, and we enjoyed the pool and hot tub. Having usage of the BBQs on the grounds was great! i would totally recommend this place and go again!
We had a pleasant stay at this condo. it had met our basic needs, e.g. good location to nearby restaurants, stores and easy beach access. The grounds have a nice pool & hot tub as well.
The recent review of mildew stench was not the case for us, fortunately!
It was a tidy and stench-free room.
We would book here again if we come back to Kapaa.
We had a great stay. Perfect location for exploring the Island. The room was nice and clean. Would recommend it to anyone.

DON’T BOOK THIS PLACE! Unless you don’t mind the smell of mildew from the moment you walk into the room. The smell doesn’t stop there, all the sheets, pillows and towels smell like mildew too. We turned on the A/C and sprayed the room the moment we arrived to kill the smell, but every time we walked back in the smell was still there. We ended up buying towels and sheets of our own, so we can enjoy the rest of our stay. Although we are no experts, we strongly believe the unit has bed bugs. On our first night, we all got bit, but thought it was possibly mosquitos (even though we didn’t see any). As the nights progressed, we noticed we weren’t getting bit through our day adventures and would only have new bites after waking up. The biting got so extreme, my girlfriend didn’t sleep on the bed to test out our theory, and sure enough she woke up that morning bite free. We stayed on the island for a week, a couple days into our stay the pool and Jacuzzi was closed for reconstruction and to fix the plumbing (it was having problems cleaning the water) which is something we would’ve liked to have notice of prior to booking. Nobody wants to be on vacation and be woken up by construction work. We attempted to bring up to Wade’s attention, but he wasn’t very responsive. Upon our arrival, we attempted to also contact him about the broom that is listed on the welcome letter in the unit and there was no reply. When we finally got ahold of him he wasn’t very concern about the issues. He did mention he would have his crew check the unit, AFTER WE LEAVE! While on the phone, he mentioned he hasn’t been on the island in a year and is aware of the mildew smell because of some recent reviews who have also mentioned it. Why wasn’t it taken care of? –it’s what we are all wondering. On the day of our departure, we forgot to leave one of the keys in the unit, so we returned after check out time to leave the key. The maid of course asked who we were, we explained we had checked out that day and forgot to leave one of the keys. She allowed us entry to drop of the key. While inside, she began to tell us we were very disgusting dirty people. Not only was that unprofessional, but given that the only thing left in the room was 2 alcohol bottles in the fridge and the sheets & towels we bought (piled up together for wash), so they can use/have because we couldn’t take it on the plane, I wouldn’t call that dirty. We even took out all the trash! Again, this was mentioned to Wade, he did apologize, but mentioned it might have been someone his maid hired to clean the unit- not his actual maid, because he doesn’t...
Aloha, I take great pride in my vacation rentals. The guests booked my unit and did not communicate any issues until their last day. I responded immediately to their concern about bites on their legs. I checked the unit immediately and found that no bed bugs existed and that the bites were from mosquitos only. Of course I could not give them the discount they requested on their last day, so they berated my cleaning crew. As I write this response I have just returned from Kauai inspecting the units and found that my cleaning crew is doing a great job and the units look clean and comfortable. In this case the guest should receive the negative review.
We had such a great time at the Islander, the location was perfect if you want to explore The Garden Isle by car and drive along the beautiful east coast up to the north or down south to Hanapepe etc. We woke up early every morning and when we stepped outside on the lanai, you heard and saw the ocean. Magical! The place was clean and nice, we did our own breakfast there and it suited us well. The pool area was nice but what we really fell in love with was the private and amazing beach that was just 70 meters from the apartment. Super calm, a bit wavy but that didn't concern us. We actually swam with giant turtles at that beach. Awesome!!! Wade was always quick to respond if we had my questions but we actually didn't contact him that many times since everything went very smooth and the place was easy and welcoming.
Wade responded to our needs right away via phone. We loved happy hour at the pool every night to wind down. Grounds were beautiful! It is NOT a swimming beach however, so I would not recommend it to families, plus the pool is not fenced and the ground level units have open decks, so the little ones could just walk right to the pool area.
