The Space

Room in Villa located near the lake of Albano (Castel Gandolfo) and the Pope's summer residence.

My house is situated about 50 km from 'Fiumicino airport, and about 10 km from' Ciampino airport.
To go to Rome the distance is about 20 km.
Very close to my house you will find:
at 2-km the stop of the bus (which leads directly to ANAGNINA STATION (STATION OF METRO) and from here you can easily reach the historic center of Rome), and
at 3-km Station of the "Castel Gandolfo" (here you can take the train to Termini Station, ticket 2.10 euro , 35 minutes).

You will find a cozy room with single beds(which can become a double bed), very bright and really the ideal place to relax. Also available for guests with a bathroom with bath, TV, fireplace and internet access. There is also the possibility to use the kitchen
In addition to this near my house there is the wonderful Lake Albano, who would absolutely see. Nearby you will also find a small village, Castel Gandolfo where the pope's summer residence and many other monuments.

  • I had a great stay in this room right outside of lake albano, near castle gandolfo. The place is very nice, and the room is large and comfortable. The best is the host Guisy, and her sister who is always cooking something great. Her son was also able to translate in English and Spanish for me because she doesn't speak English but it was no problem either way. They are more than hospitable and i got a ride to the train station whenever I wanted, plus they where always making sure I was fine. It is a short walk to the lake which is beautiful and has a bunch of restaurants, and the house located in a beautiful landscape around fruit trees and vineyards.

  • Very nice place, a little ways from Rome (~30 minutes) but very quiet and pleasant. We only spent one night here but he gave us a ride to the market and to the bus stop.

  • Guisy and her family are very kind people, their house is spacious and comfortable, and the room and bed were clean. However our expectations, based on the reviews, were perhaps raised too high, as this was not a great experience for us, despite their best efforts. We stayed for a week in Autumn, choosing it as a base to explore the countryside and Rome, and it's also handy for Ciampino airport. The lake is beautiful from a distance, but considering the Pope has a summer residence here and there are many large villas with estates and guard dogs (bring earplugs!) we were surpised to find the beach dirty and the area rather run down. There is little to do and no nearby grocery stores to buy food or breakfast, only a handful of restaurants and gelaterias. Getting to and from Rome was not as straightforward as it looked; there are trains (hourly or less), but the 35 minute walk to the station involves a long hill and an unpleasant, poorly-lit road tunnel. We were most grateful for lifts when we had luggage or shopping but didn't feel comfortable having to ask each time, inconveniencing the family or getting them out of bed. One (very wet) day, it took over 3 hours to get back from Rome – one train was too overcrowded to squeeze in a single extra body, the next broke down, and the next was half an hour late! We made the best of it and the family’s thoughtful touches were much appreciated, but other things didn't help: we were not aware of or offered other facilities of the house (sitting area, TV, laundry), there was no local information (maps, timetables, local sites, walks etc), and internet connection was very hit or miss. There was no hot water on 3 mornings (apparently the pump was broken) and no water at all on our final morning! Sadly, we were relieved to leave. With hindsight this was not a suitable location for our purposes, and we cannot recommend it unless you have a car and speak enough Italian to communicate your needs. Sorry Guisy!

  • We have had a wonderful stay with Giuseppina and her family! Our hosts were very friendly and nothing was a problem. We loved the location and enjoyed lovely views in Castel Gandolfo. It is 35 minutes away from Rome, but the train tickets are very cheap, and our hosts were always willing to give as lifts to and from the station. Thank you very much for your hospitality, we will definitely recommend you to all our friends and family. Best wishes!

  • very welcoming family.

Several other nationalities staying there too, Landlady didn't speak English but still great company during the short stay and taught me some Italian! Great bolognaise cook also ;)

The house is in a very rural area and 2.5km walk from the nearby train station up and down hills and trains every hour to Rome city centre.

Great place but a bit too far out from Rome for the purpose of my stay.

Would recommend to anyone wanting to enjoy the fantastic countryside around Rome.

  • Our story...:) :) :) well, well, well to start with....Giuseppina's son Stephano was kind enough to accept our last minute request.

Well the beautiful bunglaw was located pretty outside Rome, but that turned out to be a blessing in disguise for us! We loved the serenity of the area..the amazing view from the hills...the near by lake....the bountiful trees loaded with fruits...and the wonderful hosting!

Stephano was forever amusing with his jokes and innocence...the beautiful Guiseppina comforted us with her motherly affection and Aunt was a cute lady whose delicious food we enjoyed!
