Furry friends welcome

This holiday suite is in an Edwardian house in Caterham opposite the lovely Queens Park. Guests are accommodated in a private guest suite on the first floor with views of the park on one side and the garden on the other. It has a kingsize bed and a small single bed in one room and a sofa bed in the other. A kitchen is not provided but the second room of each suite has a few appliances for the preparation of simple meals. There is a microwave, kettle, toaster, fridge, hob, crockery, cutlery.

The space
We rent this suite on a temporary basis mainly to holiday makers in the summer months but also to guests on short term work placements or in-between properties and more recently, to increasingly popular staycation guests. We are happy to rent our suite for longer stays if required although we would only consider this as an extension to a shorter stay so guests can be sure that the accommodation suits them before committing to a longer stay. Our suite would suit up to three people (or four if two are small children) for a short stay but for stays of 4 weeks or longer, they would probably only suit one or two guests. Pets are welcome but following a few negative experiences, we do now charge pet deposits on arrival and an extra cleaning fee which is payable on the Airbnb site. Guests should note that we encourage sustainability whenever possible and our rates are calculated with this in mind. Unless it is very cold we tend not to switch the heating on during the summer months but as different areas of the house are cooler than others, it is sometimes necessary to do so even if just for a few hours. We respectfully ask our guests to switch radiators in their suites off if the heating is on and they are too hot. We would prefer guests to do that rather than open windows and waste heat. Guests should also switch off lights and appliances when not in use. Hot water is available all year round but we urge guests to use it with moderation and not to waste it. Taps should be turned off when not required. Guests will have the benefit of free high speed WiFi for the duration of their stay.
Although this is primarily designed as Holiday Accommodation, over the past year we have accommodated more longer stay guests than in previous years; these have included guests in between homes or having work done on their own homes, guests visiting friends / family or at weddings, anniversary celebrations or similar. We are very flexible and are happy to provide guests with discounted rates for Monday to Friday or Friday to Monday rentals. This has proved useful for guests working in the area who like to go back home at the weekend or weekend guests looking after elderly parents or visiting children who they weren’t able to see during the week. If what is written here doesn’t fit your criteria or price range then please contact us anyway as we are always open to suggestions

Guest access
Guests access their suites via a communal front door, large hallway and one or two flights of stairs.
At present guests are asked to limit their time in the entrance hall and stairwell and if other guests are staying in the house as well, it may be considerate to wear masks in the communal areas until guests are inside their own private suites.
Surfaces and bannisters in the communal hall and stairs area are sanitized every day. There are hand sanitizer tables in the entrance hall and on the half landing. Antibacterial cleaner and kitchen towel is also available in the hall for guest use if required.

Other things to note

Neighborhood highlights

This accommodation is located in a beautiful country area opposite a lovely park with a soft play area for children and tennis and badminton courts, cricket, grass bowls and croquet for sports enthusiasts.
Caterham is a safe area to stay in and our neighbours are friendly and welcoming.
London is about an hour away by train so guests can visit it regularly should they wish to but returning to safe, leafy Caterham is something all our guests seem to enjoy.
London is one of the world’s greatest capitals and as such it is a year round magnet for young and old alike but it can feel vast, crowded, daunting and expensive. By staying in Surrey, guests can save a considerable amount on hotel costs and still visit London daily. We would be very happy to advise guests on what there is to see and do in London at specific times of year.
This area of Surrey has much to offer in its own right; it has certainly appealed to Staycation guests during the past two years of social distancing. There are wonderful walking trails in the north downs easily accessible from this accommodation.
Within driving distance of Caterham are: Hever Castle, the ancestral home of the unfortunate Anne Boleyn, Chartwell, the family home of Winston Churchill, Leeds Castle with its magical towers, turrets and moat, the beautiful Chaldon Church and so much more.
London is one of the world Capitals of Theatre, Musicals, Opera, Dance and Concerts to suit all tastes with a vast selection of restaurants to suit all budgets. You can have steak and ale pie and a pint of beer for a few pounds in any pub in the area or enjoy a world class English, Indian, Italian, French meal at one of the thousands of restaurants in and around London - all very competitively priced. Otherwise treat yourself to something a little special at one of the many Michelin Starred restaurants all over the capital.
The weather in the South East of England can be very warm even hot in the summer months (from May to September) but the weather anywhere in England can be quite unreliable so people should always come prepared for rain.
Spring and Autumn in Surrey are lovely; this area is known for its beautiful, colourful autumn walks; the north downs are spectacular in the autumn months. The many bluebell woods in the countryside in springtime are also spectacular.
Winter can be very cold some years yet extremely mild in others. However, London's attractions are amazing whatever the weather and London in the Christmas season is truly magical.
As for Christmas shopping, London cannot be beaten.
As we are just a short drive from Brighton and other coastal towns, several of our guests have enjoyed day trips to the seaside in the summer months.
