The Space

This is your chance to live in a classic Victorian cottage while you explore the Bay Area. Our home has been completely restored, yet the amenities are modern. We live in a quiet neighborhood,in an island city, only 20 minutes by car, bus or ferry to San Francisco. The bus stop is only a couple of blocks from the house. If you choose to rent a car, there is ample street parking as well.
We are also 1 hour away from the wine country (Napa or Sonoma) and 3 hours from Lake Tahoe. Alameda is a great place for walking, biking, kite surfing or laying on the beach (we have the only beach in the bay) There are 8 Marinas here if boating is your thing. We also have great restaurants and a beautiful Art Deco movie theater, There are over 3000 Victorian homes on the island, second only to San Francisco.
Across the estuary is Jack London Square in Oakland where you will find more ways to entertain yourselves.Of course, there are many more activities in San Francisco, and we will do all we can to help you get the most out of your stay.
The room is light and bright with antique furnishings and a private bath. Best for one person or a couple.
We will provide coffee fruit and muffins for breakfast.

  • My wife and myself stayed with Alan and Marilyn's place four nights and it was all a very comfortable and relaxing experience. The house is beautiful inside and out with a breakfast nook/kitchen overlooking a beautifully landscaped garden. The house is located in an upscale and quiet neighborhood in Alameda with the dead end street towards the Bay water. Location is convenient to all places in the Bay areas with easy commute to San Francisco, El Cerrito, Berkeley.
We would certainly love to stay with them when we get the opportunity to travel back to San Francisco.
    Thanks Al and Marilyn!

  • Marilyn and Alan's place is wonderful! We stayed here as a couple for 4 nights. We booked the room with the double but since the queen size was available, our hosts graciously bumped us into the larger room. The room was super comfortable, spotless and fabulously decorated. We stayed here in June and the house smelled of fresh roses and lavender. Alan and Marilyn are classy and fun, and we looked forward to chatting with them.

We spent our days in SF - so we took the ferry over in the morning and back each night. It was about a 20min trip. There was free parking at the Alameda terminal.

  • I enjoyed my stay in this beautiful Victorian house that was conveniently located near my family so that I could easily visit them. The house was expertly decorated with a loving touch and had a beautiful and wonderful smelling garden. I had a clean private bath and a comfortable bed. I was happy to have ample parking right in front of the house. I would definitely stay at this house again.

About
We are a retired couple with an empty nest and a big house. I was formerly a realtor and have a background in the apparel business. My husband was a general contractor. We are active and engaged in the community and love to help our guests get the most out of the Bay Area. We also love to travel and try to make our house the place we would most like to stay when away from home. In other words, a welcoming and accommodating environment where you can feel at home.
