In addition to "a place of your own", Airbnb limits rental descriptions to "private room" and "shared room" neither of which describe the fact that our space is one entire floor, totally private, separate from the main home and guests have complete ability to be self-sufficient there. It is further described as a "Guest Suite" in a home. I contacted Jennifer 4 days before her arrival to ask if she would be needing the second room normally used for longer stays (dining/food storage/prep, etc.). For the one night booking, she responded it was a place to "shower and sleep" so the second room was not prepared. A microwave and TV are not listed as amenities at Hinesburg Hideaway. Wi-fi and access to the main kitchen for cooking meals are listed amenities. Jennifer ended up bringing a guest which was unexpected, but lovely. As I left to run errands they were invited to "make themselves at home" so the kitchen was all theirs. Guests familiar with Airbnb vs. a hotel would have no reason to feel awkward, but we never want to disappoint so encourage travelers to read listings to avoid misunderstanding.
