I love East Village because the neighborhood fill with down to earth people, families, lots of culture, and artists. Also SUPER SAFE neighborhood.

This is apartment was a great place to stay for our NY adventure! It's very conveniently located near a subway stop, a 24-hour grocery just downstairs, and many places to eat just outside the building door. The apartment was bigger than expected for New York so it was roomy enough for the 3 of us.
The neighborhood was very lively at night which just proves that it's the city that never sleeps. There was always something to do and we always felt safe no matter what time we returned to the apartment.
Gigi was a great host. We had the extra towels we requested and Gigi called to make sure we got settled in.
I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
The place has really good and convenient location. You can walk easily to Chelsea, West/East Village, Noho, Soho, Chinatown and other interesting places in that area.
But the place is not quiet at night. You should use earplugs if you want to have calm and nice sleep especially at weekends. Many clubs and bars on the street open until late night. Opposite side of it is that you can have nice breakfast/lunch/dinner in 1 minute walking distance.
The location is really the key here. It is wonderful lively location and apartment has all what is needed. Gigi is most helpful on help what is needed. One must remember that it is older NYC apartment on lower east side so that comes with character. I would say it is perfect for young people trying to explore city. Third floor is lit bit limiting for those whom are use to elevators.
Gigi's place was great , warm and cozi like it says on the tin.
Friendly neighbors and some of the best Japanese food in NYC right downstairs. Definitely stay there again and more than happy to recommend to other visitors .
I adored staying at Gigi's apartment! It's super well-located in the East Village on a very happening street with lots of affordable Asian food and a 24-hour grocery right outside the door. The apartment was exactly as advertised. Gigi was great - she checked in to see how things were going, and when we needed some extra towels it was no problem at all. I would definitely stay here again!
Thank you so much Elizabeth! Really greatly appreciated for the reviews :) Wish you all the best! Elizabeth stayed with you on Jan 05, 2014
Love: Location, bedroom, great wifi, TV/Netflix. The apartment was pretty spacious too for the area. Kitchen was adequately stocked with everything (pots, plates, etc) I needed during my stay.
The apartment worked but we were disappointed in its overall condition. The light fixture in the front bedroom was a 3 socket fixture with a bare bulb and in the second bedroom , the light fixture did not work reliably. There was an issue with mice as well.
The TV did not work at first but the owner did fix that promptly.
I would not stay there again to be honest...
The Maguire family had total 6 guests and had tons of stuff inside the
apt., not the cleanest at all to begin with. Light fixture were having some
problem but everything were fixed and taking care of. As per description,
space is very limited in NYC not the perfect spot for over 40.
The biggest advantage is the location of the appartment, which is very close to subway and 5-10min drive to everything else in Manhattan! If you wanna save money plus stay in the very centre - that's the best solution for you! If you are really into comfort then I'd recommend to continue the search. For us, 4 young girls who came to explore the city - Gigi's appt. was just right!
We had an excellent 4 night stay in Gigi's apartment. The apartment itself is quite small, but perfect for the 6 people we had. Although the facilities are not top notch, they do their job. We had absolutely everything we needed and even cooked meals a couple times. The location was the best part of the (website hidden). Mark's Place was a thrill to be in; it was amazing how many amazing restaurants and stores were within walking distance. 2 lines of the subway were a convenient 3 minute walk away. Even though the area was quite busy, we were not bothered by the noise, although you can hear some street sounds in the large bedroom. Gigi was a great hostess and communicates very well. She is very warm and friendly. She checked in with us a couple times and made sure we were comfortable. Gigi, thank you so much for the wonderful stay. We highly recommend this place and would stay here again, especially since the price is extremely reasonable for Manhattan.
gigi's apartment was perfect, comfortable, pleasant to "come home to" after a whole day of walking the streets of manhattan. gigi was very accommodating, always available. indeed the front room can be noisy on the weekends, but it didn't spoil our stay at all. next time in manhattan, i will contact gigi again in the hopes the apartment is available.
We had a very nice week in this apt. Positives include: excellent location, proximity to restaurants and Metro, and everywhere you want to be, and well furnished with the essentials you may need. Negatives include: noise in the front bedroom at night – I'm a heavy sleeper so it never really bothered me, Second bedroom is really a walkway into the bathroom with a curtain to act as a divider – not great for privacy of whoever sleeps there, steep stairs so probably not the best for older adults, and general dinginess – this is not a hotel. Overall impression: great way to cost-save with two close friends in the excellent location, freeing up $1500 to spend having fun in New York rather than on an expensive pillow! Gigi, the host, was excellent communication and helpful with suggestions. New problems whatsoever
