Our 10 sided 'round houses' are cozily nestled together for either a romantic retreat for a couple or a family gathering (BUT far enough apart for a little privacy)!
All of them have azure blue water views and directly located on a white sandy beach, where you can walk directly into the water and start your day or snorkeling or kayaking! The houses are built with beautiful local lumber that is built to last and has a very cozy, warm, wood feeling. There are 3 cabinas which accomodate 4 persons each. There also is a three story dock, and a bodega on the water. The parking is covered parking for a skiff from a (email hidden)ere are two spaces covered and up to 5 more. You can dock at deep water dockage or moor sailboat in protected sunni's cove and coral reefs surround the deep water access. Scuba diving is allowed across the bay at captain morgans, and the dive boat will come directly across the water to pick you up for your scuba diving day!
Located directly across the bay from our beach are a a handful of stores for grocery shopping and 4 restaurants that serve local fare. Your shopping experience is located less than 1 minute by skiff or 15 minutes by kayak! There are no cars, busses, or roads so the only way to get around is by boat! Absolutely NO car traffic, once you get to sunni's cove, you will not want to leave!
One of the very unique benefits of being RIGHT here and not like ANY other place is that there is a WHITE sandy beach and NOT coral where you can walk right off the beach and snorkel to the reefs, or just stare into the mangroves where you find seahorses, tiny barracudas, and all sorts of tiny infant (email hidden) more than steps away! Then you can order a panga from the other side to come and pick you up for a nice dinner at one of the cay restaurants, and then kick up your heels at dial willy's disco! Or a short kayak paddle away you can hop off the kayak and snorkel to your hearts content, or make your way over to water cay, another uninhabited island ALL TO yourself...bring a picnic lunch or watch the sunset with a nice bottle of wine, with no one there to bother you...heck bring a tent and blanket and pillows or a hammock to stretch in between two palm trees and camp out there or hang a hammock for the gilligans island experience, and if it is just too serene you could paddle back to your little villa in sunnis cove for a hot shower instead of 'roughing it. Bring the traditional hot dogs and some s'mores and you can truly say i've been on a deserted island 'roughing it' but have the amenities moments away!
Great place for a vacation, especially if Anke is managing the bungalows! She essentially made this the wonderful experience that it was. Anke helped us communicate with dive shops and kept checking in to make sure we were okay. She let us use her internet and is just an all-around wonderful person to know and chat with. She also provided us with a cell phone to use while staying at the bungalows which was very nice as we needed to contact places to set up our activities!
We were lucky to have the entire area to ourselves which was wonderful. The bungalows are nice enough (you can't really come across "luxury" on this island) with a great beach right there and an amazing dock to hang out on. There are kayaks to use so you can kayak across to the Cays and grab food or kayak to Water cay which is a beautiful island as well.
The location is great, as it's so nice to get away from the town and just have a quiet area with a beautiful ocean! You can even snorkel right around the area.
Bring bug spray and grocery shop a bit before you get there! Also, a water taxi from Utila town to the Bungalows is $35 USD each way.
This was an extremely disappointing place to lodge, despite the kindness and helpfulness of the onsite manager, Bogdan. For one, the pictures on the site are deeply misleading in terms of the place's appearance. The inside is quite run down, with holes in the plaster in many places, very worn out floors, a heating plate that barely boiled water after 15 minutes, holes in the screen, and a non-functional fridge that serves as a kind of table that is completely moldy inside! Next, we arrived and there was no water to drink, and only half a roll of toilet paper. If it was made clear on the site that you had to supply all your water and TP, that would be one thing, but.. Lastly, there is nowhere to eat in the place (2 chairs inside, no table), and only 3 dishes. If the per night cost was say $40, this might be worth it, but for $80, truly outrageous. Despite the great time we had in Utilla and the Cays, we would never come back to these cabins. See our fuller review in Trip Advisor along with photos that really show what the place is like.
A really comfortable bungalow in a beautiful location. The owners have kayaks to borrow which are perfect for exploring the nearby cays. Be sure to make arrangements to stop off in Utila town to buy groceries before you take a boat out here so that you don't need to waste time or money running back and forth to the town and can enjoy the relaxing atmosphere. Highly recommended for people seeking a quiet place on the beach away from the noise and crowds!
This place can't possibly be more relaxing! We woke up to the sea at our feet... had coffee on the beach then snorkeled all morning! We spent our afternoons either diving with the local dive shop (they picked us up right at the dock with a friendly 'Good Morning Divers! Are you awake!?") and then kayaked over to the cays for dinner! COULD NOT ASK FOR A MORE RELAXING VACATION! Also, the resident puppy is pretty much the GREATEST dog alive! HIGHLY recommended!
i started my developing of a eco tourism resort back in 1985 in costa rica..my daughter was born so the next time i focused my attention of building it again, the area had turned into into a 'cancun' type circus so i gave that up and starting back at the drawing board, and took a sailing trip down to the bay islands in honduras via panama looking for my 'paradise'... i found it on a secluded beach in utila, accessible ONLY by boat, where the jungle came up to the waters edge and over 8 years have hacked away at this jungle with a machete and over time and when money allowed have built 4 little round 'birdhouses which were meant for my family to reside in.
i am not here all of the time, so when i am here, i love to show my guests the pure paradise i have found and developed over the years.

I have been very blessed and fortunate with GOD"S direction in my life...without HIM, and the lessons that he constantly teaches me, i hopefully can help others understand how important is it to allow HIM into our hearts, minds, and soul!
