Centrally located, beachfront hotel with plantation-style charm
Great beachfront location, adjacent to the boutiques and restaurants at Coconut Marketplace.
Located on a nearly deserted beach, this East Kauai resort hotel offers sweeping views of the Pacific and provides a central location for exploring both North and South Kauai.
Let the sounds of the ocean rock you to sleep every night at this intimate, low-rise beachfront hotel. Located on Kauai’s Coconut Coast, Islander on the Beach is set amid six acres of beautifully landscaped gardens and swaying palm trees.
Both contemporary and nostalgic, Islander on the Beach features thatched huts, hand-carved furnishings and plantation-style décor. The beachfront pool area offers barbecue areas, a large, sparkling pool, jet spa (email hidden).
Had a great time! Perfect location, awesome view, very clean and welcoming.
Good location on the east shore of the island. Kapaa has a lot of restaurants and a few good ones within walking distance. The complex was nice with the pool and ocean right there. Pool bar very reasonably priced drinks and happy hour from 4-6pm. A little disappointed with the room. Wifi was completely unusable, which was very inconvenient, as we had waited to book some excursions and wanted to look up hikes and other points of interest on the island. Wade did respond quickly to our trouble with the internet and said other routers had issues during a power surge and would try to get us a new router. However, this did not happen and had no internet for our entire stay. Not the biggest deal, just an inconvenience when you are relying on it. Room itself was a little different than pictures, and wondering if the pictures were of one of his different units. Same basic idea, 2 beds, but different TV and linens. Lanai does not face the ocean, but you do have a decent view and can hear waves from the room. Not the coziest place, but did the job. Also, the shower curtain liner was moldy and gross. An easy fix, but not exactly ideal when you want to enjoy your time in paradise.
Wade was helpful by phone and e-mail though we never actually met him. the room was excellent -- private, quiet, well appointed, nice kitchenette facilities. The resort, with laundry, pool, free parking close by was lovely. Nice pool bar. I enjoyed the beach very much! This is a great location for getting to any place on the island. And always a fresh ocean breeze!
Loved staying here! Enough said.
The room was certainly reasonable for the price, but I prefer a place that feels more like a BnB than a hotel. It was nice to be by the beach and hear the waves, but the beach is not good for swimming. I'm not a pool user, so a swimmable beach is important to me.We did find a couple of nice coffee shops in Kapa'a, and have no real complaints about the accommodation, I would just prefer something a bit cozier.
Personally, in Kauai, I'd recommend staying on the North Shore or in Poipu, not halfway between.
The grounds, pool, lobby, landscaping, beach access, & weekday coffee, juice, & fruit served at outdoor lobby were beautiful! This is a very lovely place to stay with parking, walks to Coconut Marketplace, peace & quiet, & a small Farmer's Market at CoconutMarket on Tues/Thurs. Great central location close to airport & Paka'a Town with easy access to highways & byways.
The room has a lovely lanai with great ocean/garden view where we spent much of our apartment time. It's a basic 2 bed hotel-type room w/ small frig & sink, microwave, & dishware. Size was fine for the 2 of us for a week. Some maintenance is needed & the WIFI service was unreliable.
A nice basic spot on beautiful Kauai!
This place is perfectly situated to explore the entire island of Kauai with just a short drive north or south. The unit is clean and has pretty much everything you could need - plates, cups, silverware, microwave, mini fridge, towels, beach towels. It is a short walk to the beach, which has plenty of chairs to sit and take in the view. The pool and hot tub area also has a bar, so be sure to grab a Mai Tai or Pina Colada. A couple of nice surprises were the 3 gas grills available for use by the pool, and the free Kauai coffee from 8-9 every weekday morning. Parking was a little tight and you definitely need to grab the parking pass from the front desk. Helpful tip: #318 is in the Hawaii building on the left hand side of the property.
We enjoyed our stay at this unit. The floor at first did not look clean but this was because of the stone tiles in the unit. It was in fact very clean. The pictures are a bit deceiving since the unit is at 90 degrees to the ocean but on the balcony you can see the ocean. The direction favors sitting out all day without being afraid of direct sun. The small kitchenette is set up for four people and includes microwave, coffee maker (filters are not the correct size), toaster, dishes and cutlery. It is in an ideal location for going either north or south to different attractions. The island being small means a drive of no more than an hour and a half to any location. The unit is on the third floor with no elevators which might be a problem for anyone with a handicap. In total you don't go to Kauai to stay in a room so the unit served the purpose of sleeping and making light snacks. The Coconut Market is close with restaurants and stores. Swimming on the beach is not recommended according to the posted signs but other beaches are close as well as a golf coarse.
Nice place to sleep after exploring the island.
