Formidable séjour chez Ilya. L'appartement etait spacieux propre et à proximité du subway.
My second visit to llya's studio just as nice as the first time. Very clean and cozy!! One of my top choices when coming to visit NYC
ILya's place (Zebra flat) shows that Queens is becoming a popular place of New York City. First off, the flat is just like the pictures show. It's very clean and the bed very, very comfortable. The kitchen has essential utensils to prepare simple food, all in very good state. My girl and I even had a romantic dinner within the flat (only because it was freezing outside). Perhaps the one best thing about the place is the LOCATION. It's close to 2 subways stations and to Steinway street which is full of great commerce (Beauty shops, pharmacies in every corner, food markets, Victoria secret, GAP, etc), cuisine, and nightlife (quite a lot well-know bars and hookah lounges). The Kaufman theatre is close by, perhaps one of the best movie theatres in Queens. We felt very secure throughout our stay, and ILya was prompt in answering all of our questions.
Big thanks to ILya. Definitely worth the money.
Ilya was a wonderful host and his space is great for young travelers who are comfortable with living as part of the city and not tourists. I'm from DC so I'm used to the sounds of a bustling city. The building is right next to the Subway. Super convenient, but noisy if you're a light sleeper. The space was a bit smaller than what I go for but it is kept very clean and looks just as described. This was my first time using his space, but I would stay with Ilya again. There's a market and many quick places to eat just steps from his apartment which made grabbing a quick bite/stocking up on snacks super convenient upon arrival.
I had a good time at the Zebra studio! I would definitely recommend it to my buddies BUT you would have to be 100% sure you would be ok with the train noise. I am a very flexible person that doesn't really mind the noise but it was a problem for my friend.
Great little studio! It was a perfect place to stay for a few nights while in New York. Astoria is a fun neighborhood with some very tasty restaurants. The train is literally right outside the window, so make sure to bring earplugs to sleep through the night. Ilya was a wonderful host. Will definitely be staying here again.
We had a great stay at this little place.. close to the subway and lots of food places and supermarkets.. Ilya is a great host and was very helpful. Thank you.. looking forward to stay there again.
The apartment is generously sized for a studio and has lots of storage space. The neighbourhood is great: a wide range if places to eat from the cheep and cheerful (Dino's Pizzeria, Lots o Bagels) to the foodies' delights (Locale, Sanfords and The Strand Smokehouse.)
You're within walking distance of the Socrates Sculpture Park and MoMI. The Q and N are regular, fast links to Manhattan and Brooklyn.
If you're not used to urban soundscapes do pack earplugs - the elevated section of the subway runs right by the window.
Other nice features: the fast and reliable WiFi, the great heating, and the proximity to a good laundromat and a supermarket.
I recommend this place as a base of operations for a medium to long stay in NYC.
Ilya's Zebra studio was very clean and well looked after. Just a stone’s throw from the Astoria Blvd station, at which trains take 10-15 mins into Manhattan, the apartment is in a great location. The Astoria area itself has a unique and genuine sense of friendliness and community that I am yet to find elsewhere in NY. The local bars / restaurants are great!
Ilya as a host was very approachable and throughout the stay he was available by phone if there was anything we needed and actively went out of his way to ensure our stay went smoothly. I certainly recommend his Zebra Studio and would stay there again in a heartbeat. Cheers for a great stay Ilya.
Very close to the subway station which makes things a lot easier.
The neighborhod has a lot of stores and restaurants.
The apartament is a lit bit noisy because of the subway, but walking in NYC all day made us so tired that it didn't bother us.
The apartament is tiny but cozy! I definitely recommend!
