We had a wonderful experience at Cathy's and would highly recommend her place to the persons who are looking for complete relaxation! Our first Airbnb experience couldn't have been better.
Our host, Cathy, made the stay terrific. From her explicit directions and navigational landmarks getting us from US to her place, to the list of activities afforded us through her fabulous network of friends who had made this region their homes. Through this network, we went horseback riding on the beach, had massages, found the best fish tacos and fresh fish, and went whale watching! Because of Cathy, we felt at home in a faraway, almost magical place.
We stayed on at Cathy's place for two weeks, in the Asian Suite, and actually looked into staying on another week, however, the cost of changing our flight was prohibitive.
We loved our space, whether it was sunbathing on the roof top or watching the sunset from our private patio, back up to the deck to grill fresh fish, then sleeping to the lullaby of the waves all night long -- it was beyond belief relaxing!
Each morning we ventured off to walk the beach, which was for the most part by ourselves. The only time there were more than 5 people on the beach was the weekend, which then brought that number up to about 25 people, we really had the place to ourselves most of the time.
Coming from the Adirondacks in Upstate NY in the month of February was a great relief from the cold. Every day, warm and sunny made this the most amazing trip.
We highly recommend checking out Cathy's place! (just not when we want to go!)
This was a very relaxing vacation with beautiful sunsets and whale watching from the rooftop deck. Cathy will make you feel welcome from the minute you arrive. A big bonus is that she lives on site to help with every detail. It is a short drive to everything from great winery's to Ensenada where there is great dining and shopping. The views of the drive to Ensenada were breath taking. I would highly recommend dinning at Sanos steak house or la playa morrow. Also monte xanic is one of the best wines I have tasted. Very comfortable bed and great kitchen if you like to cook ( Asian Suite ). We really enjoyed buying fresh seafood and grilling on the rooftop. There are 4 great restaurants and bars no more than 200 yards away that you can walk too with ocean from dining. If you are looking for Mexican ambience then this is a great place that is on the higher end offering very comfortable and clean accommodations at a great price and central location. Only about 1 hour from San Diego. Overall it was a great 6 week vacation. We will be back next year.
Cathy was extremely welcoming and accommodating. She was in contact with me as soon as I booked the place, and helped make the trip as pleasant and convenient as possible.
The place itself was wonderful, right on the Pacific with several balconies overlooking the beach. It was great to sleep at night with the sound of the surf crashing outside the window.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.
My boyfriend and I wanted to do something special for our anniversary, and as broke grad students, were looking for a getaway that wouldn't break the bank. We decided to check out Baja, and were so excited when we found Cathy's listing on Airbnb!
Her pictures aren't lying--it's just as beautiful as it looks! We spent our weekend wandering along the beach (full of tide pools with sea anemones and starfish) and soaking in brilliant sunsets on the patio with glasses of wine. We also went into Ensenada for lunch one day for amazing street food of fish tacos and ceviche!
The Asian suite itself is also gorgeous, appointed with lovely wood furniture and beautiful art. You have a balcony that looks out over the ocean, and you fall asleep and wake up to the soothing sound of the waves every night. There's also a fully appointed kitchen so you can make your own meals as well.
This was our first time in Mexico, so I was a little nervous, but Cathy made sure we were prepared for everything, from the border crossings to Mexican car insurance. It was extremely easy!
Cathy herself was also wonderful. When we arrived, she had decorated the suite with roses and made fresh cookies and a cheese platter and a card for our anniversary. She's extremely sweet, and if you like animals, she rescues dogs and you can play with them if you want a cuteness fix (I certainly did!).
The little town of La Mision has a few other restaurants, too, and we particularly enjoyed the live music at Hotel La Mision one night, with a guitarist who played absolutely beautifully. The whole trip was like a dream!
I have nothing but good things to say about our stay. Cathy is wonderful, the location is incredible, and we left planning our next trip to Cathy's. She is amazing with details, and keeps everything running smoothly. There are only good surprises when you show up!!
Cathy was a wonderful host! On arrival we got lost, she directed us in by phone and was waiting to greet us in the driveway. Cathy escorted us to our suite and made sure we knew where all the amenities (stores, music, restaurants) were and continued to check in occasionally to make sure we were comfy throughout our stay. Our ocean front suite was just the right size for us and fully functional. Located right off the main toll road (this is a good thing!) and steps away from restaurants, Cathy's environment is casual and perfectly imperfect. We felt right at home and enjoyed every minute of our visit to Mexico! Thank you, Cathy, for sharing your beach with us. We look forward to seeing you again soon! Anne and Steve

It's one of my greatest pleasures to welcome guests to Casa de los Arcoiris! This area of Northern Baja is so lovely and so calming and relaxing that, when I first visited, I fell in love with it - and I'd love for you to experience the joy of being here, too. When a friend told me about this home, I flew down from the San Francisco area - saw the property on Saturday, and bought it on Sunday! Then I spent over 5 years in renovation and remodeling to turn it into a first class inn where I would be happy to stay! It took a lot of work and a lot of time, but it was so much fun and so rewarding to see it all come together - and now to hear people tell me how much they enjoy staying here is a real pleasure. I'm proud to be told that this is one of the best appointed, cleanest, and friendliest places to stay. I truly believe each guest should have the best, most enjoyable and relaxing get-away - and I promise to do everything I can to make your stay a wonderful, fun-filled, rewarding experience.
