The Space

* Free WiFi throughout apt
* 3nd floor walk up (really 2.5)
* Renovated pre-war apt in pre-war building (i.e. Apt is nicer than building).
* Apt has no problem with bugs/rodents.
* Pet/smoke free
* Repainted the walls, installed a ceiling fan, and
put a lot of work into it to get it where it is
* I have lived in the area for over 6 years and avail for recommendations on restaurants/bars/clubs/Cool neighborhoods, things to do etc. I also lived overseas a bunch and understand how it is to be welcomed to a new city/country. Once you make a booking i send along more info about my favorite bars, restaurants, etc. And if you like the looks of my apt, you'll love my recommendations!

Queen size bed, Fresh Ralph Lauren linens for each guest upon arrival,
A/C, empty cabinet & clothes rack for guests to place clothes

New sofa from ABC, 42"Plasma with Roku, DVD player, Bose speakers, WiFi throughout, Ceiling fan

Really not much to work with for cooking large meals at home b/c size, but I installed shelves and all the basics are there, (And your in the middle of some of the best eating in NY)

Small tub, tight space, but again, its clean and functional, plus i painted the ceiling green:)

•Towels: 2 fresh Ralph Lauren body towels and hand towels are provided
•Bath: Set of Kiehls bath shampoo, conditioner, and wash is provided
•Hairdryer & handheld clothing steamer provided

cool/quiet (There was one neighbor who smelled, and some guests have mentioned him in reviews, but he has since moved out and the smell is gone!!!!!)

Middle of everything East Village, 1 block from Thompson sq park, next door to Mogador cafe, 4 blocks to 6 train/Astor place. Will provide you with list of favorite restaurants in east village, map of area, and local magazines.

Apt is in the back so noise is not really a problem, although Cafe Yaffa is the neighbor and they have people dining till 11 outside, but again, its just background small chatter even when windows are open. In the winter the cafe closes the outside.

Check in/out time is flexible upon request.

I'll leave clean sheets, towels, etc leave it as clean as I'd like to have if i were visiting. Also i've lived in the area for over 5 years so can give great recommendations on: Neighborhood walks, shopping, restaurants, museums, gallery walks, must see/do NYC locations, nightlife, clubs, bars, etc..

  • Carlos was a perfect host and his flat was great - exactly what we needed for our stay. We were particularly impressed with the cleanliness of the apartment, and the quality of the linens and towels left out for us. I would definitely recommend Carlos' place to others.

  • We stayed for a month in Carlos' tidy and perfectly formed apartment. The location in the middle of the East Village cannot be beaten for a taste of real NYC culture. It's position is ideal for anyone looking for a place to retreat to after a day of exploring the city, or who would like to live like a local in the East Village. The surrounding streets are packed with the best in bars, restaurants and ice cream parlours Manhattan has to offer. The apartment is ideally placed to catch buses up, down and cross town, and a 10 minute walk from the 6 train at Astor Place, and the N and R trains at 8th/NYU.

    Although our schedules never aligned and we didn't get to meet with Carlos he was always available to answer our queries and was a gracious host.

  • Carlos was a great Host, the communication at our stay was excellent. When we had a question, Carlos answered directly and he had always the best recommendations. (I love the black Iron Burger Bar).
    The flat was tidy and clean. Everything was like in the description. The place was perfect for a city trip, in the street there are a plenty of restaurants and bars. At the night and morning is was quite, we had a well sleep and we could hear the birds singing.

    Thank you

    Although we never met Carlos and any questions were answered extremely quickly! We couldn't ask for a better host!

  • Carlos is a great host! Although we couldn't meet we didn't have problems with the keys or any other thing. Besides that, he sent us a few sms to know if we were ok or if we had any questions about the apartment! Also he provided a lot of information of the neighbourhood, restaurants around the block etc... We Love the East Village!
    The apartment is much better that the building in where it is located. It's really well designed and comfortable. The weather in NYC was a bit cold but the heating system works really well. To sum up, the apartment has everything you should need!
    We highly recommend Carlos apartment! No doubts in coming back anytime!

  • What can I say? Except it's the perfect place with the perfect host. Amazing space in a great location - at the cool end of St.Mark's where the front cover of Physical Graffiti greets you as you walk out the front door. Carlos couldn't be more accommodating, providing top local tips like advising me to try Mogador restaurant next door. The best bit of advice I may ever have received in NYC! Even when I misplaced my keys he was on hand to sort me out. Those 5 stars aren't enough.
