Interaction with Guests
I'm a very friendly and welcoming and so is the cat! If I have time for long conversations, then that tends to happen organically!
I love the awe inspiring views over the English Channel from St Boniface Down - a great place for blowing away the cobwebs and feeling on top of the world. I love that their are amazing walks just minutes from my home. I love the quirky, boho spirit of Ventnor
There are plenty of buses serving the entire island, or you can walk, cycle or come by car.
Other Things to Note
My passion for organic food and eco living makes my home the perfect gem for a restorative short break.
It's very simple. I Iove my home, and I hope you will love it too. I like good manners, courtesy and people who are straightforward and lovely! My home house has lots of character, it isn't a 21st Century box. As I have waxed, wooden floors, please bring indoor shoes.
You are very welcome to borrow one of the books lying around in the sitting room or study, please put it back when you have finished with it.
Going to Alison Jane's wonderful quirky house was like going to a friend's place. It is a magical place and AJ's chats and cooking skills are the cherry on the cake. The walks around the coast are breathtaking. Very recommended.
We had a wonderful stay with Alison-Jane in Ventnor. The house was a pleasant surprise, an intriguing tall victorian building with beautiful original features that Alison-Jane is renovating. It has a few lovely views of the hills and the sea. The bedroom was beautifully appointed with a very comfortable bed and pillows. We were treated to a lovely breakfast in the morning. Alison-Jane gave us excellent advice for sites to visit in the town and restaurant recommendations that were spot on. She was very easy to communicate with and flexible with our arrival and departure times. She also had an indoor place to keep our bikes. It felt like the quintessential Ventnor experience, a town full of eccentric surprises from a bygone era. Getting to experience quirky places like this is what makes airbnb so cool.
Alison is a great host. She knows a lot about Isle of Wight and we followed her recommendations - it was wonderful! On our first night Alison made dinner by her own recipe, which was delicious. We had very interesting conversation over dinner - and we learned a lot from Alison. The period house with antique furniture added so much to the atmosphere! Room with the view of the sea over the old rooftops was fantastic! And the real fire in the evening in the seating room! We are going to stay in touch with Alison. Thank you, Alison!
Lovely room in a quirky and welcoming home. AJ is very nice and interesting person and a caring host, who wants to make sure you have all you need and have a good time while her guest. Unexpected and very good tea and porridge in the morning were a nice and welcome surprise. As well as the tips on different things to see on the island, which are very helpful to make the best of your stay if you're a novice of the island like I was.
We had such a lovely stay at Alison Janes.
She was very welcoming and had lot's of interesting stories to tell.
She even booked us a table at the beatiful Royal Hotel for dinner.
Me and my boyfriend definitely want to come back on the island at some point.
Thank you Alison Jane
I'm a writer and interview national treasures and icons for a living. I'm interested in people, and have a passion for fashion, the natural world and current affairs. I love dressing up, not down, and my home is very much and extension of my personality - filled with gorgeous dresses, hats, handbags and pretty bric a brac. My perfect evening would be dinner with good friends who inspire me, followed by dancing my heart or watching and art house movie or romantic period drama. I love film - anything from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly to The English Patient, Shane or The Last Waltz. I love music- from Dylan to Jo Hamilton, Bach to Miles Davies. I love to cook and eat healthy, delicious superfoods. What couldn't I live without? - Very fine, dark organic chocolate, good smoked salmon, The Prince of Wales's homegrown fillet steak, good friends and my very own Darcy!
