We really had a great stay at Brian's, he was the perfect host and I can only recommend staying here. Having a car is recommendable but Brian also gave us a lift into town and the number of his local taxi driver.
Brian also prepared basics like bread, tea, milk and pasta and many more for us to use and gave us great tips on what to do when and where to go. The house is lovely and there is more than enough space for 2-4 people, the area is amazing and on a good day you have a great view of Galway Bay and even see the Black Head and the Cliffs of Moher.
If you want to have a great and quiet stay in the counrtyside of beautiful Ireland then this really is the place for you. Thanks so much for having us Brian!
This accommodation comes very highly recommended. It is clean and modern, everything in perfect working order. But what sets this place apart from others is that Brian is a fantastic host, he welcomed me and my friends with such warmth, giving us everything that we needed to enjoy our stay in Galway. He drove us into town so we could enjoy a night out, pointing out the good pubs to go to and giving us a history of the town. I'm just sorry we couldn't stay longer. This is a definite must stay!
I can only say positive things about my experience. Brian was incredibly helpful and kind and I would say went above and beyond what is expected of a host. The cottage is even better in person and had everything my partner and I needed and more. My only regret is not staying longer. I will definitely stay here again if in Ireland and will recommend this place to everyone. I think a longer stay is best so that you have time to visit and see everything and I think renting a car is a good idea and one I will keep in mind for next time. But no complaints about the place or the host!
Brian was a wonderful host! He was very welcoming and has a wealth of knowledge about the area which he is happy to share. The cottage was beautiful! and well appointed. It is very spacious (hard to tell that in the pictures), and spotless. His sweet pup 'Puff' kept watch over us which was an added bonus!
Brian was super welcoming and made us feel right at home, he even took us out for the evening and we had a blast! Everything was as described and it was a great location for hitting Galway and other points west. Price wise was spot on as well. Would go back!
Una casa de invitados acogedora, al lado de la casa del anfitrión. Una cocina y salón amplios, y unos dormitorios suficientemente amplios.
La casa está a unos 10 km de Galway, en mitad del campo. ¡Un sitio muy bonito!
Brian is the über Airbnb host. Attentive but never overbearing, his extensive knowledge of Galway and Ireland means he has plenty of answers to questions and suggestions for places to visit, things to see, and routes to take. He graciously picked me up from the bus station on my arrival, and was happy to offer rides into Galway or with him on his regular trips to the surrounding area. The cottage had everything I needed for my stay, and the supermarket in Barna offers easy access to supplies and conveniences. Even if you never leave the front yard, you'll still get quite the view.
The cottage would serve as a great basecamp for touring Connemara, although having a car would maximize your effectiveness there. Also plenty to see and do in Galway, and my day trips to the Aran Islands and the Cliffs of Moher are particularly memorable and recommendable.
Note that the map on the listing page is not strictly accurate. Fellow car-less travelers should note there's an additional couple miles from the location shown (and public transit) to Brian's cottage. Wasn't an issue for me, as I was looking for walking anyway, and Brian, per above, was always up for sharing a ride into town.
In any case, my thanks to Brian, his family, and his dog, Puff (as in the Magic Dragon) for their hospitality and kindness during my stay.
Very kind, Chris, and I appreciate the kudos. Yes, the map marker is not correct, but after three years of trying to fix it, I gave up! Possibly the only Airbnb defect! That said, it all adds to the air of mystery. I'm glad you enjoyed your stay in the wild west...there is so much more to see and do here, I fully expect you back in time. Mind yourself! B
Living in the west of Ireland, blessed by good health, fair weather, gorgeous views of Galway Bay the Burren and the Aran Islands on the horizon, I am a lucky so and so. Glad to share the wonderful Connemara scenery with visitors to my house.
