Interaction with Guests
I try to give my guests as much privacy as they wish, but I endeavour to spend some time with them, showing them the best touring routes and sites to visit. I also provide a ride to Barna village in my car if they wish, time permitting.
The peace and tranquility of the mountain we live on, the views are spectacular, over the nearby lake and bog, across Galway Bay, to the Burren, The Cliffs, and the Aran Islands. At night the stars are literally popping out of the sky and the lights of the villages across the bay are twinkling in response.
Buses to Galway and Aran Islands in Barna village as well as local jitney/taxi/mini-bus service makes getting around easy.

Fantastic location for quiet weekend away. Wifi was great. Brian was kind enough to have provisions there upon arrival. Will definitely consider again when I'm heading to Galway. Thanks Brian.
My husband and I stayed at Brian's Galway Hideaway for three nights. The moment we pulled into the driveway and saw the lovely cottage, we were immediately excited! The cottage is quaint, cozy, and just as Brian described. The views of Galway Bay from the front yard were beautiful even through the rain and hail we experienced while there.
Brian and his dog Puff welcomed us warmly when we arrived. Brian took time from his busy day to show us around and make sure we were settled. He recommended some nearby pubs in barna and gave us directions (Donnelly's Pub is a must - delicious and what I imagined an authentic Irish pub to be!).
The cottage was very clean and Brian provided us with all the amenities we could have needed, including some breakfast items. He even provided a hairdryer when I inquired. A hairdryer seems trivial but it helped me to pack light!
I highly recommend Brian's Galway hideaway cottage for anyone that is looking for a quiet, cozy, and affordable spot just outside of Galway City and a short drive to the Cliffs of Moher and The Burren. We hope to stay there again on our next trip to Ireland!
Thank you Brian! Cheers!
Brian is a very charming host and we had a very nice stay. The little house is perfect to relax and enjoy a nice time away from the city noises.
We had a wonderful stay at Brian's cottage. A perfect place to stay for your trips in Connemara. Brian was very helpful and welcoming, giving us tips about where to eat, drink and places to visit. The cottage is spacious, clean and well-appointed. I recommand it twice !
Had a lovely stay at the cottage. Brian was an excellent host with great conversation and recommendations for restaurants and other outings. Would highly recommend. Enjoyed meeting the dog, Puff.
Brian was a fantastic host!! So incredibly welcoming. He left us eggs, milk and bread; gave us recommendations of places to go; even offered to drive us into Galway downtown. The cottage was absolutely lovely. Highly recommend.
The cottage was absolutely brilliant! It was cozy and perfect for our trip to Galway. Brian was the most gracious host giving us a lift into the city and providing the best places to visit and eat. He was so flexible and accommodating. The fridge was full and the cottage offered all amenities. The scenery is beautiful as well. We would love to come back! Thank you Brian for a truly memorable experience!
Living in the west of Ireland, blessed by good health, fair weather, gorgeous views of Galway Bay the Burren and the Aran Islands on the horizon, I am a lucky so and so. Glad to share the wonderful Connemara scenery with visitors to my house.
