Welcome! Bienvenue! iBienvenidos!
Our home is a 1909 Anglo-Territorial style historic house, on a quiet side street in downtown Tucson's Armory Park Historic District.
The large bedroom has a double bed and a single bed. Both beds have good reading lights and down duvets.
Double-glazed windows make for super quiet sleeping and lots of natural light during the day.
The adjacent private bathroom has a clawfoot tub/shower and soft natural light.
There is a closet and two chests of drawers, and a full length mirror.
We have wireless internet as well as a manual typewriter.
We do not provide breakfast but there is an electric kettle and fixings for a cup of tea or coffee in the room, and little snacky things to get you started.
We keep a little library in the room of our favorite books on local culture and geography, desert plants and animals, hiking guides and history.
It's so peaceful and quiet here. There's a great front porch for morning coffee, and a wonderful backyard with a fireplace.
Coming to Tucson this summer? Our house is air conditioned!
We are as eco-friendly as possible. Our sheets and towels are dried on the clothesline in the desert sun, and the shower and bath water irrigates the garden.
We have a gentle, well behaved, non-allergenic dog.
We welcome your well behaved dog. Please clear it with us before you make a reservation if you want to bring a pet.
We LOVE Downtown Tucson and we love to share it with visitors.
We've been in this neighborhood in Tucson for 27 years and can advise our guests on lots of local favorite places as well as little known events.
We are a few blocks from Downtown Tucson's restaurants, yoga studios, farmers market, arts and culture; the Amtrak train station; Tucson's new Modern Streetcar, North Fourth Avenue shopping and restaurants; the University of Arizona, and the center of the Gem and Mineral Shows.
We have several bicycles for our guests to use.
Biking is a dreamy way to get around the Downtown and University neighborhoods!
If you are driving, we're 5 minutes from I-10 and an easy drive to Tucson Airport, the Desert Museum and San Xavier Mission.
Normally guests don't use our kitchen, but we can sometimes arrange it in advance depending on circumstances. The backyard fireplace is a great place to spend the evening, and the front porch is nice for morning coffee.
Interaction with Guests
We play this by ear, and do our best to use our intuition about how much contact our guests want to have. We enjoy getting to know our our guests, but if you want solitude we are very respectful of that as well.
We love our friendly neighborhood! The Armory Park neighborhood was Tucson's first National Register Historic District. We love walking the streets and enjoying the unique detail of each house. We love being just a 5 minute walk to downtown Tucson's vibrant restaurant and culture scene. Although we are close to a lot of great city life, the street we are on is super quiet. We have the best of both worlds.
You could easily spend a week with us and never need a car. We are an easy walk from the Amtrak and Greyhound stations. We're just 4 blocks from Tucson's brand new modern streetcar and city bus stops are a block away.
We offer bicycles for our guests to use. We are about 5 minutes walk to Downtown and 10 minutes walk to N 4th Avenue.
Other Things to Note
The edge of the antique clawfoot tub is 23 inches (59cm) high. If you have limited mobility or balance, this might not be the best choice for you.
No smoking indoors. Quiet after 10 PM please.
The books in the room are ours for you to enjoy during your visit, not to be taken out of the house.
Please do not bring unauthorized overnight guests (to maintain safety of the house).
No candles in the room.
We try to conserve energy, so please turn off all lights and fans before you leave the room or bathroom.
The room is served only when you check in, during your stay we do not clean. Let us know if you want fresh sheets or towels.
Bring your own bike helmet, or use one of our secondhand ones.
The private bathroom is adjacent. The window trellis is covered in jasmine, which scents the warm breeze coming in.
