We had the best time at Ilya's apartment. This is the second time I stay at one of his places and I can assure I'll be back. This is a very cozy and luminous Studio, we felt like home and the neighborhood is also very safe as well as full of restaurants, bars and stores to go if you just want to explore Astoria.
We had no issues at check in, in fact Ilya agreed to leave us the keys earlier since our flight arrived in the morning. As soon as we got there we rang the doorbell and a friend of him kindly received us and showed us the apt. We haven't had the chance to meet Ilya in person since he was on a trip, but he was always willing to answer to all my questions.
I need to highlight that the bed was crazy comfortable, after a long day walking around the city I'm sure everyone needs this as much as we did. And the train is noisy, but tired as we were we honestly didn't hear a thing for as long as we were asleep.
Being that said, I highly recommend Ilya's apartment, it is beautiful, safe and so close to Manhattan that you can even go back to leave your shopping bags and then return for an event on a very short time ;)
Ilya might be one of the most patient people I've met. My friend from overseas was visiting and there was some confusion about when they might arrive to the studio. I was away at the time and my foreign friend check in alone. Ilya could not be there, but a polite and courteous friend was there to introduce the property.
The apartment itself is great. It's very clean and rather large for a studio. However, the best part by far is the location. It was my first time in Astoria, Queens, and I cannot wait to go back. It is an amazing blend of culture and language from all over the world, with the same traditional feel and friendliness of NYC.
The subway outside is noticeable, but then, it's hard to beat the convenience of having a subway less than 5 minutes away, especially that close to Manhattan.
All in all, it was a great experience and I hope to stay there again in the future!
A great little apartment for our weekend stay in NYC. Extremely convenient $15 taxi including tip from LaGuardia. Ilya was extremely responsive and the place was well stocked. Not a place for light sleepers because of the train, but the perfect place to crash after a long day of shopping and eating. We recommend the Brooklyn Bagel and Coffee Company for breakfast. 10 minutes or so to Manhattan and 15 minutes to Flushing for great Sunday dim sum.
Ilya's place was clean and perfectly located right next to the train as well as lots of stores and places to eat. It was a nice place and I had a good stay.
Recomendo, bom custo-benefício!
Me and my girlfriend spent 12 nights in this cozy studio apartment and our overall opinion is good. Clean and cozy place, just as we can see in the pictures. Near the metro, safe place to arrive late, with some good bars and markets near. Everything worked fine during our stay. We appreciate, and would stay there again!
All was as Ilya described. The apartment was clean and tidy. The location is excellent - right around the corner from restaurants and shops on Broadway. Just an FYI, there is not a coffee pot but there is a kettle for boiling water for tea. The location next to the subway tracks and noise of the trains was not a problem for me. The apartment was very warm when I arrived (77) and Ilya had the super address the next morning.
