- UK Mobile phone and SIM Card for cheaper calls during your stay (Can be topped up using the card provided at many shops)
- Two Oyster Cards for cheap London travel (You can easily top them up in newsagents or tube stations)
- Clean towels for each guest
- WiFi (On up to 60Mbps broadband)
- We can do a second bed or a cot for children if necessary.
Brixton is the coolest place in London right now and this flat is walking distance from the main attractions and the station, which will have you in Central London in less than 20 mins. We can lend you Oyster cards so that it simpler and cheaper to get around London.
The space is a spacious loft bedroom in a recently renovated Victorian terrace in a leafy part of Brixton. There's three skylights with blackout blinds, from which you can (just) see the iconic chimneys Battersea Power Station. We can add an extra single bed if you have a child with you and we're happy to have cots up there if you have a little one (or we have a travel cot of our own you can use).
The room has a bathroom next door with a showerbath and underfloor heating that is shared with Jack, a wonderful friend who lives with us. We will supply you with bath towels.
There is an open plan kitchen and lounge with four gas hobs, two electric ovens and a grill. There is also a dishwasher, a large fridge freezer and a washer/dryer. For breakfast we can arrange pastries and pain au chocolat as well as our selection of cereals, yoghurts and fruits. You can make toast in our lovely bright red toaster and there are a selection of spreads. There is a red kettle, with a large selection of teas. And we also have a stove-top espresso maker and a cafetiere for coffee lovers.
In the lounge there is a 55 inch 3D TV with internet and Blu-Ray player. We have wi-fi throughout the house, as well as ethernet connection at the desk in the loft bedroom. There's a selection of board games including Farming and Settlers of Catan. We have a communal computer in the lounge as well as a Wii with Rock Band.
We have a paved garden with sun loungers if the weather is nice.
Nearby there is the lovely Brockwell Park and Brixton now boasts a huge selection of awesome cafe's and restaurants to suit every taste. Let us know what food you like and we'll point you in the right direction. For music lovers there's great gigs at the Brixton Academy, The Electric, Jamm, Hootenannys and DogStar. The Ritzy is a Brixton institution showing a great selection of films both mainstream and arthouse (We got engaged there!).
Brixton Tube (Underground) Station, which is on the Victoria Line, is either a 3 minute bus journey or 10 minute walk from the flat. From there it is 10 minutes to Oxford Circus and central London. You can get from Heathrow in under 1 hour on the Tube by taking the Piccadilly Line and changing at Green Park. From Gatwick you can take the Gatwick Express or a normal train (Slightly cheaper, a couple more stops) to Victoria Station and then it is about 6 minutes to Brixton on the Tube.
I think the best indication of what we really thought about our stay at Natasha and Ed's house is to say that we would like to come back again! The room was like described, and Natasha and Ed were wonderful: very friendly and helpful. The area of Brixton is lovely: full of young people and great, inexpensive little restaurant (at Brixton Village). Overall: 10/10
I'm pretty much just repeating what everyone else has already said, but Ed and Natasha are wonderful hosts and you'd be making a serious mistake to pass on their place. The location and neighbourhood is great - Brixton is very accessible to and from every part of the city, but far away enough to give you some space to breath and explore (Brixton station is about a 10 minute walk away or a two minute bus ride from the stop right around the corner). The house itself is everything you need - a clean, well lit and open space with all the amenities you could wish for (the bathroom is huge and in the bedroom you'll find many thoughtful bonuses like Oyster cards, a mobile, travel guides, towels, etc for you to use.) We did not spend much time in the kitchen but there is a nice assortment of teas / spreads / cereal available for you. As for the hosts themselves, Natasha and Ed were mindful of our personal space but were also open to conversation and awesome to talk to - it was an absolute pleasure to get to know them and hear a few of their many travel stories. We are very glad to have stayed with you two - thanks for a wonderful experience!
Ed and Natasha were friendly and very responsive with the email communication. The house and the room were exactly as advertised. Clean and nice neighbourhood (brixton). Breakfast was excelent. We ll definitely come back here again. Plus, she speaks spanish
Ed and Natasha's place is the perfect place to stay. They are very kind hosts and the house is lovely, as advertised. The breakfast provided was always set out nicely and a great way to kick start the day before seeing all the sights of London. The house is in a lovely quiet street but very accessible with public transport and is a quick journey to the centre of London.
Our stay with Ed and Natasha was part of a great London experience!
They are wonderful hosts and made us feel at home away from home! Their place is located in the historic part of Brixton with lots of lovely old Victorian-style houses and very well and conveniently connected to other parts of London: e.g. Oxford Circus and Victoria Station are just 20 to 30 minutes away! The room is bright, cozy and comfortable and the breakfast they provided every morning, with croissants, juice, coffee & tea as well as an assortment of all sorts of spreads (especially the yummy self-made raspberry jam), the perfect way to start the day! We definitely recommend this place and would love to stay there again the next time we visit London!
My cousin and I really enjoyed our stay at Ed and Natasha's place! They are extremely nice and helpful! The room was very nice and clean and the bed and pillows are very comfortable. They provided us with towels and breakfast ( their home made jelly is really good) and the oyster cards and cellphone they let us use during our stay really came in handy! Another plus to staying at their place is their location, Brixton station is about a 10 minute walk away or you can take any of the frequent buses that pass by. There are also a few places to eat nearby and a grocery store. We can't thank them enough for all their help and great hospitality, we definitely recommend staying with them! :)
Ed and Natasha's room is AMAZING. It is such a good deal for the location, amenities, and the hospitality. I only met Natasha briefly (Ed was out of town) but she was very sweet. The neighborhood is a great mix of traditional ethnic eateries and markets mixed with hot clubs and cute cafes. The room (and the rest of the house) was spotless. A little English breakky was waiting for us every morning and the oyster cards and UK cell phone they provided were extremely helpful. The room was perfect for our purposes. There was even a little family of foxes who were our spirit animals and guided us home each night. Would definitely stay again!
Thanks Ed and Natasha for a very enjoyable and relaxed stay .. The room was very comfortable and it was great to chat and catch up on the neighbourhood that I know so well. I hope to come back and stay longer next time! Best wishes, Gordon
Ed&Natasha are fantastic host. We felt very comfortable in their home.
They prepared very fresh towels and sheets and very thoughtful stuffs as well.
Room was very cosy, and bright enough.(always sunny day when we were there :D) Bathroom was large and clean too.
Breakfast was served every morning in the kitchen. There were fresh coffee and black tea(it was really great!!), yogurt, toast and many jams(including homemade jam :D), milk and juice........!!
We could go to everywhere in London by bus, tube from Brixton about 30 minutes.
As the last comment, Ed & Natasha are handsome and pretty, very good-looking couple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Congratulations for your upcoming wedding!!! ^3^
Ed and Natasha were wonderful hosts! They are so friendly and accommodating. Our room was perfect and had a fun view with a nice breeze when you opened the windows. The location was great- up and coming area- with easy access to everything you could possibly want to see in the center of the city. The tube is very accessible and easy to use. Ed and Natasha left out breakfast for us every morning, which was a wonderful and a blessing when trying to save money. We really enjoyed our experience and hope to stay there again when we return to London!
