This is your chance to live in a classic Victorian cottage while you explore the Bay Area. Our home has been completely restored to its original grandeur, yet the amenities are modern. We live in a quiet neighborhood,in an island city, only 20 minutes by car, bus or ferry to San Francisco. We are also 1 hour away from the wine country (Napa or Sonoma) and 3 hours from Lake Tahoe. Alameda is a great place for walking, biking, kite surfing or laying on the beach (we have the only beach in the bay) There are 8 Marinas here if boating is your thing. We also have great restaurants and a beautiful Art Deco movie theater, Across the estuary is Jack London Square in Oakland where you will find more ways to entertain yourselves.
There are two bedrooms with an adjoining bath so it is best for two couples or a couple with one or 2 children. You will find a continental breakfast with coffee or tea in the kitchen when you wake up in the morning, and can have your breakfast at the table overlooking the garden. Although we don't offer full kitchen privileges, you are welcome to store food and drinks in the frig. We will be happy to help you plan your stay while you are with us, and offer suggestions for where to go and what is a must to see.
We are a short bus ride to the BART (bay area rapid transit) station which will take you to SF in about 15 minutes. Or you can take the ferry, which is a great way to get out on the bay and see the city from a different viewpoint. In the summer you can also get to Angel Island without a stop in SF first.
The TWO bedrooms, and adjoining bath, and the half bath. Kitchen in the morning for continental breakfast. Wifi internet access throughout the house. There is a garden in back where you can sit and relax.

We live on a quiet street in an Island city. Yet we are only 20 minutes from all of the culture and charm that San Francisco has to offer. Alameda is a very walkable town, and we have the only beach in SF bay. Check out this program about Alameda.

Marilyn and Alan were lovely. Very welcoming, friendly, and fun to talk to. We enjoyed their cute cat too. The porch is beautiful....we spent a few nights talking with our friends outside. This is a perfect spot for 2 couples. We traveled to San Francisco, Sonoma Valley, and took scenic ride up hwy 1 ....Marilyn and Alex really helped with directions and recommendations. We would come back again!!!
Marylin and Alan are very nice and helpful. We stayed for four nights and felt very welcome and like home. The house ist very big, clean and everything as described. The beds are perfect. The neighbourhood is very nice, too. Marylin and Alan prepared a breakfast with coffee, jam, fruits and homemade bread (!) every day. Great service. Alameda is a nice little town - Marylin and Alan give you good tips where to eat. To get to San Fran we took the ferry. It is easy and takes you to the Ferry Building in about half an hour. Thanks for this nice stay. We will come back!!
We were welcomed by Alan after our flight was delayed. He spent some time showing us around the house and telling us about the local area.
I had never stayed in Alameda even though I visit the San Francisco Bay Area frequently. Both Alameda and the house were well situated. We did have a car so getting around wasn't a problem and we did take the ferry to San Francisco for the day.
Their cat is very friendly and welcoming, too.
We would be happy to stay with Alan and Marilyn again.
The reservation was canceled 50 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
This gorgeous house was a welcome quiet sanctuary after spending our hectic days running around enjoying all the Bay Area has to offer. Marilyn was gracious, helpful, and communicative. An added bonus for us was an adorable and extremely friendly resident cat. We fell in love with Alameda and would definitely come back to stay at this house again.
Marilyn and Alan are awesome. The are such a fine couple. Their house is so cozy and comfortable. Alameda is a perfect place to live. It's not far from San Francisco and definitely easy to park. Quite at night and gave us a good environment to rest when we still had our jet-legs. We will for sure stay there next time.
First of all Mr.Pomeroy welcomed us very nice although it was night and we were late. We were 2 couples and they gave us two beautiful and clean rooms. Bed were comfortable. Also we have own clean and large bathroom. But it could be said this house is expensive especially if you stay long. On the other hand they were use another place at home, They had only seen when they were ask about how is it going and do we need something. So we used that amazing house like an owner. I wish i had much time to talking them. Alameda is very good place to stay because like a film scene which seen in American movies. Victorian style houses, green gardens etc. Breakfast were good but not like Reach Turkish breakfast. Especially fresh bread were delicious which made by Pomeroys :)
At the same time there is something should be say about Alameda. Alameda is close to San Francisco but not in the Sanfrancisco. If you have car like us, its not matter. You can arrive SF 15-20 minutes by car. Even if you can use Ferry but Alameda Ferry Station is not close to house. We used Ferry once and we use our car for arrive there. It can be take much time by bus. Also its 25 dollars round trip per person. Think about it before desicion about Alameda.
Thanks for all to Pomeroys. We recommend this beautiful decorated house.
Not sure what Erhan meant about the price of the ferry, which is $6.25 for adults and $3.10 for seniors, one way. Perhaps the confusion is due to his misunderstanding of our "foreign currency" . The bus fare is cheaper still, and you also have the option of using the BART from the station just over in DT Oakland. There is a local bus that will get you to the BART station in about 10 minutes.

About the Host, Marilyn And Alan
We are a retired couple with an empty nest and a big house. I was formerly a realtor and have a background in the apparel business. My husband was a general contractor. We are active and engaged in the community and love to help our guests get the most out of the Bay Area. We also love to travel and try to make our house the place we would most like to stay when away from home. In other words, a welcoming and accommodating environment where you can feel at home.
" My wife and myself stayed with Alan and Marilyn's place four nights and it was all a very comfortable and relaxing experience. The house is beautiful inside and out with a breakfast nook/kitchen overlooking a beautifully landscaped garden. The house is located in an upscale and quiet neighborhood in Alameda with the dead end street towards the Bay water. Location is convenient to all places in the Bay areas with easy commute to San Francisco, El Cerrito, Berkeley. We would certainly love to stay with them when we get the opportunity to travel back to San Francisco. Thanks Al and Marilyn!"Max and Ligaya S
