About This Listing
If you're visiting London alone for adventures, work, study or to hook up with friends, this cosy little single room is all you need. It's in a really central flat, in a friendly, scruffy Edwardian red brick apartment block in the Barbican area of the City of London. Right in the middle of the newly trendy area of St Luke's/Whitecross St, near Clerkenwell and Shoreditch and within easy reach of the West End and the river, it's ideal for exploring London.
With wood floors throughout, my flat is simply, comfortably and a bit quirkily furnished. There are five smallish rooms, - double bedroom, single bedroom, kitchen, sitting room, bathroom with shower - and a long hallway. Windows are double-glazed and there's gas central heating, WiFi (i.e: wireless broadband), TV, DVD etc. The single bed is new and has a new mattress too.
It's not in these pics, but there's now a desk in the single room for work/study/laptop too.
My neighbours are great and there's no noise from above, as I'm on the fifth (top) floor. So there's plenty of light but there's no lift, so you need to be OK with stairs!
The area's friendly and local - a little residential pocket within the city. Supermarket and daily street market just 30yds away, the Barbican Arts Centre 3 mins walk, (including cinema, theatre, concert hall, art gallery, cafes etc.), Bunhill Fields, cafes, restaurants, shops etc. all around.
It's also amazingly convenient for getting around - you're twenty minutes' walk to Brick Lane, Spitalfields, Smithfields and Columbia Rd Markets, plus the Museum of London, the Thames, St Paul's, the Tate Gallery and more.
Public Transport is very easy - Barbican, Moorgate and Old St tubes are all within 5 minutes' walk, taking you in different directions. Liverpool St and Farringdon rail stations are nearby, plus lots of buses and even bike hire.
At the moment I'm only listing my single room, but contact me if you're interested in renting the whole apartment (i.e: double room and one/two singles) for a limited period - e.g: shopping trips, half term break, Xmas, summer holiday etc - as I'm sometimes away working.
- No smokers, please, and no extra guests without prior arrangement.
- Help yourself to food etc. but if you use a lot of something, please replace it.
- Similarly, accidents happen - but if you break something let me know, so I can replace it for my next guest.
Arrival and leaving:
These times are flexible - but that means for both of us, and of course for my other guests. So if someone's leaving on the day you arrive (or arriving on the day you leave) I need to adapt for both of you. In general, arriving early evening and leaving by late morning works well. But if there's a problem with this let me know - I'll do all I can to help.
At the end of your stay:
Unless we've arranged otherwise between us, please:
- strip your bed of duvet cover, pillowcases and sheet, and leave them piled up on the bed.
- Take your own rubbish down to the chute or the recycling bin, as appropriate.
- Don't forget to leave your keys! They're expensive to replace...
But in general, this is a home, not a hotel - yours as well as mine while you stay - so treat it kindly, smile at my neighbours, and enjoy it!
Tessa is very nice, and so sweet!!
Her house is very lovely, like old england.
The area is very quite ,convienent and safety, it is good for everyone.
She always tells me about popular market or delicious food, let me enjoy the tour !!
Thank u for everything!!
I will miss u!!
I truly enjoyed staying at Tessa’s ; the location of her flat is perfect, very close to three Tube stations, with Waitrose – which closes à 10pm – literally across the street, together with eating places, but I just loved the vintage cooker in her kitchen. I even walked to Spitalfields and Bricklane markets, a very helpful suggestion from Tessa – by the way, thanks for writing this very helpful leaflet/guide about your flat and sightseeing activities, tremendously helpful, as Tessa and I only met on my last morning there but I wish I had stayed on a bit more to keep talking !! Her place is super quiet, just the place to unwind after the bustle of the city, the room and bed very cozy/comfy and the whole flat ever so tastefully decorated, with loads of charm !
i had an absolutely fabulous time at tessa's place...it is clean, quiet, comfortable and charming....it's very well located for accessing the west end, and has some interesting venues nearby... the neighbourhood seems perfectly safe and pleasant....tessa herself is kind, friendly and interesting....always ready to talk but respectful of one's privacy...gives good advice....i recommend her place without any reservations...you'll be very lucky if she can accommodate you!
A fabulous experience. Tessa's apartment had everything I needed with wonderful atmosphere, organisation and communication. I would definitely return!
Tessa was a great host, and my stay was excellent. The apartment is exactly as described and is located in a strategic position: 5 minutes to everything you may need. Highly recommended.
i enjoyed my stay at tessas place and she was very friendly and helpfull
to me and would certainly stay there again
Rekommenderas helt klart!
