The host made me feel very welcome with plenty of information on the area and a great description of the property was spot on. The area is absolutely beautiful!

We spent a very pleasant three days at 1129 Ski Tow Road and the bottom line is we would happily return. The house is snug and compact, but well designed and tightly constructed. It can comfortably accommodate the maximum occupancy permitted. In fact, while the house is small, as per its footprint, it is surprisingly spacious. The living room with a large hearth is a delightful area, opening on a very large and comfortable deck (with the land falling off, this is raised to the second level) with a large wood picnic table and benches. The kitchen is well equipped and functions well. The premises were delivered in impeccable condition, cleaned and ready for use. Really ideal for one seeking solitude, or a family with children or a group of friends.

I spent a month in complete bliss at the cabin. The cabin is a dream in terms of its layout and amenities. It's just like the Lincoln Log cabins I used to build as a kid--but in full scale :) The pictures really don't do it justice--it is way more spacious than you'd imagine. The beds are very comfortable and living room really cozy. Showers were just fine with plenty of hot water. The fireplace added a great dimension and real beauty. The kitchen is fully equipped with just about everything you could want for cooking, baking, etc. There's also a washer/dryer (takes a bit of time, but does the job!). The cabin is located toward the end of a dead end road, which means that (URL HIDDEN) I got the best sleep I've gotten in years! It's ideal if you want peace and quiet to get away from everything, to write, reflect, etc. The cabin is in West Windsor, and is superbly located if you like to explore. There are fantastic hiking trails within a short drive to Mt. Ascutney. You can hike to the top from the base, or can drive to the top and hike around the peak. Try both! Plan for a picnic at the Hang Glider launch platform or at the falls. The town of Windsor is a 12 minute drive away. It's really small, though it's quaint and you'll find the basics for food shopping, coffee, pizza, Chinese food, a Rite Aid, etc. There is also a great cooperative that has a brewery, distillery, restaurant, cheese and gift shop, and outdoor adventure outfitter. Best of all, you're within a 30 minute drive to Woodstock, Quechee, Hanover (Dartmouth), White River Junction, and Lebanon. Each town is cool and unique. George was extremely responsive and helpful. Check in and check out were a breeze. There were no real issues--everything in the place is modern and functional. The internet worked just fine as well. Although there is a ski resort a few minutes away, keep in mind that it is not in operation. So if skiing is your purpose, you'll need to drive to nearby mountains. That said, the fact that it wasn't operational worked out better, as the area is way less crowded. There are also many ski and sports places within a short drive. Get some of the local newspapers and magazines to find out what's going on in the area. There are zillions of things to do and see--festivals, art exhibitions, kids activities, live music, ballooning, etc. People in the area are extremely friendly, so be prepared to wave to everyone--including complete strangers driving by. Driving in the area was a pleasure--beautiful winding roads with few cars on them. I would highly recommend the cabin. You will be satisfied in every regard. I'll surely be back!

I am a New Yorker born and raised who is looking for unique experiences. You might find me taking a photography class, camping out in the Sahara, chilling out in Montauk or reading the newest book on business and leadership.

I am looking for couples or families who want an authentic Vermont experience during the summer months. Before I owned the house I never visited Vermont in the summer but it was even more lovely than the winter with a number of opportunities to experience nature and any outdoor activity you might imagine. Go and check out our log cabin on Ascutney Mountain which comfortably accommodates 6-8 people and get into a Vermont state of mind.
