This is a family home with two adults, an 11 year old boy, and small CUTE dog. (The 11 yr old is pretty cute, too!) We try to be quiet, friendly, and accommodating. There are times you won't even know we're here, or we actually won't be here- we may be out of town. There may be a rare weekend morning when our son has a sleepover and you
will hear him and his friend playing video games. We supply a white noise machine and earplugs. In general, we're pretty quiet, though. We enjoy sharing our home and meeting new people who have found their way to Aspen. We've had a great time hosting and look forward to meeting you!
-You have a microwave, mini-refrigerator, keurig coffee maker and coffee, plates, bowls, cups & utensils right in your room.

-Combination lock, so no need to worry about keys.
-HE Washer and Dryer, detergent and fabric softener. The laundry area is upstairs, so please arrange a convenient time to use it.

We've had guests who've we never seen and others who've gone skiing with our family. We’ve had guest who've we've made breakfast or dinner for and have hung out with us. We’ve had guests who we say a quick hello to and those who we give a lot of local information to, it just depends on what level of interaction your looking for and what we happen to be doing that day or week. If we're home when you arrive, we will greet you and show you around, but we give you enough information before and when you book so you know exactly what to expect when you arrive. We will give you the amount of privacy you desire. Feel free to come upstairs to ask a question, just announce yourself first, as this is our living area.
We live in the best family neighborhood in the world. In the winter, it is so quiet you can't believe it.
In the summer you will hear children laughing and playing until dark. The kids are all getting older, so they’re not as playful as they used to be, but I’m sure you’ll still hear them. Our son, at 11, is one of the youngest. The dogs have all grown up together, too, so you'll hear them in the morning as they all go out do do their business. You’ll definitely hear a dog bark now and then, but it’s not a problem.
There are children and dogs here, but less so in the winter, as they are all in school and/or indoors. In the summer you will definitely hear the playing and laughter of children, but as they get older not so much. All of the kids here have grown up together, and our son, at 11 yrs old, is one of the youngest. The dogs have all grown up together, too, so you'll hear them in the morning as they all go out do do their business.
Aspen has a very convenient, free public transit system. We are a five-ten minute walk to the nearest bus stop. At night, make sure you take one of the headlamps that we provide, as there aren’t street lamps in our neighborhood. It is a nice downhill walk to the bus, meaning it’s uphill coming home. Make sure you ask us to show you the shortcut through our side yard, it saves a lot of time! If you’re taking the bus, there is usually a direct path through the snow rather than following the road. This makes for a short walk.
We are long time locals with a wealth of information about our area- we can direct you to the best restaurants, local hideouts, secret ski runs, etc-
We may be in and out of our 11 yr old sons room which is next to your room, but in general, he sleeps upstairs when we have guests.
The Brokamps were as cordial as can be. After my flight delay and late evening arrival, Jim met me at the front door and helped with my luggage. My stay was quiet and comfortable. Have already booked another visit!
I had a great stay!
Jim and Brenda are ideal hosts and certainly make you feel at home. I can't fault this place - its close to all ski mountains, town and has an amazingly cozy feel.
A great place to stay if you're visiting Aspen!
I would certainly recommend Jim and Brenda.
Beautiful accommodations and gracious hosts - we'd go back again tomorrow if we could! Jim and his son were kind enough to go the extra mile and take a few "get acquainted with the mountain" runs with my son and I. Thanks for a great stay.
My husband and I planned a last minute trip to Aspen and were lucky enough to find Jim and Brenda's home. With Aspen being so expensive we were not sure we would be able to find a place to stay within our budget. We were so pleased to find these accommodations to be very affordable and absolutely perfect for our stay. Prior to arrival we were sent detailed instructions on how to access the house and information about our accommodations. The pictures posted were true to the space and the bed is every bit as comfortable as described. To save $$ we stopped at a city market and bought food for breakfast and lunches - they have a nice mini fridge microwave and krueig which provided a way to make easy meals. We met Brenda on our first evening and she was extremely friendly and helpful. One tip.. keep the heat down low as the room gets nice and toasty. Brenda had warned us about this, but being from California and not used to the cold temps we turned the heat up higher than suggested - we woke up in the middle of the night more toasty than planned! There is also a nice space heater in the room to control temps. Staying in someone's home you worry about hearing the owners or intruding on their space but we only heard them in the morning (we were up getting ready to ski so it didn't bother us) and because the room is on the first level we came and went feeling like we were in our own separate house. Brenda and Jim are both extremely friendly and gave us great information about Aspen and the ski resorts. They were prompt to respond to any need we had and are overall fantastic hosts! Since we were on the slopes and out in town the three days we were there, it was the perfect affordable nice place to stay -- leaving us the ability to spend our $$ on great food and skiing. :). Highly recommend Brenda and Jim as a place to stay in Aspen!!
Had to cancel due to the winter storms but Brenda and Jim were both very considerate and provided a generous refund despite the strict cancelation rules. They are both very cool people and I wish I could have stayed. Thanks again!
Jim and Brenda were the most amazing hosts! These wonderful people allowed us to send a huge snowboard bag from Australia to their house to store for us while we travelled around the US - now that is unheard of and it helped us out so much. They were so helpful and always giving us tips on where to snowboard and where to go eat. The house is beautiful and your room is great. The bed is huge and comfy and the huge tv was an added bonus. It's everything you would want. Brenda allowing us to use the washer and dryer was amazing!! Thank you Jim and Brenda you made our Aspen trip truly something great!
This was my first time using airbnb as a guest, as I've only been a host. The Brokamps were a wonderful first experience. I was in Aspen for 5 nights for my best friends wedding. While my friends paid $900 a (email hidden) Regis and other hotels, that same amount cover my entire 5 day stay and my lift tickets! The room was cozy and filled with DVDs and convenient highlands. I would definitely consider coming back and staying with the Brokamps again!
We are from Brazil and traveled to Aspen just me and my husband. That was the first time we rented a room in a house, but that experience was very pleasant. James and Brenda were very nice. James took us to the Buttermilk Mountain and said many tips because we had never practiced snowboard and he still lent me his goggles because we didn't have them. The room is so comfortable, clean and has wifi. The bathroom is near the room but only us used it. I will indicate them for everyone that intends to go to Aspen. Thanks James, Brenda, their son and their dog for receiving us with arms open
Jim & Brenda were excellent hosts. They are so friendly and helpful and hospitable - a lovely family. Communication was easy and they were fabulous in helping me to get to my ski lessons on time! The room is lovely and comfortable, the bed is great. Their home is n a quiet cul de sac and family/local area. There is good internet and cable TV. Thanks to them for a really wonderful stay in Aspen Highlands! I hope that I have the good fortune to be able to come back and visit some time soon.
Easy hosts, location is supported by a unique arrangement with Aspen taxi company's so being just out of town is of no issue or extra cost at all. Affordable Aspen vacation with these hosts.
