There are two trek bicycles for use during the months between May and NOvember. , 2013. They are shared between the guests in Studio C. While I do my best to see that they are in working order, I cannot promise that it would always be so.. Also, guests must sign a waiver before riding.
Walk to The Teahouse for breakfast, El Farol for entertainment, Geronimo for a special night out. Be inspired by a plethora of art galleries. Hiking trails, Audubon, Dale Ball trails are very near. The Alameda river trail is just across the park.
Public transit is very close. Santa Fe Pick Up is located near the Tea House. It will take you to all the sites in Santa Fe, including the Railyard where you can go to the spectacular Santa Fe Farmer's Market on Tuesdays and Saturdays. From there, you may also catch the Railrunner, the train that will take you South to Albuquerque and just beyond. The train is comfortable, and has wifi most of the way.
Dream Canyon Road Casita -- What's within walking distance
The Teahouse (8-7, all week)
One block west on Canyon Rd. Great place for breakfast and for lunch. Enjoy your meal or tea on their pebble stone patio in the sunshine. The baked goods are usually very good. I also recommend the salads, one is a healthy meal in itself. The coffee drinks are a little better than average. Casual atmosphere, great magazine selection for design and fashion. They have the NY Times. New management as of late 2012--cleaner and better service than before.
El Farol (website hidden)
Less than two blocks west on Canyon Rd. .
Check out their entertainment line-up, everything from salsa night, to blues bands, to trivia night (Monday). They have a tapas (small spanish plates) menu, as well as a dinner menu. A place to sit at the bar and get to know some people, visitors and residents alike
A little further down Canyon, well into the gallery area, is a fine dining restaurant. Don't be intimidated, go inside and check out the inner bar room. The friendly bartender will make you feel at home. There is a great bar menu. For a more formal evening, the restaurant has excellent service and top-notch food and wine. The building is from the 1700's. Recommended.
This is further by about two more blocks. I ate here once, and it was fine, but for the price and the atmosphere, the quality of the food-- I prefer Geronimo's.
On Canyon rd, Nearly to Paseo de Peralta--about one mile from the Casita.
Friendly, small, coffee and pastries, crepes? …
Corner of Garcia St and Acequia Madre. Nice coffee shop with loads of magazines to peruse. Patio out back and in the front. The espresso drinks are decent. Lots of local people. It's a very nice walk: Go directly behind the casita onto Acequia Madre, and walk west. One of the most charming walks in Santa Fe! Keep going about one mile, passing an elementary school, until you see Garcia St. The coffeeshop is on the corner in a strip with a nice book store, photography gallery (Photo-eye). Pick up the local paper out front.
Kakawa Chocolate House.
Going past Downtown Subscription, cross Paseo de Peralta, to this darling chocolate house with hand crafted chocolate creations.
The easiest trail is right across the street! Just go through Patrick Smith Park and the other side is Santa Fe River, which runs along East Alameda St. It follows the river (a creek-size river), more or less, all the way across town, to West Alameda St. and the Plaza area, and beyond. Recommended for a partial walk, shop, eat, day.
Dale Ball Trails
Drive to this trailhead area by going East on Canyon, turn RT , then quickly left at the Stop sign. Now you are on Upper Canyon Rd. Follow this road about one mile and you will see a small parking area on the left.

I had an absolutely wonderful time! From beginning to end - in every way.
Lisa is a lovely host. The place is beautifully furnished, very cosy, well equipped.
The skylights make it feel bright and airy during the day, the fireplaces keep you
cosy on chilly spring evenings. The bed was so comfortable, very tempting to lay in
in mornings or go to bed early with a book.
Oh, and not to forget: the little courtyard! Breakfast in the sun under the flowering
The location is great too. In every respect, I was really happy at Lisa's place and
recommend it wholeheartedly!
This is an amazing place to stay in Santa Fe, it's right on canyon road, walking distance to everything pretty much. The space is very beautiful with two fireplaces and traditional Santa Fe architecture. Lisa is an amazing hostess, very cool.
I rented this simple yet warm and cozy casita for my elderly mother who was visiting from Europe. I selected it for its exceptional location in one of Santa Fe's most quaint and safest neighborhoods. I knew my mother would enjoy being within walking distance of all the art galleries and close to a charming cafe like the Teahouse. The casita was equipped with all the conveniences and Lisa turned out to be a very gracious and accommodating host.
Wow, what a wonderful fantastic place Lisa has! it was perfect for our stay in Sante Fe, and had everything we needed! The kitchen was well-equipt, everything was extremely clean, and the bed was super-comfy!! Lisa was a great host, and was very friendly. My husband and I would recommend El Farol, a tapas place close by, and we absolutely loved Sante Fe - great food, hikes, and sunshine! We would definitely stay here again if we return to Sante Fe. Thanks Lisa!
The casita on Canyon Road was lovely. The bed was so comfortable with its down comforter and multiple pillows. The kitchen was well-supplied with anything we needed. Lisa had a nice assortment of travel guides and books, which we used ALOT. One thing not mentioned in the reviews was that Lisa also has a studio-type place across the shared patio in case anyone wants to bring a larger family or have two places. We came in March, so it was a little cold outdoors, but the two gas fireplaces, plus an efficient space-heater, made the place cozy. In case you are not a walker, be aware that it is quite a hike from the Plaza, but we didn't mind the distance. Lisa is a great host!
This house on Canyon Rd is great. Lisa is very sweet and accommodating (i moved my dates up and was traveling with my dog). The house is in a great location in the city with galleries and a park on the street.
We came to Santa Fe to gallery hop and to participate in the Christmas Eve Farolito walk. Besos was the perfect location for these activities. We also wanted a kitchen as we get tired of eating out and like to be able to have simpler meals at home.
The kitchen and stove are smallish and the cooking equipment is somewhat spartan, but very usable (mission accomplished). There is a tall counter to use as a table in addition to a dining table. The bed was super comfortable with nice mattress, linens, and comforter. We slept like logs. With the exception of the bathroom, the place stayed warm with the fireplace heaters. The shower is functional, with plenty of hot water, although not super luxurious (think the shower would be fine in the summer when it is warmer out, but is not a place to linger in the winter; however, it gets the job done).
Overall, we had a relaxing vacation (stayed 7 nights) as the location is quiet, restful, and allows for minimal driving and parking in Santa Fe. We will stay here again, particularly in the summer months.
Place was beautiful. My family enjoyed the host and house very much!
My girlfriend and I just returned from a week in Santa Fe, where we went for a workshop. We were very happy with Besos! The location is perfect - in walking distance to the galleries on Canyon Road and several great restaurants. The place itself was very clean, comfortable and cozy. My friend said the pull out couch was very comfortable for sleeping and I slept well in the bedroom. It was easy to share the space, not being a couple. The two gas fireplaces kept us warm on the cool nights. We would definitely stay there again for the next workshop and I wouldn't hesitate to come back with my husband. Thank you Lisa!
My girlfriend and I were wonderfully surprised to find a little piece of paradise during our stay. This is truly a gem! The home is roomier than you can tell from the pictures. The 16 inch thick adobe walls, exposed vigas on the ceiling, private courtyard, super comfortable bed, and countless other little touches made it a cozy and memorable getaway for us and our 5 month old baby girl. The location could not be better either. Lisa also went the extra mile and recommended several galleries for me to submit my art. This is a real bargain and a place you'll want to return to again and again!
