Enjoy this spacious 24' yurt located between Monte Cristo and Hardware Ranch. It is tucked in a grove of trees and set up on the hillside, providing you with amazing views all the way around and stunning sunsets. We enjoy lots of wildlife in the area, especially a majestic herd of 5 bull moose who live on this hillside. This is the perfect place to get away and enjoy solitude and the great outdoors!

The space
Yurts are magical! It is a unique experience to gather and sleep in a circular space and it most definitely is the best way to make cherished memories with friends and loved ones. Nothing beats eating, talking, and playing games near a crackling fire wood stove.

This area is a recreation mecca with miles and miles of national forest trails less than a mile away! Dirt biking, riding ATVs, horse back riding, and hiking are all very popular and very accessible Spring-Fall. In the wintertime this area is one of the best areas to go snowmobiling! Trails and trails and trails. The main trail is groomed all winter long, which is popular for snowmobiling, cross country skiing, and snowshoeing. We can share some great maps and areas to go check out. There is also a steep hillside right east of the yurt for skiers/boarders, and tubing. You can't beat this location if you love the outdoors, enjoy solitude, and crave backcountry recreation!

In the wintertime the trail is groomed for 6.5 miles with the last half mile not being groomed, but often has plenty of snowmobiling tracks to follow. The trail is very mellow and has less than a 300’ elevation change from start to finish. Snowshoeing to the yurt in the winter is popular as is XC skiing/skinning. On foot you should plan to take ~3 hours if you are an average hiker. We also rent out a Thule Double Chariot to pull small kiddos behind you. We’ve had many families make the trek to the yurt and they’ve all loved it! Otherwise, taking snowmobiles to the yurt is about a 15 minute ride over to the yurt. There are rentals at the parking lot or we can provide contact info for off-site rentals that are less expensive. Don't let the distance deter you--that's what makes it a backcountry yurt! :)

Guest access
You'll have access to the entire yurt. This is a larger-than-average size yurt. It is a 24' diameter which allows for bigger groups, but it is plenty cozy for a small group--or even a romantic get away for two!

Other things to note
**Note: We have stocked bleach spray up at the yurt. It is the responsibility of each group coming and leaving to sanitize appropriate surfaces.**

Each person in your group will be required to sign/return via email a liability waiver.

There is no running water at a backcountry yurt. Plan to bring your own water.
Pack it in and pack it out!
The bathroom is an outhouse. We ask guests to not throw toilet paper down the pit toilet. There are brown paper bags to use instead.

In the summer you can drive right up to the yurt so bringing water and food coolers is pretty straight forward.

In the wintertime, the main trail to the yurt is groomed and great for hiking/snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling.

You will need to bring your own sleeping bags (especially in the wintertime).

Detailed instructions will be provided upon booking.

My first yurt experience was nine years ago and I was hooked. Mountains, wood stove with a warm fire, and surrounded by friends. What more could you want?! Eight of my girlfriends and I set out for an adventure and it is something we all still talk about and cherish to this day. In fact, it became an annual tradition for us! I met my husband and he quickly got hooked as well and joined in on our annual yurting adventures. In today's busy world of technology, it is incredibly enjoyable and rejuvenating to be far up in the mountains with those you love and care about without any distractions. Snowshoeing and backcountry skiing during the day, and relaxing, playing games, and laughing the night away. That is what yurting is all about. If you've never had a yurting adventure, you're going to wish you discovered yurts a long time ago! If you've already been yurting, then you have lots of your own stories and we don't need to convince you of anything. We look forward to your stay! J&T
